A FILTER PLATE FRAME ASSEMBLY AND A HORIZONTAL FILTER PRESS, SUCH AS A TOWER PRESS, HAVING SUCH A PLATE FRAME ASSEMBLY
A filter plate frame assembly and a horizontal filter press, in which accidental over pressurization of the filter diaphragm is prevented. A filter plate frame assembly having a separate subframe is provided with a limited vertical travel with respect to the filter frame and the filter plate, such that the subframe is allowed to drop away from the filter plate when the filter chamber is opened. This enables a diaphragm to be attached to the subframe such that an escape route is formed for a pressurized medium accidentally introduced between the filter plate and the diaphragm. Moreover, the limited travel of the subframe allows the subframe to be pressed towards the filter plate when the filter chamber is closed, thereby allowing normal operation of the diaphragm for squeezing a filter cake.

A filter diaphragm for a horizontal plate and frame-type filter, such as a tower press, including a sheet like body and at least on a filter plate-facing side thereof, a continuous seal bead. The seal bead includes an inner seal lip on a lateral inside of the seal bead and an outer seal lip surrounding the inner seal lip on a lateral outside of the seal bead. The outer seal lip is elevated from the inner seal lip in a vertical direction perpendicular to a general plane defined by the diaphragm.

A filter diaphragm for a filter plate assembly of a recessed plate-type filter, such as a filter press or a tower press. The diaphragm includes a sheet-like body having a flexible structure, and, at least on a side of the body, a plurality of distinct attachment studs to be inserted into corresponding distinct attachment holes of a respective filter plate for attaching the diaphragm to the filter plate. The attachment studs are arranged along a sealing region extending along a periphery of the filter diaphragm and extend in a direction perpendicular to the diaphragm body. A plate for a filter press, a filter press, the use of such a filter press as well as a method of cleaning and sterilization of such a filter press. The plate for a filter press has a base body, consisting of a first material with a hardness H.sub.1 and having an outer circumferential surface, and a frame arranged on the outer circumferential surface, consisting of a second material with a hardness H.sub.2, where H.sub.2<H.sub.1, and wherein the frame has on at least one side surface at least one encircling seal protruding relative to the side surface.

A recess plate designed for use in a filter device for filtering a suspension includes a stationary head piece and a movable end piece, and a pack including copies of the recess plate, having a filter chamber inside the pack, adjoining the recess plate, having a first pipe for filling the suspension into the filter chamber, having a filter cloth for collecting a solid content out of the suspension, and having a second pipe for discharging a liquid fraction of the suspension out of the filter chamber as a filtrate, wherein the filter device may be closed before filtering by forcing the end piece in direction of the head piece, and opened after filtering by releasing the end piece, and moving the end piece away from the head piece for removing the filter cake from the filter cloth.

A filter (20) configured to separate the solid components and the liquid components from a slurry. The filter (20) includes a plurality of filter plate assemblies (46) that cooperate to define a plurality of filter chambers (70), each defining a perimeter (96) having an open section (98) when the filter plates (68) are in a closed position relative to one another. Each filter plate assembly (46) includes a closure (104) configured to close the open section (98). Preferably, the closures (104) are movable to an open position to permit a particulate cake to be removed from the filter chambers (70) without separating the filter plates (68).

ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING PRESSURE FILTER
Disclosed is an arrangement and method for controlling a pressure filter. The arrangement comprises the pressure filter for solid-liquid separation for producing a filter cake and a moisture analyzer for providing an indication of moisture content of the filter cake. One or more controllers may be used for utilizing the indication of moisture content to set a drying time for the solid-liquid separation.
