The Riot swing is a completely new aerial motion entertainment device that makes one feel like they are flying by using one or more springs to adjust and balance the weight of the rider lying flat on their stomach, suspended on a rope from a tree limb, while their guardian holds the control tether which can safely maneuver the unlimited multi directional movements and actions of the swing. It is completely unique in it’s flying actions and movements from all other swings. Unlike other swings, it has a control tether that is connected to the bottom of the spring or springs that suspends the swing above the ground. The guardian of the child or person makes the swing movements as gentle or as lively as is appropriate for their safety. The up, down, round and flying motions of the guided sprung platform allows the swing to move safely and freely in all three dimensions.

A tower may support a horizontal track and a vertical climbing wall therebelow. A trolley, movable along the track, may be selectively driven toward and away from the tower by belay lines, line and capstan, positive drive, or some combination. Belay lines reeved over pulleys on the trolley may be taken up and paid out independently from the trolley, while fixed or moving. A rider may climb, be lifted, or both to near the intersection of the tower and track, from there to fall or jump into a controllable trajectory such as swinging or simulating a parachute landing. Swinging may be rapidly attenuated almost entirely by “bumps,” lifting a rider to remove momentum and kinetic energy as a rider moves toward a pivot point overhead. Control may be simplified based on sensing and using timing past bottom dead center (BDC).
