The present disclosure relates to a process for treating a feedstock containing tall oil, the process including separation of a light stream from the feedstock, followed by removal of a heavy fraction from the feedstock, in which process the separation of the light stream from the feedstock a fractionator is used and at least one product is collected from the light stream. The disclosure also relates to an apparatus for use in the process and use of a fractionator in dehydration of a feedstock containing tall oil.

ORGANIC SOLVENT PRODUCTION VIA DISTILLATION AND DEHYDRATION

The present disclosure provides for organic solvent production via distillation and dehydration by: directing portions of a feed stream to a first and second distillation columns operating at a different pressures from each other, wherein the organic solvent is preferably an alcohol and more preferably ethanol; generating, in the first distillation column, a vaporous first overhead stream; directing the vaporous first overhead stream directly to a rectification system; generating, in the second distillation column, a vaporous second overhead stream; forming a condensed second overhead stream from the vaporous second overhead stream; directing, at least a portion of the condensed second overhead stream to the rectification system; generating, via the rectification system, a third overhead stream; directing at least a portion of the third overhead stream to a separation system; and generating, in the separation system, an enriched solvent stream.

PLANT AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PURIFIED METHANOL

The present invention relates to a plant for removing C.sub.6-C.sub.11 hydrocarbons from methanol, comprising at least one reactor for the conversion of carbon monoxide and hydrogen to a crude methanol containing hydrocarbons, a distillation column with a head and a sump for the purification of the methanol, and at least one conduit for guiding the crude methanol from the at least one reactor into the distillation column. At its head, the distillation column includes a feed conduit for feeding in water.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ACETIC ACID

A process for separating or removing permanganate reducing compounds (PRC's) from a first mixture containing at least one PRC, methyl iodide, and water comprises the steps of: feeding the first mixture to a feed port of a distillation column, and distilling and separating the first mixture into an upper stream and a lower stream, wherein the distillation of the first mixture forms a second mixture at an upper position than the feed port, and the process further comprises the steps of: withdrawing the second mixture as the upper stream, and withdrawing the lower stream from a lower position than the feed port.

SEPARATION OF CANNABINOIDS FROM MIXTURES THEREOF BY DISTILLATION
20230002340 · 2023-01-05 ·

The present disclosure relates to isolating one or more cannabinoids from an input mixture. There is disclosed an apparatus that comprises a volatizing unit, a fractional distillation unit, and a condensing unit. The volatizing unit receives and volatilizes the input mixture to provide a cannabinoid-containing vapor stream and a residue. The fractional distillation unit comprises a plenum for receiving the cannabinoid-containing vapor stream and separates a first cannabinoid from at least a second cannabinoid. The condensing unit is configured to receive a portion of the cannabinoid-containing vapor stream comprising the first cannabinoid from the plenum and to form a condensed first cannabinoid output stream and a recirculate stream. There are also disclosed methods for isolating one or more cannabinoids employing a recirculate stream.

Process to produce high paraffinic diesel

This disclosure relates to new processes to produce high paraffinic diesel from crude oil, such as tight oil from the Permian basin. This disclosure also relates to high paraffinic diesel compositions and high paraffinic diesel blends.

METHOD OF CLEANING AN APPARATUS USED IN THE CONCENTRATION OF A MINERAL ACID

The present invention relates to a method for preparing an apparatus (or a plant comprising a plurality of apparatuses), for example a heat exchanger, a vaporizer or a distillation column, for use in a process (in particular a continuously operated process) for concentrating a mineral acid by evaporation of water, wherein the apparatus or the plant comprises (at least) a device which is resistant to the mineral acid and the device is flushed with an aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution having a concentration by mass of alkali metal hydroxide in the range from 1% to 30% at a temperature in the range from 40° C. to 90° C. for a time of from 2 hours to 7 days.

High-grade ethanol production process

The present disclosure provides high-grade ethanol production systems and methods that increase energy efficiency as compared to typical systems and methods by minimizing undesired acetal formation. The provided ethanol production method may include a low boilers removal distillation column and/or a stripper column constructed to simultaneously remove at least a portion of the acetaldehyde and at least a portion of the acetal from a feed stream in the presence of water. In some aspects, a low boilers removal process may be followed by a water removal process, which may be followed by a high boilers removal process. Acidity (e.g., carbon dioxide) may also be removed from a feed stream prior to or during the low boilers removal process. By minimizing acetal production, the provided method minimizes the amount of energy that is required to remove acetal when producing high-grade ethanol.
