There is provided a nitrogen rejection unit for extracting nitrogen and carbon dioxide from a flue gas, the system comprising: a first container for holding a first volume of the flue gas at a first pressure and a first temperature that is below or equal to the condensation temperature of the carbon dioxide and greater than the condensation temperature of nitrogen; an outlet for removing the carbon dioxide as a liquid from the first container; means for transporting gaseous nitrogen from the first container to a second container and means for cooling the nitrogen such that the second container contains nitrogen at a second temperature that is below or equal to its condensation temperature such that at least some of the nitrogen in the second container is in liquid form; and means for guiding the liquid nitrogen from the second container through or around the first container to cool the material within the first container to the first temperature. There is also provided a system for capturing carbon dioxide in a flue gas, a method for extracting nitrogen from a flue gas, and a method for capturing carbon dioxide in a flue gas.

An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst having improved exhaust gas purifying performance (in particular, improved NOx purifying performance) at low to medium temperature, and, in order to achieve the object, the present invention provides an exhaust gas purification catalyst (10A) including: a substrate (20); and a catalyst layer (30 or 40) formed on the substrate (20), wherein the catalyst layer (30 or 40) contains rhodium element, phosphorus element and a rare earth element other than cerium element, wherein a ratio of a mass of the phosphorus element contained in the catalyst layer (30 or 40) to the mass of the rhodium element contained in the catalyst layer (30 or 40) is from 1 to 10, and wherein a ratio of a mass of the rare earth element other than cerium element in terms of an oxide thereof contained in the catalyst layer (30 or 40) to the mass of the rhodium element contained in the catalyst layer (30 or 40) is from 1 to 5.

GAS SEPARATION METHOD AND ZEOLITE MEMBRANE

A gas separation method includes supplying a mixed gas to a zeolite membrane complex and permeating a high permeability gas through the zeolite membrane complex to separate the high permeability gas from other gases. The mixed gas includes a high permeability gas and a trace gas that is lower in concentration than the high permeability gas. The trace gas contains an organic substance whose molar concentration in the mixed gas is higher than or equal to 1.0 mol %. The adsorption equilibrium constant of the organic substance on the zeolite membrane is less than 150 times the adsorption equilibrium constant of the high permeability gas.

Copper CHA zeolite catalysts

Zeolite catalysts and systems and methods for preparing and using zeolite catalysts having the CHA crystal structure are disclosed. The catalysts can be used to remove nitrogen oxides from a gaseous medium across a broad temperature range and exhibit hydrothermal stable at high reaction temperatures. The zeolite catalysts include a zeolite carrier having a silica to alumina ratio from about 15:1 to about 256:1 and a copper to alumina ratio from about 0.25:1 to about 1:1.

Metal-organic framework/polymer foam composite materials and their uses in decontamination and/or ballistic protection

A composite material is provided comprising a porous polymeric matrix having metal-organic framework (MOF) domains dispersed within the porous polymeric matrix, each of said MOF domains in fluid communication with the external environment through the pores in the porous polymeric matrix. A process of using the composite material to chemically modify or detoxify a chemical warfare agent or a toxic industrial chemical is also provided. The chemical warfare agent or the toxic industrial chemical is brought into contact with a MOF domain within the porous polymeric matrix so that the MOFs adsorb and chemically modify the chemical warfare agent or the toxic industrial chemical. A process for producing such a composite material is also disclosed.

Moisture-resistant catalyst for air pollution remediation and method of making the same

The moisture-resistant catalyst for air pollution remediation is a catalyst with moisture-resistant properties, and which is used for removing nitrogen compound pollutants, such as ammonia (NH.sub.3), from air. The moisture-resistant catalyst for air pollution remediation includes at least one metal oxide catalyst, at least one inorganic oxide support for supporting the at least one metal oxide catalyst, and a porous framework for immobilizing the at least one metal oxide catalyst and the at least one inorganic oxide support, where the porous framework is moisture-resistant. As non-limiting examples, the at least one metal oxide catalyst may be supported on the at least one inorganic oxide support by precipitation, impregnation, dry milling, ion-exchange or combinations thereof. The at least one metal oxide catalyst supported on the at least one inorganic oxide support may be physically embedded in the porous framework.
