Settling tank and methods for guiding partial flows in the inflow area of settling tanks
A settling or sedimentation tank including inlet structures arranged, through whose inlet opening the suspension to be separated flows to the tanks, the height of which can be variably adjusted. In addition to the height variability of the inlet opening, the volumetric flow flowing out of the inlet structure can, depending on the actual load, be directed by forming a horizontally flow-through inlet opening or a vertically flow-through inlet opening and can optionally be divided into horizontal and vertical partial flows Q.sub.I and Q.sub.II. As a result of the horizontal inflow, the capacity of the sedimentation tank increases at high loads, and as a result of the vertical inflow, the volume flow through the sedimentation chamber and the turbulent energy in the sedimentation chamber decrease at low loads, so that the retention of fine suspension in the sedimentation tank is increased and thus the effluent quality is improved.
Tensile Structure Density Current Baffle
A tensile structure density current baffle for use in a clarifier tank having a side wall includes a tensioning cable and a central baffle portion formed from a membrane fabric. The central baffle portion has an upper baffle portion with an upper end, a lower baffle portion with a lower end, and a junction between the upper baffle portion and the lower baffle portion. The tensioning cable engages the central baffle portion at the junction. The upper end of the central baffle portion being fastenable to the side wall above the junction and the lower end of the central baffle portion being fastenable to the side wall below the junction. When the upper end and lower end are fastened to the side wall and the tensioning cable is tensioned, the tensioning cable and membrane fabric comprise a self-supporting tensile structure that extends toward the center of the clarifier tank.
Launder cover system
A launder cover system for reducing or eliminating sunlight exposure so as to prevent algae growth in a tank such as a clarifier tank. The launder cover system generally includes a plurality of support members and a plurality of launder covers which are each independently pivotably connected to a tank wall of a tank, such as by using a mount. The support members are each pivotably connected to the tank wall by a pivot connector and the launder covers are each pivotably connected to the tank wall by a hinge connector. Each support member is positioned between a pair of launder covers, and each launder cover is positioned between a pair of support members. The support members function to support the launder covers in a raised or lowered position. A launder support may be connected to the channel wall to support the launder covers in their lowered positions.

Gravity recovery system and method for recovery of heavy metals from sands and gravels
A magnetic field system for producing an interruptible geometrically patterned magnetic field at a surface, including a surface member including a surface, a magnetic member situated exterior to the surface member, including a geometrically patterned array of magnets, the magnetic member being reversibly mounted in sufficient proximity to the surface member to produce a corresponding geometrically patterned magnetic field extending through the surface, the geometrically patterned array of magnets including magnets selected form the group consisting of permanent magnets, electromagnets, and a combination thereof, the geometrically patterned magnetic field being interruptible by the removal of the magnetic member to a location sufficiently distant from the surface member to withdraw the geometrically patterned magnetic field from the surface, or by the depowering of the powered electromagnets. A gravity separation system for separating and recovering metal particles from a liquid stream of suspended particles to be separated. A method for the gravity separation and recovery of metal particles from a liquid stream with a gravity recovery system.
