Personal impact monitoring system
A personal impact monitoring system is described herein comprising a monitoring station that receives impact events sent from personal impact monitors using a monitoring station receiver. The impact events which specify impact parameters associated with the impact events are stored in a data storage location associated with the monitoring station. Software operating on the operating station is configured to receive the impact events from the data storage location and to perform calculations based on the impact events to identify notable impact events.
Mouthguard with tapered breathing channel
A mouthguard according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a pair of spaced lateral bite wings, a conduit defining an air channel extending between forward portions of the lateral bite wings, and a lip shield member and/or a flange disposed around and extending radially outward with respect to a forward end of the conduit. The conduit is tapered inward from its forward end toward its rearward end, and defines an incisor engaging surface proximate the rearward end of the conduit, and a lip engaging surface between the incisor engaging surface and the forward end of the conduit.
DYNAMIC VARIABILITY OF HEAD IMPACT DATA RE-CORDAL VIA INSTRUMENTED MOUTHGUARD DEVICES
Technology facilitates dynamic variability of head impact data recordal, for example, in the context of instrumented mouthguard devices. Some embodiments have been developed to facilitate an event recoding protocol that dynamically adjusts event recoding parameters thereby to provide appropriate data for both “short” and “prolonged” impact events. For example, various embodiments include methods for recording impact events in respect of an instrumented mouthguard device, such methods including dynamically adjusting a period of time for which event data is recorded for a given event responsive to length of time for which an over-threshold condition persists.
Mouth Guard Having Low-Profile Printed Circuit Board For Sensing And Notification Of Impact Forces
A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.
PRESSURIZED NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT DELIVERY
Disclosed herein is a chewable article for oral mucosa delivery of a composition. The chewable system comprises a chewable base with the composition embedded, coated, integrated or dispersed therein. The composition may be pressurized, oxygenated, and/or atomized. The composition may be released as an aerosol. In one embodiment, the chewable system comprises a pressurized capsule that dissolves or ruptures in the mouth to release a burst of the composition. The chewable system may be configured to allow the composition facing to the buccal mucosa.
MAXILLARY AND MANDIBULAR DEVICES THAT INCREASE THE SMALLEST CONCENTRIC AIRWAY CROSS-SECTIONAL AREA OF A USER FOR IMPROVEMENTS DURING PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Methods of lowering heart rate during physical activity for a user in need of an increase in their smallest concentric airway cross-sectional area include providing the person with a mandibular repositioning device having a maxillary tooth covering having a driver flange protruding laterally outward on a right and left side proximate a backmost teeth mold and a mandibular tooth covering having a protrusive flange extending cranially therefrom positioned to have a posterior side engaged with the anterior side of each driver flange. The anterior side of each driver flange has a convex curvature, and the posterior side of each protrusive flange has a concave-to-convex curvature from its base toward its most cranial point and a convex portion of the concave-to convex curvature engages the convex curvature of the driver flange in a rest position, and downward movement of the mandibular piece moves the user's mandible forward as well.
Supplement dispensing mouthguard device
A supplement dispensing mouthguard device is an apparatus that readily supplies supplements into the mouth of a user while the user is performing an exercise. The apparatus includes an upper U-shaped platform, a lower U-shaped platform, an inner curved wall, an outer curved wall, a main fastener, a supplement reservoir, at least one inlet, and a plurality of outlets. The upper U-shaped platform and the lower U-shaped platform protects the teeth. The inner curved wall and the outer curved wall protects the tongue and the inner walls of the cheeks of the user. The main fastener connects the upper U-shaped platform with the lower U-shaped platform and seals the at least one inlet. The supplement reservoir contains the desired supplement. The at least one inlet provides access into the supplement reservoir. The plurality of outlets distributes the supplement into the mouth of the user.
Accessory device, a patient immobilization system, and a method of forming a patient immobilization system
An accessory device and an immobilization system including the device are provided for positioning at least a portion of a patient's body relative to an immobilization device including a low temperature thermoplastic sheet. The accessory device may include a patient fixation portion and a lock portion. The patient fixation portion is attached to or inserted in the patient during use. The lock portion may extend distally from the patient fixation portion generally along a lock portion axis. The lock portion includes a shape, surface feature, or configuration, such that the low temperature thermoplastic sheet may be conformed to the outer surface of the lock portion of the accessory device, such that unintended separation of the accessory device from the low temperature thermoplastic sheet is prevented. Methods of forming the accessory device and immobilization system are also provided.
Oral training appliance
An oral training appliance for training the tongue and lips of a person is disclosed. The appliance comprises a U shaped body comprising a front section and two arms, an inner wall and an outer wall. A tongue training member extends from the inner wall and is moveable in response to movement by the user's tongue from a rest configuration to a training configuration. The appliance also comprises a lip training member and is moveable in response to movement of a user's lower lip from a rest configuration to a training configuration and the lip training member is biased towards the rest configuration.
NEGATIVE POISSON`S RATIO MATERIALS FOR EAR PLUGS AND MOUTH GUARDS
An ear plug includes an elongated body sized and shaped to be partially inserted into an ear canal of a wearer, in which the body includes a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) polymer foam material having a Poisson's ratio of between 0 and −1. A mouth guard includes an arc-shaped element sized to be received into a mouth of a wearer. The arc-shaped element has an outer wall, an inner wall, and a biting wall connecting the outer wall and the inner wall. The outer wall, the inner wall, and the biting wall define a channel that is sized to receive upper teeth of the wearer or lower teeth of the wearer. The outer wall, the biting wall, or both includes a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) material having a Poisson's ratio between 0 and −1.
