EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION SYSTEM
An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification system including a first exhaust gas treatment section provided upstream in an exhaust pathway of an internal-combustion engine, a second exhaust gas treatment section provided upstream in the exhaust pathway of the internal-combustion engine, wherein the exhaust gas purification system allows rhodium element contained in a catalyst layer of the second exhaust gas treatment section to efficiently exhibit the catalytic activity, and the present invention provides an exhaust gas purification system (1) configured to purify exhaust gas emitted from an internal-combustion engine, the exhaust gas purification system (1) including an exhaust gas path (2) through which exhaust gas flows, a first exhaust gas treatment section (3) provided upstream in the exhaust gas path (2), and a second exhaust gas treatment section (4) provided downstream in the exhaust gas path (2); wherein first catalyst layers of the first exhaust gas treatment section (3) each contain cerium element; wherein a percentage of the mass of the cerium element contained in the first catalyst layers in terms of cerium oxide, to the mass of the first catalyst layers, is 5.0% by mass or more and 13.0% by mass or less; and wherein second catalyst layers of the second exhaust gas treatment section (4) each contain rhodium element.
Movable emission control system for auxiliary diesel engines
A mobile emissions control system is provided for diesel engines operated on ocean-going ships at-berth. The emissions control system comprises two essential elements: an emissions capturing system and an emissions control system. The emissions control system may be mounted on a towable chassis or mounted on a barge, allowing it to be placed alongside ocean-going ships at-berth. The emission capturing system captures exhaust from a ship's diesel engine and conducts it into the emissions control system, which cleans the exhaust and then passes clean air into the atmosphere through an exhaust outlet.
CERIUM-TIN-BASED COMPOSITE OXIDE CATALYST FOR CATALYZING PURIFICATION OF NITROGEN OXIDE, PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION THEREOF
The present application relates to a cerium-tin-based composite oxide catalyst for catalyzing purification of a nitrogen oxide, a preparation method and an application thereof. The catalyst has the following chemical composition: a cerium-tin oxide and an M oxide, wherein the M is selected from any one of or a combination of at least two of P, Ti, Zr, V, Mn, Fe, Cu, Al, Si, Ni, Hf, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, or Re. According to the present application, a cerium-tin-based composite oxide catalyst having the characteristics such as high catalytic activity, high hydrothermal stability, excellent N.sub.2 generation selectivity, a wide operation temperature window, and adaptation to high space velocity reaction conditions is prepared by means of a non-toxic and harmless raw material and a simple method, and the present application is applicable to a device for catalyzing purification of a mobile source nitrogen oxide represented by diesel vehicle exhaust gas and a fixed source nitrogen oxide represented by flue gas from a coal-fired power plant.
METHOD FOR ADAPTION OF AN EXHAUST TREATMENT SYSTEM
The present invention relates to a method for adaption of an exhaust treatment system arranged for treating an exhaust stream produced by an engine, where the exhaust treatment system includes at least a first additive dosage device, a first selective catalytic reduction catalyst arranged downstream of the first additive dosage device, a second additive dosage device arranged downstream of the first selective catalytic reduction catalyst, and a second selective catalytic reduction catalyst arranged downstream of the second additive dosage device. The method includes initiating an adaption of the second selective catalytic reduction catalyst, and controlling, during the adaption of the second selective catalytic reduction catalyst, the first additive dosage device to inject additive in accordance with at least one injection rule being designed for the adaption.
ZONED DIESEL OXIDATION CATALYST
An oxidation catalyst is described for treating an exhaust gas from a diesel engine, which oxidation catalyst comprises: a substrate; a first washcoat region disposed on the substrate, wherein the first washcoat region comprises a first platinum group metal (PGM) and a first support material; a second washcoat region adjacent to the first washcoat region, wherein the second washcoat region comprises a second platinum group metal (PGM) and a second support material; a third washcoat region disposed on the substrate, wherein the third washcoat region comprises a third platinum group metal (PGM) and a third support material; and wherein either: (i) the third washcoat region is adjacent to the second washcoat region; or (ii) the second washcoat region is disposed or supported on the third washcoat region. Also described are uses and methods involving the oxidation catalyst.
EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING DEVICE OF INTERNAL-COMBUSTION ENGINE, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME
Provided is an exhaust gas purifying device of an internal-combustion engine, and a method of manufacturing the same, with which it is possible for a honeycomb carrier to be held securely within a case member using a low-cost, simple structure. The exhaust gas purifying device is provided with: a columnar honeycomb carrier 11 in which a plurality of cells which extend from an exhaust gas inflow side to an outflow side, and which serve as exhaust gas flow paths, are demarcated and famed by means of porous separating walls; a three-way catalyst supported in the honeycomb carrier 11; and a cylindrical case member 12 in which the honeycomb carrier 11 is housed, with the interposition of a retaining member 13. The honeycomb carrier 11 is provided with outer circumferential plugging portions 111a and 111b formed in such a way as to plug, to a prescribed depth, openings Ca and Cb of cells in an outer circumferential portion P of at least one end surface of the two end surfaces, in the central axis X-direction, of the honeycomb carrier 11; and inclined portions 112a and 112b formed in a direction whereby the length, in the central axis X-direction, of the outer circumferential plugging portions 111a and 111b decreases toward the outer circumferential edge. Further, the inclined portions 112a and 112b catch on the inner walls of the case member 12, with the interposition of the retaining member 13, thereby retaining the honeycomb carrier 11 in the case member 12.
Alumina Bismuth Catalyst Support and Method for Its Production
The invention provides for a method to prepare an alumina catalyst support comprising bismuth for emission control applications, to an alumina catalyst support prepared according to the method of the invention and to an alumina catalyst support comprising bismuth and having a specific crystallinity value that leads to improved technical effects.
HYDROCARBON RECLAMATOR
A hydrocarbon reclamator consists of a closed chamber having an exhaust inlet port, a hydrogen inlet port, and a hydrocarbon outlet port. A magnetic flux is generated at the base of the closed chamber and a rotor is suspended by the magnetic flux within the closed chamber. The rotor is formed as a Tesla turbine having axially spaced discs concentrically mounted on a central shaft, a catalyst is formed on surfaces of the discs, and flow holes are formed through the discs. Venturi forces direct gas to release kinetic energy against the discs, so that hydrogen entering the chamber combines with carbon entering the chamber to form a hydrocarbon that exits the chamber via the hydrocarbon outlet port.
Catalyst composition comprising magnetic material adapted for inductive heating
The invention provides a catalyst composition, including a mixture of catalytically active particles and a magnetic material, such as superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, capable of inductive heating in response to an applied alternating electromagnetic field. The catalytically active particles will typically include a base metal, platinum group metal, oxide of base metal or platinum group metal, or combination thereof, and will be adapted for use in various catalytic systems, such as diesel oxidation catalysts, catalyzed soot filters, lean NOx traps, selective catalytic reduction catalysts, ammonia oxidation catalysts, or three-way catalysts. The invention also includes a system and method for heating a catalyst material, which includes a catalyst article that includes the catalyst composition and a conductor for receiving current and generating an alternating electromagnetic field in response thereto, the conductor positioned such that the generated alternating electromagnetic field is applied to at least a portion of the magnetic material.
COMPOSITE, ZONE-COATED, DUAL-USE AMMONIA (AMOX) AND NITRIC OXIDE OXIDATION CATALYST
A composite, zone-coated, dual-use ammonia (AMOX) and nitric oxide oxidation catalyst (12) comprises: a substrate (5) having a total length L and a longitudinal axis and having a substrate surface extending axially between a first substrate end (I) and a second substrate end (O); two or more catalyst washcoat zones (1; 2) comprised of a first catalyst washcoat layer (9) comprising a refractory metal oxide support material and one or more platinum group metal components supported thereon and a second catalyst washcoat layer (11) different from the first catalyst washcoat layer (9) and comprising a refractory metal oxide support material and one or more platinum group metal components supported thereon, which two or more catalyst washcoat zones (1; 2) being arranged axially in series on and along the substrate surface, wherein a first catalyst washcoat zone (1) having a length L.sub.1, wherein L.sub.1<L, is defined at one end by the first substrate end (I) and at a second end (13) by a first end (15) of a second catalyst washcoat zone (2) having a length L.sub.2, wherein L.sub.2<L, wherein the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) comprises a first refractory metal oxide support material and one or more platinum group metal components supported thereon; and the second catalyst washcoat zone comprises a second refractory metal oxide support material and one or more platinum group metal components supported thereon; and a washcoat overlayer (G) extending axially from the first substrate end for up to 200% of the axial length of the underlying first catalyst washcoat layer, which washcoat overlayer comprising a particulate metal oxide loading of >48.8 g/l (>0.8 g/in.sup.3), wherein the particulate metal oxide is an aluminosilicate zeolite including at least one of copper, iron and manganese, wherein a total platinum group metal loading in the first catalyst washcoat zone (1) defined in grams of platinum group metal per litre of substrate volume (g/l) is different from the total platinum group metal loading in the second catalyst washcoat zone (2).
