FILTER MODULE CASE
The filter module case includes a casing, a cap, a first layer, and a second layer. The casing has a cylindrical shape. The cap has a cylindrical shape and defines a passage providing communication between the inside and the outside of the casing and receives an end portion of the casing and is bonded to the casing. The first layer is closer to an end and faces an outer peripheral surface of the casing and the inner wall surface of the cap. The second layer is closer to the center and faces the outer peripheral surface of the casing and the inner wall surface of the cap. The casing and the cap have organic solvent resistance. The first layer is formed of a first adhesive with organic solvent resistance. The second layer is formed of a second adhesive that has an affinity for hard-to-adhere materials and has a higher elasticity.
HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE MODULE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
A hollow fiber membrane module 10 has a hollow fiber membrane bundle 11 and a housing case 15. The housing case 15 has first molding members 17 and a second molding member 18. At each first molding member, a tubular portion 19 and a nozzle portion 20 are integrally molded. The second molding member 18 has a tubular shape coaxially continuous from the tubular portion 19. Values obtained by dividing, by the wall thickness of the second molding member, the wall thicknesses of the housing case 15 at positions separated in the axial direction from a connecting position toward the first molding member 17 side by distances of 3 times and 5 times the wall thickness of the second molding member 18 are 1.0 to 1.3 and 1.0 to 1.5, respectively.
SIMPLIFIED FLUID CONNECTION AND MEMBRANE FILTER
The invention concerns a set of tubular elastic coupling bodies arranged opposing at inlet and outlet of a filter cartridge.
The tubular elastic end coupling, comprises a tube end adapted to fit on the filter cartridge inlet/outlet. The elastic end coupling comprises one or more tubular fluid connections for conveying fluid to and from external means for fluid content separation purposes by said membrane filter cartridge.
Fluid circuit with integrated electrostatic discharge mitigation
A fluid circuit includes a plurality of tubing segments and a plurality of operative components. Each tubing segment includes i) a non-conductive polymer portion defining a fluid passageway and ii) one or more interior conductive fluoropolymer stripes extending axially to the ends of each of the respective tubing segments. Each operative component includes a conductive fluoropolymer that extends between a plurality of tubing connector fittings forming a part of the fluid circuit, wherein each of the tubing connector fittings conductively connect the respective conductor of the operative component to the interior conductive fluoropolymer stripes of the tubing segment to provide a path to ground that extends through each operative component and each tubing segment.
METHOD OF FILTRATION, METHOD OF DESALINATING SEA WATER, METHOD OF PRODUCING FRESH WATER, HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE MODULE, AND SEA WATER DESALINATION SYSTEM
A method of a filtration uses a hollow fiber membrane module comprising a module case; and a hollow fiber membrane bundle comprising a plurality of hollow fiber membranes bundled together and being accommodated in the module case, respective ends of the hollow fiber membranes being bonded together by a potting material. The filtration is carried out in the hollow fiber membrane module under a pressure of 0.3 to 1.2 MPa. The hollow fiber membrane module satisfies a relationship: 0.5<R/L<5 when the pressure inside the hollow fiber membrane module is 1.0 MPa without the hollow fiber membrane module being restrained, and satisfies relationships: 0<R<0.25 and 0<L<0.06 during an operation in an operation condition, where R (%) represents a radial expansion ratio at a center portion in a longitudinal direction, and L (%) represents a longitudinal expansion ratio, of the hollow fiber membrane module.
Biomimetically Designed Modular Microfluidic-Based Capillaries & Lymphatic Units for Kidney & Liver Dialysis Systems, Organ Bio-Reactors and Bio-Artificial Organ Support Systems
A technology that provides various modular biomimetic microfluidic modules emulating varieties of microvasculature in body. These microfluidic-base capillaries and lymphatic Technology modules are constructed as multilayered-microfluidic microchannels of various shapes, and aspect ratios using diverse biocompatible microfluidic polymers. Then, various semipermeable membranes are sandwiched in between these multilayered microfluidic microchannels. These membranes have different chemical, physical characteristics and MWCO values. Consequently, this design will produce much smaller dimension channels similar to human vasculature to achieve biomimetic properties like of human organs and tissues. By interchanging microfluidic-layers or the membranes various diverse modules are designed that act as building blocks for constructing various medical devices, various forms of dialysis devices including albumin and lipid dialysis, water purification, bioreactors bio-artificial organ support systems. Connecting various modules in diverse combinations, permutations, in parallel ad/or in series to ultimately design many unrelated medical devices such as dialysis, bioreactors and organ support devices.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXTRACORPOREAL CARBON MONOXIDE REMOVAL WITH PHOTOTHERAPY
Systems and methods for removing carbon monoxide from whole blood are provided. In one configuration, an extracorporeal phototherapy system includes an oxygenator and a light source configured to output light and arranged to emit the light output by the light source onto at least one surface of the oxygenator. The oxygenator includes a plurality of membrane layers each having a plurality of microporous hollow fiber membranes. The plurality of microporous hollow fiber membranes each include an external surface and an internal channel. Each of the plurality of membrane layers may be rotationally offset with respect to an adjacent layer. The oxygenator further includes a gas inlet port in fluid communication with a first end of the internal channels, a gas outlet port in fluid communication a second end of the internal channels, a blood inlet port, and a blood outlet port.
