IN-SITU FINES CAPTURE FROM FLUID FINE TAILINGS
20230050121 · 2023-02-16 ·

A process is provided for capturing fines present in fluid fine tailings, in particular, in oil sands fluid fine tailings (FFT), present in a tailings containment structure by spreading coarse sand into the tailings containment structure below an interface that has formed between a water cap and the fluid fine tailings to form a uniform, non-segregating and homogenous fines-rich, a high total solids content mixture that will ultimately form a beach below FFT (BB-FFT) at the bottom of the tailings containment structure.

INTEGRATED DOUBLE BAFFLE WALL GREASE INTERCEPTOR
20230079885 · 2023-03-16 ·

A separation device and method for treating effluent mixture streams including one or more liquid component(s). The device and method can utilize gravity and/or hydromechanical separation to separate non-water components from the effluent mixture. The device and method more particularly relates to an improved large capacity grease interceptor having an integrally formed double baffle sidewall within the tank reservoir to control the movement of effluent mixture within the reservoir, as well as significantly improve structural integrity of the device and ease of manufacturing and assembly.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RECYCLING RECOVERED WATER UTILIZING A DEFLUIDIZING TANK

Defluidizing tanks may include a tank having an interior defined by side walls and a bottom; a filter assembly emplaced within the interior of the tank and constructed to receive a slurry of solids and recovered fluid; and a weir chamber within the tank and defined by the interior of the tank and at least one wall of the filter assembly. Systems may include a source of recovered fluid from a wellbore operation; a filtration unit receiving the recovered fluid and isolating a fraction of solids from the recovered fluid, the filtration unit having a backflush mode in which the fraction of solids is evacuated from the filtration unit; and a defluidizing tank receiving the evacuated fraction of solids to generate a filtrate and dried solids.

Hydrodynamic separator for stormwater treatment

A method, system, and apparatus directed to an innovative approach for the treatment of stormwater utilizing hydrodynamic separator assembly designed to maximize flow movement for more efficient sediment removal and maximize clearance space within assembly to facilitate cleaning and increase storage capacity of trash, debris, and sediment.

Solids transfer pump with modular components

An F.O.G. separation apparatus includes a tank for receiving a liquid effluent flow containing water, F.O.G., and gross solids. The tank has a chamber, an inlet in an inlet module, a downstream section and an outlet in an outlet module. The inlet module has a weir for the effluent downstream of a strainer to strain gross solids from the effluent. A pump upstream of the strainer pumps water and solids that do not pass through the strainer. The pump's rotatable vertical shaft has a motor at an upper and an impeller at the bottom. A pipe connected to the inlet module near the impeller conveys solids and water when the pump is activated and directs the solids and water to the outlet. F.O.G. and water entering the tank pass to the downstream section where the F.O.G. is removed from the water by a skimmer, and the residual water exist the tank through the outlet module.

Dirt Separator

A dirt separator including a vessel having a separation container having a lateral container wall, a container bottom, and a container axis, which container has an inlet and an outlet as well as an interior, and having a particle separation chamber, which is disposed at the outlet of the separation container and stands in a fluid connection with the separation container, an inlet for supply of liquid into the vessel, and an outlet for discharge of the liquid out of the vessel. The dirt separator is configured in such a manner that liquid introduced into the separation container flows downward along the container wall in a cyclone-like movement, and then flows upward to the particle separation chamber within the liquid that flows downward in cyclone-like manner, and the dirt separator includes at least one particle separator, which is disposed in the particle separation chamber.

Method for Removing Solids Submerged in a Polymer-Based Slurry
20220305409 · 2022-09-29 · ·

A method for removing solids submerged in a polymer-based slurry. The present invention filters used polymer-based slurries, containing solids, to return the slurry to a condition that is favorable to the owner. The method utilizes a first collection tank, an agitator, a shaker with a plurality of screens, a desander, a desilter, a centrifuge that removes solids down to a size range of 5-7 microns, and a second collection tank. Each component can be used in tandem depending on the polymer-based slurry characteristics that are required by the owner. The preferred embodiment includes the following steps: obtaining used polymer-based slurry, pumping the slurry into a first collection tank where the slurry undergoes agitation, pumping the slurry through a plurality of screens, pumping the slurry into a desander and/or a desilter, passing the slurry through a screen, and pumping the slurry in centrifuge that removes solids down to a size range of 5-7 microns. After completion of the method, the owner can decide to repeat the steps to obtain a polymer-based slurry in accordance with their requirements.

VOLUME CONTROLLED HYDRODYNAMIC SEPARATOR FOR STORMWATER TREATMENT

A method, system, and apparatus directed to an innovative approach for the treatment of stormwater utilizing hydrodynamic separator assembly designed to maximize flow movement for more efficient sediment removal and maximize clearance space within assembly to facilitate cleaning and increase storage capacity of trash, debris, and sediment. In particular, the described hydrodynamic separator is an improvement over other hydrodynamic separators known in the art with the inclusion of one or more down pipes which siphon water from the lower portion of the sump chamber. The inclusion of down pipes allows for an improved control of the velocity of the water flow through the device by distributing flow into more than one path.

Profiled strip and method of forming a separating assembly

A method of forming a honeycomb-shaped assembly comprises providing a plurality of profiled strips. Each of the profiled strips comprises two base sides positioned at an obtuse angle relative to each other to form a trough-shaped configuration. An inner projecting flange and an outer projecting flange extend from the base sides. One of the inner projecting flange and outer projecting flange comprises an groove. Two connecting sides each extend along a plane from one of the two base sides and each includes at least one free end including a projection. The plurality of profiled strips are stacked to form an octagonal honeycomb configuration by inserting the projection of a connecting side of one of the plurality of profiled strips into the groove of a base side of another of the plurality of profiled strips. At least a portion of the projection is received by the groove in an interlocking manner.
