Porous liquids

The invention relates to dispersions of porous solids in liquids selected from deep eutectic solvents, liquid oligomers, bulky liquids, liquid polymers, silicone oils, halogenated oils, paraffin oils or triglyceride oils, as well as to their methods of preparation. In embodiments of the invention, the porous solids are metal organic framework materials (MOFs), zeolites, covalent organic frameworks (COFs), porous inorganic materials, Mobil Compositions of Matter (MCMs) or a porous carbon. The invention also relates to the use of porous materials to form dispersions, and to assemblages of such dispersions with a gas or gases. The dispersions can exhibit high gas capacities and selectivities.

An apparatus includes a housing that defines a first zone, a second zone, a third zone, and a fourth zone. The apparatus includes an inlet, a first outlet, a second outlet, and a conveyor belt. The inlet is configured to receive a carbon dioxide-containing fluid in the first zone. The first outlet is configured to discharge a carbon dioxide-depleted fluid from the first zone. The second outlet is configured to discharge a carbon dioxide-rich fluid from the third zone. The conveyor belt passes through each of the zones. The conveyor belt includes a carbon dioxide sorbent. Within the first zone, the carbon dioxide sorbent is configured to adsorb carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide-containing fluid to produce the carbon dioxide-depleted fluid. Within the third zone, the carbon dioxide sorbent is configured to desorb the captured carbon dioxide to produce the carbon dioxide-rich fluid.

Process for recovering carbon monoxide from catalytic fast pyrolysis product

The present invention provides an improved process for recovering CO from a catalytic fast pyrolysis (CFP) process product effluent. The process comprises the steps of: a) providing a first vapor phase stream resulting from a CFP process comprising, on a water-free and solids-free basis, from 25 to 80% CO and at least 15% CO.sub.2, b) mixing the first vapor phase stream of step a) with a particular solvent to make a mixed phase stream, c) separating the mixed phase stream of step b) into a second vapor phase stream comprising CO and a liquid phase stream, and d) recovering a product stream from the second vapor phase stream of step c) having a higher concentration of CO and a lower concentration of CO.sub.2 than the first vapor phase stream of step a).
