The purifiers include a hydrogen-separation membrane module with at least one membrane cell containing at least one hydrogen-selective membrane, which includes a permeate face and an opposed mixed gas face, and a fluid-permeable support structure that physically contacts and supports at least a central region of the permeate face. The membrane cell further includes a permeate-side frame member and a mixed gas-side frame member. The permeate-side frame member is interposed between the hydrogen-selective membrane and the fluid-permeable support structure to physically contact a peripheral region of the permeate face and a peripheral region of the fluid-permeable support structure. The mixed gas-side frame member physically contacts a peripheral region of the mixed gas face. At least one of the permeate-side frame member and the mixed gas-side frame member is a graphite frame member.
METHOD OF FILTRATION, METHOD OF DESALINATING SEA WATER, METHOD OF PRODUCING FRESH WATER, HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE MODULE, AND SEA WATER DESALINATION SYSTEM
A method of a filtration uses a hollow fiber membrane module comprising a module case; and a hollow fiber membrane bundle comprising a plurality of hollow fiber membranes bundled together and being accommodated in the module case, respective ends of the hollow fiber membranes being bonded together by a potting material. The filtration is carried out in the hollow fiber membrane module under a pressure of 0.3 to 1.2 MPa. The hollow fiber membrane module satisfies a relationship: 0.5<R/L<5 when the pressure inside the hollow fiber membrane module is 1.0 MPa without the hollow fiber membrane module being restrained, and satisfies relationships: 0<R<0.25 and 0<L<0.06 during an operation in an operation condition, where R (%) represents a radial expansion ratio at a center portion in a longitudinal direction, and L (%) represents a longitudinal expansion ratio, of the hollow fiber membrane module.
BUBBLE FEED MEMBRANE DISTILLATION SYSTEM
Devices and techniques may improve the permeate productivity in membrane distillation separation by modifying the feed and/or coolant sides of a membrane distillation module depending on the membrane distillation configuration. The bubbling of a carrier gas through the feed liquid in the feed liquid side of the module can increase the turbulent dissipation rate and/or enhance mass transfer across the membrane pores.
MODULAR FILTRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system for further filtering a liquid extract material after an initial extraction process. In an embodiment, the system includes a semi-rigid filter cup that is substantially cylindrical, the filter cup having a top and a bottom, wherein the top is oriented to receive filter media prior to a filtration process, and material to be filtered during the filtration process. The filter cup includes an integrated deformable flange at the top of the filter cup, an integrated top o-ring that is integrated into the top of the integrated deformable flange and an integrated bottom o-ring that is integrated into the bottom of the integrated deformable flange.
Advanced double skin membranes for membrane reactors
A hydrogen permeable membrane device is provided that includes a porous ceramic layer having a material that includes zirconia, Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), /Al.sub.2O.sub.3, and/or YSZ /Al.sub.2O.sub.3, and a porous Pd film or porous Pd-alloy film deposited on the a mesoporous ceramic layer.
REVERSE OSMOSIS CENTRIFUGE
The reverse osmosis centrifuge converts rotational energy into fluid velocity and conserves the energy placed into the concentrate. As concentrate travels back towards the center of the reverse osmosis centrifuge, the velocity of the fluid is converted into rotational force, thus conserving energy placed into the concentrate. To accomplish this, the reverse osmosis centrifuge includes a support shaft, a plurality of receiving tubes, a plurality of housings with filters therein, a plurality of departure tubes, and a permeate trough. The plurality of receiving tubes are coupled to a top of the plurality of housings, while the plurality of departure tubes are coupled to a bottom of the plurality of housings. Centrifugal force creates the permeate and concentrate. The permeate exits the plurality of housings and is deposited into the permeate trough. The concentrate travels through, and exists from, the plurality of departure tubes.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING LIQUID COMPOSITION
A method for producing a liquid composition formed of a phosphorescent material and an organic solvent includes the steps of: dissolving a phosphorescent material in an organic solvent to prepare a mixed liquid, and filtering the mixed liquid by a filtering device. The filtering device is a housing or holder, a fluororesin membrane filter, and a filter support member. A material of a portion of the housing and holder in contact with the mixed liquid is a metal or a mixture of metal and at least one of glass, fluororesins, polyethylene not containing a phosphorus antioxidant, and polyethylene not containing an oxidized phosphorus antioxidant. A material of a portion of the filter support member in contact with the mixed liquid is at least one of metals, glass, fluororesins, polyethylene not containing a phosphorus antioxidant, and polyethylene not containing an oxidized phosphorus antioxidant.
RO Element with Integral Pressure Valve
A sea water desalination system and reverse osmosis element for use in a desalination system are provided. The reverse osmosis element includes a body of media material having opposed first and second ends. First and second end cap assemblies are adjacent the first and second ends of the body. A shell of wound composite material encapsulates and retains the body and first and second end cap assemblies together to define an integrated pressure vessel. Methods of assembling are also provided.
Method and System for Cleaning Membrane Filters
The disclosure relates to a system and method for cleaning filters, such as membrane filters. More particularly, a method and system are disclosed for retaining a plurality of small particulates, preferably in the shape of beads, which contact sludge or other despots on the membrane filters to remove unwanted debris that would otherwise form on the cleaning filters. In various embodiments, the plurality of small particulates are retained in a permeable enclosure formed of wedgewire.
