Multilayer dental appliances and related methods and systems
A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.
Mouthguard including breathing channels
A mouthguard according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a teeth engagement portion having a medial surface. An anterior surface is coupled to the teeth engagement portion opposite the medial surface. A first breathing channel extends from the anterior surface to the medial surface. A second breathing channel extends from the anterior surface to the medial surface. A third breathing channel extends from the anterior surface to the medial surface. A first interior wall is disposed between the first breathing channel and the second breathing channel. The first interior wall is configured to be aligned with a first upper incisor of a wearer. A second interior wall is disposed between the second breathing channel and the third breathing channel. The second interior wall is configured to be aligned with a second upper incisor of the wearer.
HEAD INJURY ASSESSMENT BASED ON COMNINATIONS OF BIOMARKERS, COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT AND/OR IMPACT DETECTION
Improved assessment of brain injuries, and improved brain injury management, is achieved using a combination of impact-related data derived from instrumented mouthguard devices, human function performance testing, and biomarkers derived from biological fluid (such as saliva and/or blood). The human function performance testing may include brain function performance testing, and/or other forms of human function performance testing. This involves combining a data-driven understanding of a head impact event (based on data collected via an instrumented mouthguard device) with a data-driven understanding of human function performance following that head impact event. The biomarkers may include salivary mRNA and/or ncRNA, and/or blood proteins (for example via a FDA-approved Brain Trauma Indicator test).
Oral appliance for measuring head motions by isolating sensors from jaw perturbance
An oral appliance includes: 1) a body defining a channel to accommodate an upper dentition; and 2) a motion sensor. The body includes a front portion defining a recess, and the motion sensor is affixed to the front portion.
SMART SPORT DEVICE
An Internet of Thing (IoT) sport device includes a body with a processor, a camera and a wireless transceiver coupled to the processor.
INSERTABLE AND PREFABRICATED ATTACHMENTS FOR AN ORAL APPLIANCE
A plastic shell such as an orthodontic aligner has an interior shape that substantially conforms to a current or future dental arch of a patient. The plastic shell includes a hollow feature comprising a cavity. The plastic shell additionally includes an object inserted into the cavity, wherein the object provides structural strength to the plastic shell at a location of the hollow feature and does not interfere with a fit of the plastic shell onto the dental arch of the patient.
PERSONAL AIR FILTRATION APPARATUS AND METHOD
An apparatus and methods for air filtration are disclosed. The apparatus includes a body and first and second replaceable filters. The body of the apparatus further contains an air-exchange assembly and a filter receiver attached to the air exchange assembly. The air-exchange assembly contains an exhaust tube with an open end and a closed end, two wings on opposite sides of the exhaust tube, and an intake check valve and an exhaust check valve inside the exhaust tube. The first replaceable filter surrounds the filter receiver; and the second replaceable filter is inside the filter receiver. Several apertures and the check valves are strategically disposed in the exhaust tube to achieve optimal air filtration and avoid contamination of a user's exhaust.
Oral Appliance
Present embodiments related to an oral appliance. More specifically, but without limitation, present embodiments relate to an oral appliance which improves aerobic performance when used during workouts or other athletic endeavors.
PRE-IMPRINTED MOUTH GUARDS, AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RETAIL SELECTION OF SAME
Disclosed herein is mouth guard including a structural component having an arch portion including pre-formed tooth-receiving indentations; and a conforming component supported by the structural component and being displaceable between the teeth of a wearer and the tooth-receiving indentations only when at or above a threshold temperature. Also disclosed is a computer-implemented method for recommending a mouth guard, and a computer-implemented method for determining bite dimensions for each of a plurality of mouth guards.
PROTECTIVE DEVICE
Protective device having a general U-shape and being associated with a longitudinal direction arranged to run along the teeth of a user along the general U-shape, the protective device including an outer, stiff material body, arranged to define a rigid outer shape of the mouthguard; and an inner material body, arranged to define an inner shape of the mouthguard, the inner material body being made from a plastic material arranged to soften when heated so as to be molded, in heated condition, onto the teeth of the user, the inner material body being arranged to cover at least part of a bottom, a front wall and a back wall of the outer material body, a part of the inner material body covering at least part of the bottom being arranged, in the cross-section, to define a shape with a front part, a back part and a relatively thicker central part.
