METHOD FOR MAKING POROUS FILTER MEMBRANES
A method for producing a nano-porous membrane with one or up to four graphene layers, pores in the membrane having an average pore size in the range of 0.2-50 or 0.3-10 nm, wherein the method involves the following steps: a) generation of a contiguous, essentially non-porous membrane with one or up to four graphene layers; b) distributed point wise defect creation in the non-porous membrane with one or up to four graphene layers by way of irradiation; c) generation and successive growth of the pores at the defects generated in step b) by thermal annealing in the gas phase, e.g. under 02 at a temperature in the range of 250° C. to less than 400° C.
ULTRASONICALLY SURFACE MODIFIED POLYETHERSULFONE MEMBERS AND METHOD OF MAKING THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a method for treating the surface of a microporous polymeric membrane, comprising immersing a microporous polymeric membrane in a liquid; and applying ultrasonic waves to the microporous polymeric membrane immersed in the liquid.
Method for manufacturing zeolite membrane structure
A method for manufacturing a zeolite membrane structure comprises an immersion step for immersing a porous substrate in a synthetic sol, and a synthesis step for hydrothermally synthesizing a zeolite membrane on a surface of the porous substrate that has been immersed in the synthesis so. When the foamability of the synthetic sol is measured by a Ross-Miles method under a condition of 25 degrees C., the foam height after elapse of 5 minutes from completion of down flow is less than or equal to 5 mm.
Metal coated polymembrane
A metal coated polymer membrane, a method for the production thereof, an electrofiltration device, or an electrosorption device, and a method of electrofiltration and electrosorption using a metal coated polymer membrane. The polymer membrane is coated with metal using Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD).
Composite Poly (Aryl Ether Ketone) Membranes, Their Preparation And Use Thereof
Disclosed is the preparation of composite membranes formed by a tailored selective chemical modification of an ultra-thin nanoporous surface layer of a semi-crystalline mesoporous poly (aryl ether ketone) membrane with graded density pore structure. The composite separation layer is synthesized in situ on the poly (aryl ether ketone) substrate surface and is covalently linked to the surface of the semi-crystalline mesoporous poly (aryl ether ketone) membrane. Hollow fiber configuration is the preferred embodiment of forming the functionalized the poly (aryl ether ketone) membranes. Composite poly (aryl ether ketone) membranes of the present invention are particularly useful for a broad range of fluid separation applications, including organic solvent ultrafiltration and nanofiltration to separate and recover active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Metal-organic framework/polymer foam composite materials and their uses in decontamination and/or ballistic protection
A composite material is provided comprising a porous polymeric matrix having metal-organic framework (MOF) domains dispersed within the porous polymeric matrix, each of said MOF domains in fluid communication with the external environment through the pores in the porous polymeric matrix. A process of using the composite material to chemically modify or detoxify a chemical warfare agent or a toxic industrial chemical is also provided. The chemical warfare agent or the toxic industrial chemical is brought into contact with a MOF domain within the porous polymeric matrix so that the MOFs adsorb and chemically modify the chemical warfare agent or the toxic industrial chemical. A process for producing such a composite material is also disclosed.
Polymer membrane with vertically aligned pore channels and controlled pore surface chemistry
A nanoporous polymer membrane with vertically aligned pore channels can be synthesized through self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers on a supporting substrate. The pore surface chemistry can be functionalized for selective anion transport.
