Method of preparing hierarchical porous channel molecular sieve membrane and application thereof

The invention relates to a method for preparing a hierarchical porous zeolite membrane and an application thereof, comprising the following steps: a mesoporous structure-directing agent is added to limit the growth of zeolite crystals, and self-assembled in the crystallization process to generate a mesoporous structure. Based on a seed crystal induced secondary nucleation mechanism, this method can realize one-step hydrothermal synthesis of hierarchical porous zeolite membrane with the advantages of mild and controllable synthesis conditions, simple process, good repeatability, reduced energy consumption and cost savings. The hierarchical porous zeolite membrane prepared by the method has good cut-off performance, and the cut-off molecular weight is adjustable between 200 to 500,000 Da.

A method for producing a crystalline film comprising zeolite and/or zeolite-like crystals on a porous substrate is described. The method has the steps of: providing a porous support; modifying at least a surface of the top-layer of said porous support by treatment with a composition having one or more cationic polymer(s); rendering at least the outer surface of said porous support hydrophobic by treatment with a composition having one or more hydrophobic agent(s); subjecting said treated porous support to a composition having zeolite and/or zeolite-like crystals thereby depositing and attaching zeolite and/or zeolite-like crystals on said treated porous support, and growing a crystalline film of zeolite and/or zeolite-like crystals on said treated porous support and calcination. Crystalline films find use in a variety of fields such as in the production of membranes, catalysts etc.

A zeolite membrane complex includes a porous support, and a zeolite membrane formed on the support and composed of an 8-membered ring zeolite. The zeolite membrane is selectively permeable to hydrogen sulfide rather than nitrogen for a gas containing nitrogen and hydrogen sulfide.

Zeolite membrane complex, method for producing zeolite membrane complex, and separation method

A zeolite membrane complex includes a porous support, and a zeolite membrane formed on the support. The zeolite membrane includes a zeolite crystal phase constituted by a plurality of zeolite crystals, and a dense grain boundary phase, which is a region between the plurality of zeolite crystals. A density of at least part of the grain boundary phase is smaller than a density of the zeolite crystal phase. A width of the grain boundary phase is 2 nm or more and 10 nm or less. Accordingly, it is possible to realize high permeability and high separating performance, and high durability of the zeolite membrane.

Seed crystals, method of producing seed crystals, method of producing seed crystals attachment support, and method of producing zeolite membrane complex

Seed crystals are crystals of zeolite to be attached onto a support in production of a zeolite membrane complex including the support and a zeolite membrane formed on the support. The specific surface area of the seed crystals is not smaller than 10 m.sup.2/g and not larger than 150 m.sup.2/g. The strength obtained from a crystal component at a diffraction angle 2θ indicating a maximum peak in a range of diffraction angle 2θ from 12° to 25° in an X-ray diffraction pattern obtained by emitting X-ray to the seed crystals is not less than once and not more than 30 times that obtained from an amorphous component. It is thereby possible to improve adherence of the seed crystals to the support.

PHOTOCURABLE COLOR CHANGING COMPOSITIONS AND METHOD OF FORMING FEATURES ON A MEMBRANE SURFACE USING THE SAME

Photocurable compositions that have a color change during curing and methods of preparation and use of such compositions. More particularly, the present invention relates to photocurable compositions that that have a color change during curing and are useful for forming topographical features, e.g., spacer features, and/or fold protection coatings on a portion of a membrane surfaces, and particularly on membranes used in osmosis and reverse-osmosis applications, such as membrane filters.

SUPERHYDROPHOBIC MEMBRANES AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME

The disclosure relates to superhydrophobic membranes and methods of making and using such membranes. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate is formed on sandpaper such that the PDMS substrate has a surface texture replicating the opposite impression of the sandpaper texture. Separately, a PVDF solution is prepared and disposed on the PDMS substrate. The PVDF substrate and liquid film combination are transferred to a solution of deionized water mixed with 2-propanol to form a PVDF film on the PDMS substrate. The PVDF film-PDMS substrate is transferred to a second DI water bath, after which the PVDF film is detached from the PDMS substrate. The PVDF film is then washed and dried, to yield a superhydrophobic PVDF membrane having the texture of sandpaper.
