NUTRIENT REMOVAL FILTRATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
Systems, devices, and methods for providing nutrient removals in an up flow filtration storm water system for treating water to very high clean levels using filtration media. A filtration media can be supported by a screen above a floor in a vault allows for incoming storm water to pass into a void space above the floor into the screen and filtration media and then out an outlet to the vault. The filtration media can include recyclable and/or natural particles. Layers of river rocks can be placed on top of and below the filtration media. The captured debris can drop to the floor. The long lasting filtration media can be cleaned by being backwashed.

A method including receiving a parameter change relating to an operating environment that includes an adjustable washbox, and automatically reconfiguring at least one operating dimension of a media pathway defined by the adjustable washbox to handle the parameter change. A method including monitoring at least one parameter that relates to operation of a media bed filter, and automatically adjusting an operating dimension of a media path associated with the media bed filter responsive to a change in the at least one parameter.

FLUIDIZED BED SORTER
A sorter for sorting a mixture having at least a first material with a first density from a second material with a second density different than the first density, comprising a container adapted to receive the mixture, a bed forming a base of the container provided with a series of openings extending from a bottom of the base to a top of the base, a granular layer positioned on the bed, and an air supply line providing air to the openings. In operation, the mixture is positioned above the granular layer, and the air supply supplies air to the granular layer at a rate sufficient to allow the sorting of the first material into a separate portion of the container from the second material.
FLUIDIZED BED SORTER
A sorter for sorting a mixture having at least a first material with a first density from a second material with a second density different than the first density, comprising a container adapted to receive the mixture, a bed forming a base of the container provided with a series of openings extending from a bottom of the base to a top of the base, a granular layer positioned on the bed, and an air supply line providing air to the openings. In operation, the mixture is positioned above the granular layer, and the air supply supplies air to the granular layer at a rate sufficient to allow the sorting of the first material into a separate portion of the container from the second material.
FLUIDIZED BED MEDIA CONTACT CHAMBER
A contact chamber in which a bed of fluid treatment media is fully fluidized by using a fluidizer. The fluidizer may be, for example, an internal or external eductor that acts as a pump for a media and fluid mixture to boost fluid flow and generate recirculation that keeps the media suspended in the fluid or an arrangement of nozzles, mixing blades, pumps, baffles, or irregular cross-sectional shapes (or combinations of any of these) to promote fully fluidizing the media in the chamber and causing the media to recirculate within the chamber.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WATER TREATMENT
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a system for treating water. The system comprises one or more inlets for introducing biochar and polyamine to the water, such as a biochar inlet and a polyamine inlet, or a biochar/polyamine mixture inlet. The system may optionally also include a metal salt inlet, ozone inlet, an additional organic carbon compound inlet, or any combination thereof. The biochar and polyamine may optionally be premixed prior to addition to the water. The system also comprises a filtration device, such as a reactive filtration device. The system produces a treated water stream and a reject stream, which may be further separated into a recycled water stream and a solid product. The solid product may be suitable as a soil amendment for application to agricultural land, or for recycling. A method for using the system to treat water, particularly nitrate-contaminated water, also is disclosed.

A filtration media supported by a screen above an angled floor in a vault allows for incoming storm water to pass into a void space above the angled floor into the screen and filtration media and then out an outlet to the vault. The filtration media can include recyclable and/or natural particles. Layers of river rocks can be placed on top of and below the filtration media. Water sprayers can further liquefy sediment and debris that fills the void space between the angled floor and the bottom of the screen. The captured debris can slide down the angled floor, where a vacuum hose from an above ground vacuum truck can remove the debris and sediment. The long lasting filtration media can be cleaned by being backwashed.
