Gas treatment method and materials

A method is disclosed in which a gas of hydrogen and nitrogen, or hydrogen and ammonia, or hydrogen, nitrogen, and ammonia, is introduced to a fluidized bed. The gas flows through the fluidized bed, and titanium dioxide particles are introduced to the fluidized bed to form a fluid mixture of the particles and gas in the fluidized bed. The particles are reacted with the gas in the fluid mixture to form particles including titanium dioxide and nitrogen. The particles can be disposed along an air flow path in operative communication with a light source for air treatment.

Catalytic converter

A catalytic converter with excellent OSC performance and NO.sub.x purification performance. The converter includes a substrate with a cell structure through which exhaust gas flows, and a catalyst layer formed on a cell wall surface of the substrate. The catalyst layer includes a lower catalyst layer and an upper catalyst layer, the lower catalyst layer being formed on a surface of the substrate, and the upper catalyst layer being formed on a surface of the lower catalyst layer. The upper catalyst layer includes at least a zirconia support with rhodium carried thereon, and two types of ceria-zirconia-based composite oxides with different specific surface areas, each of the ceria-zirconia-based composite oxides having no rhodium carried thereon. The lower catalyst layer includes an alumina support with platinum carried thereon, and a ceria-zirconia-based composite oxide.

COMBINED VOC MITIGATING AND ANTIMICROBIAL SYSTEMS

Fluid purification systems employing a monolithic composite photocatalyst to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and/or pathogenic organisms are disclosed. Pairing of systems tuned to abate each of these materials are discussed in different configurations such as series and parallel, as well as combining systems to target both materials simultaneously. System configurations that allow a portion of the fluid stream to be purified are also disclosed as are configurations that allow regeneration of the photocatalyst. These features may be augmented by sensors that allow closed loop control of bypass and regeneration cycles in the systems.

PHOTOCATALYTIC FLUIDIZED BED REACTOR SYSTEMS

The Invention describes photocatalytic reactor systems that employ fluidization of the photocatalyst. These systems are useful for performing chemical transformations on a chemical containing fluid, including for VOCs. Aspects of the invention include non-imaging optics, abrasion resistant coatings and photoreactor designs.

Fluid for purifying heat engines and methods for preparing said fluids by emulsification

The present invention describes a fluid which is suitable for the decontamination of heat engines which can carry out, at the same time, both the catalytic reduction of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) contained in exhaust gases and assist in the regeneration of the particulate filter (PF). The invention also describes several embodiments of said fluid consisting of producing an oil-in-water type emulsion.
