Process for equilibrium-limited reactions
A process for conducting equilibrium-limited chemical reactions that produce water as a reaction product. Specifically, a process that uses a reactive chromatography unit (RCU) to improve the efficiency of equilibrium-limited reactions, such as a process for reacting glycol ether (GE) and carboxylic acid (CA) to form water and glycol ether ester (GEE). The process includes supplying GE and CA to the RCU, where one of either the CA or the GE is in a stoichiometric deficit relative to the other reactant. The reactant in the stoichiometric deficit reacts in the presence of the catalyst in the RCU to form a mixture of GEE and water. A raffinate is separated from the mixture using the separation media of the RCU contains at least the GEE. An extract separated from the mixture using the separation media of the RCU contains at least the water.
PROCESS FOR OPERATING A SIMULATED MOVING BED REACTOR
The present disclosure provides for a process for supplying a first reactant and a second reactant (reactants) to a simulated moving bed reactor (SMBR) at each step of a sequential repeating injection cycle, where the SMBR includes zones each having an injection point and each containing a solid separation media; reacting the reactants in the SMBR during the sequential repeating injection cycle (cycle) to form a first product; separating the first product in the SMBR with the solid separation media; and changing an amount of one or both of the reactants injected at one or more of the injection points of the SMBR during a step of the cycle. Changing the amount of the reactants can be done at each step of the sequential repeating injection cycle. Changing the amount can include changing an inlet concentration of the reactants injected at one or more of the injection points during each step of the cycle.
PROCESS FOR REMOVING THC FROM CANNABINOIDS
A method of removing THC and THCA from a non-decarboxylated hemp extract, the non-decarboxylated hemp extract including THC and THCA and at least one cannabinoid is provided. The method comprises passing a first feedstock stream through a first chromatographic resin arranged in a simulated moving bed (SMB) chromatography configuration to provide a primary raffinate stream, preparing a second feedstock stream, the second feedstock stream comprising the primary raffinate stream or a concentrated primary raffinate stream, and passing the second feedstock stream through a second chromatographic resin to provide an eluate stream, the eluate stream having less than 0.1 wt % THC on a solvent free basis. The cannabinoid products can be used in various pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications.
A PROCESS FOR PURIFICATION OF POLYETHER BLOCK COPOLYMERS
Process for providing purified polyether block copolymers comprising polyoxyethylene (PEO) and polyoxypropylene (PPO) moieties wherein the purified product is obtained by an ultrafiltration step of a solution of the polyether block copolymers and wherein the block copolymers are depleted in lower molecular impurities.
Separating components of mixed fluid using a functionally graded material
A system for separating components of a fluid containing at least a first component and a second component includes a device having an inlet for introducing the fluid into the device, a first outlet for directing the first component of the fluid from the device, and a second outlet for directing the second component of the fluid from the device. A material that has a gradient in properties is located in the device between the inlet and the first and second outlets. The material has a first portion with an affinity for the first fluid component and a second portion with an affinity for the second fluid component. The first portion is positioned with relation to the first outlet such that the first component is directed from said device through the first outlet. The second portion is positioned with relation to the second outlet such that the second component is directed from the device through the second outlet.

Reactive chromatography process for equilibrium-limited reactions
The present disclosure provides for a process for an equilibrium limited reaction using reactive chromatography unit (RCU) in which a first organic donor reactant (FODR) and a second organic acceptor reactant (SOAR) react to form a product mixture of a first acceptor product (FAP) and a second donor co-product (SDCP). The equilibrium-limited reaction does not produce water. The RCU has separation media to separate the product mixture into a raffinate and an extract. The FODR is in a stoichiometric deficit relative to the SOAR for the equilibrium limited reaction, so that the SOAR acts as the eluent for both the raffinate and the extract, and so as not to produce an azeotrope of FODR and the SDCP in the extract.
