Reinforced spin on rechargeable filter and related method of manufacture

A rechargeable spin-on filter includes a cover, a housing threadably joined with the housing, and a filter element can be replaced with another filter element relative thereto. The cover and/or housing can be plastic. The cover can include a bottom plate having inlet ports and an outlet port. The bottom plate can be reinforced with an optionally metal reinforcing plate that registers and locks relative to the bottom plate via locking elements, in the form of corresponding apertures and projections or tabs that interfit with one another. A related method is provided.

FILTRATION SEALING SYSTEM

A filtration sealing system is provided for sealing a filter element in a housing at a mating interface therebetween. The sealing system includes a keyed interface. A replacement filter element is provided for such filtration sealing system, with the replacement filter element including a keyed interface.

Filter Leak Path Prevention Via Interference Pin

A replacement filter element having a removable pin attached to the filter element is described. The removable pin is attached to the filter element via a first interference fit. When the replacement filter element is installed into a filtration system having a drain valve with an internal draft, the removable pin seals onto the drain valve and forms a second interference fit between the drain valve and the pin. The pin seals an opening in the drain valve. The second interference fit is stronger than the first interference. Accordingly, when the replacement filter element is removed from the filter housing (e.g., during a service event of the replacement filter element), the pin detaches from the replacement filter element and remains positioned within the drain valve thereby preventing fluid from leaking from the housing when the filter element is removed. The pin permanently plugs the drain valve once installed.

A filter cartridge has media construction, a housing, and a first end construction. The first end constructions includes an outer radial wall with circumferentially spaced connecting sections; each connecting section having a plurality of helical profiles extending at a helix angle. The filter cartridge is removably attached to a filter head, which has mating connecting segments. A bowl cartridge assembly is also provided including connecting sections with a plurality of helical profiles.

Filter element and filter assembly

A filter element has a first follower element with a first traction surface and a second follower element with a second traction surface provided for interacting with first and second mating surfaces of the filter housing, respectively. The first and second traction surfaces interact with the first and second mating surfaces to pull out the filter element from the filter housing. The first and second traction surfaces are spaced apart from each other along a longitudinal axis of the filter element and project radially into the interior of the filter element. At least one of the first and second follower elements has a stop surface adjoining circumferentially the respective traction surface. In a position of use, the stop surface interacts with a counter stop surface of the filter housing to form an at least unidirectional rotational degree of freedom blocking about the longitudinal axis relative to the filter housing.

Each tooth element is radially elastically yielding, so the blocking configuration is achievable following radial movement of the tooth element. The first engagement members include for each tooth element a command device extending radially. Radial movement of the tooth element actuates the command device.

A cup-shaped screw housing of the filter can be screwed to a free end of the stand pipe, and supports a seal on a free edge thereof, via which the screw housing is sealable against a connection flange sealing surface when mounted. The filter has a first arrangement on an end face area to center the end face area to the flange. The filter insert has a second arrangement on the end face area outer periphery for centering the screw housing free edge relative to the connection flange sealing surface. The second arrangement interacts in a centering manner with the screw housing free edge when installed.

The top cap (18) and the bottom cap (19) create a circular guiding system. The bottom cap (19) has a first part (19a) that receives the filter element (12) and a second part (19b) that is connected with a mating surface (20) of the housing. The second part has a first circular section (21a) and a second section (21b) and the first section has another shape than the second section (21b), such that the bottom cap (19) cannot rotate in relation to the mating surface.
