Alkali enrichment mediated CO.SUB.2 .sequestration methods, and systems for practicing the same
Methods of sequestering CO.sub.2 from a gaseous source of CO.sub.2 are provided. Aspects of the methods include employing an alkali enrichment protocol, such as a membrane mediated alkali enrichment protocol, in a CO.sub.2 sequestration protocol. Also provided are systems for practicing the methods.
SUBSEA FLUID PROCESSING SYSTEM
A subsea fluid processing system which receives a wellstream flow. The subsea fluid processing system includes a pressure control device which regulates a pressure of the wellstream flow, a gas-liquid separator unit which receives the wellstream flow downstream of the pressure control device and which provides a liquid stream and a gas stream, a first membrane separator which receives the gas stream and which provides a retentate stream and a permeate stream, a compressor which receives the permeate stream and which provides a compressed permeate stream, and a discharge cooler which receives the compressed permeate stream and which provides a cooled compressed permeate stream for injection into a subsurface reservoir. A density of the cooled compressed permeate stream is higher than a density of the compressed permeate stream.
Hollow fiber membrane contactor scrubber/stripper for cabin carbon dioxide and humidity control
An environmental control system includes an air conditioning subsystem and a contaminant removal subsystem downstream of the environment to be conditioned. The contaminant removal subsystem includes: a first gas-liquid contactor-separator; a second gas-liquid contactor-separator; and a dehumidifier disposed either upstream of the first gas-liquid contactor-separator or downstream of the second gas-liquid contactor-separator.
Gas separation membrane module with hollow fiber carbon molecular sieve membranes
A CMS membrane module includes plurality of hollow fiber CMS membranes that are enclosed within an open cylindrical shell whose ends are embedded in tubesheets. The shell is concentrically disposed within an open cylindrical pressure vessel whose open ends are covered by and secured by end caps. The shell includes a feed fluid inlet formed therein between the tubesheets and a retentate outlet in between one of the tubesheets and an adjacent end cap. A retentate seal is formed between the shell and the pressure vessel at a position between the tubesheets. A permeate seal is formed between the pressure vessel and the tubesheet that is adjacent a permeate port of the module. A structure made up of the CMS membranes, shell, tubesheets, and seals is slidable within the pressure vessel and not fixed in place in relation to the pressure vessel and end caps.
HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANES WITH POLYDIORGANOSILOXANE POLYOXAMIDE COPOLYMER SKIN LAYER AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
Hollow fiber membranes, membrane contactors, and related production and use methods. The asymmetric hollow fiber membranes include a porous substrate having a multiplicity of pores and including at least one semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyolefin (co)polymer. A skin layer including at least one polydiorganosiloxane polyoxamide copolymer overlays the porous substrate. The skin layer is less porous than the porous substrate and forms an outer surface of the asymmetric hollow fiber membrane, while the porous substrate forms an inner surface of the hollow fiber membrane. The skin layer is preferably nonporous.
MEMBRANE MODULE
A membrane assembly includes a tube container having an inlet conduit and a first outlet conduit both oriented in a radial direction, and a second outlet conduit oriented in an axial direction; and a hollow fiber membrane element disposed inside the tube container, the hollow first membrane element comprising a first adapter with an axial permeate fluid passage in a center thereof and an inlet gas passage in a peripheral portion thereof; and a second adapter with an axial permeate fluid passage in a center thereof and a non-permeate fluid passage in a peripheral portion thereof.
NaA ZEOLITE MEMBRANE FOR RECOVERY OF AMMONIA
Ammonia is made in a system that includes a conversion reactor for performing a Haber-Bosch process. Effluent streams from the conversion reactor, which include an ammonia component and excess hydrogen and nitrogen reactants, are fed to a membrane separator that includes NaA zeolite membranes disposed on one or more hollow porous supports. The NaA zeolite membranes are highly selective for the ammonia component, allowing the ammonia to be collected from a lumen of the membranes as a product and enriching the excess hydrogen and nitrogen reactants for reuse in the conversion reactor. These systems and the methods of their use are effective to replace and/or modify the energy-intensive condensation/recycling steps in the traditional Haber-Bosch process used to condense NH3 from the exiting stream of the reactor. The selective removal of ammonia by high quality NaA membranes helps to shift the ammonia evolution reaction.
Internal air adjustment device
An internal air adjustment device that includes a first composition adjustment unit and a second composition adjustment unit. The first composition adjustment unit separates supply air from external air, the supply air having a composition that differs from a composition of the external air, and supplies the supply air into a transport container. The second composition adjustment unit separates discharge air from internal air, the discharge air having a composition that differs from a composition of the internal air, and discharges the discharge air to outside of the transport container. The internal air adjustment device is capable of properly controlling the composition of the internal air in the transport container.
