METHOD FOR MICROFLUIDIC EXTRACTION FROM VEGETABLE OIL
A process for the microfluidic extraction of molecules of interest from a vegetable oil, which utilizes a microfluidic chip with a double-Y-channel circuit, two inlets, two outlets, and a main channel, a first vessel including vegetable oil and a second vessel including ethanol for extraction, a pressure controller for pressurizing the vegetable oil and the ethanol, a first collector for the triglycerides-enriched vegetable oil and a second collector for molecules of interest-enriched ethanol. The extraction process includes: controlling the pressures to subject each of the vegetable oil and the ethanol to a pressure, so the interface between the two fluids is positioned at the junction point of inlets, bringing the vegetable oil and ethanol into contact with each other in the main channel for a time to enable extraction of the molecules of interest, collecting the molecules of interest-enriched ethanol, optionally, evaporating the ethanol, collecting the triglycerides-enriched vegetable oil.
Two-phase electroextraction from moving phases
The present invention relates to a process for the electro extraction of molecules from a moving fluid donor phase into an acceptor phase, comprising the steps of: providing an electrically conductive donor phase moving at a first flow velocity and in electrically conductive contact with a first electrode, providing an electrically conductive acceptor phase in direct contact and immiscible with the donor phase, in electrically conductive contact with a second electrode; and providing a supporting or confining phase guide pattern to keep a defined interface between donor phase and acceptor phase, and (d) applying an electrical field between the first and the second electrode.

The device includes an aerosampler having an air inlet and at least one collector tube, a microfluidic system which includes a container, piping, a micro pump for flowing a liquid and a viral detection chamber. The viral detection chamber has an electrode which may be equipped with functionalized bio sensors, a counter electrode, an electronic detection system connectable to the electrodes of the viral detection chamber, and an embedded electronic processing system for processing data from the electronic detection system.
METHOD FOR COUNTER-CURRENT LIQUID-LIQUID EXTRACTION IN A SUB-MILLIMETRE CONDUIT
A method for counter-current liquid-liquid extraction in a sub-millimeter conduit is implemented from an initial liquid drop stream. The stream has alternating drops of a first liquid, and a second liquid less wetting than the first liquid and immiscible with the first liquid. One of the liquids includes a component to extract towards the other liquid. A first pressure gradient applied along the conduit generates a visco-inertial flow displacing a first drop stream volume according to the first gradient and generating a film of first liquid displaced along the opposite orientation, the film being located between the drops of second liquid and the conduit. The application of the first pressure gradient is stopped. A second pressure gradient is applied along the conduit, in the opposite orientation to generate a viscous-capillary flow displacing a second volume of according to the second gradient and application of the second pressure gradient stops.
MICROMIXING FOR HIGH THROUGHPUT MICROFLUIDIC REFINING
The present disclosure relates to the design of structural features that enable the facile and reproducible fabrication of a microfluidic reactor that eliminates the problem of scaling factors in turn enabling the broad integration of microchannel reactors to industrial scale production. The process is highlighted via the effective and successful scale up of a purification process for the removal of a variety of different classes of impurities from crude vegetable oils mixtures into feedstocks that can be directly integrated into the hydrotreatment vegetable oil hydrogenation process for mass production of synthetic diesel derived from renewable sources.
