HEAT INTEGRATED PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR ORGANIC SOLVENT PRODUCTION USING VAPOR RECOMPRESSION

A distillation and dehydration system is provided that produces an anhydrous organic solvent. The provided system includes vapor recompression (e.g., a mechanical or thermal vapor recompression unit) to recover heat from a rectification-distillation section (e.g., a rectifier/stripper column). The addition of vapor recompression enables further heat recovery within a stream by increasing the condensation temperature and pressure of that stream and later using its latent heat by condensing it.

Sustainable and circular water demineralization with zero waste discharge

The present disclosure is concerned with sea water demineralization. More specifically, to systems, methods, and apparatus for water demineralization and purification, including the removal of dissolved solids and contaminants from sea water, industrial water with mineral content, and brackish water.

Process and apparatus ensure high on-stream reliability of a complex that requires a heat pump which is using a compound having a high boiling point, such as xylenes. When the compressor is shutdown, it can be isolated from the distillation column and receiver while the column is allowed to continue to operate with an auxiliary reboiler for constant heat input. The heat pump can be started up and heated to the normal process temperature, so that when the heavy vapor is charged to the heat pump, it does not immediately condense into liquid, causing damage to the compressor.
