Systems for utilizing crossflow filtration for cell enrichment
A disposable cell enrichment kit includes a crossflow filtration device configured to be disposed along a main loop pathway and to receive a process volume containing a biological sample and utilize crossflow filtration, via a micro-porous membrane, to retain a specific cell population in a retentate from the process volume and to remove a permeate including certain biological components from the process volume. The crossflow filtration device includes a laminated filtration unit that includes the micro-porous membrane, a first mating portion, a second mating portion, and a membrane support. The membrane support includes a first plurality of structural features that define a first plurality of openings, wherein the first plurality of structural features are coupled to the micro-porous membrane and provide support to the micro-porous membrane, and the first plurality of openings allow the permeate to flow through them after crossing the micro-porous membrane.
Water production for coffee brewing by electrodeionization
A resin-wafer electrodeionization (RW-EDI) apparatus for purifying water for coffee brewing comprises a cathode; an anode; and multiple porous solid resin wafer exchange units arranged in a stack between the cathode and the anode, and an air distributor adapted and arranged to aerate the water to be purified. Each unit comprises a monovalent cation exchange membrane (CEM), an anion exchange membrane (AEM), and an ion exchange resin wafer between the CEM and the AEM, which is in contact with, and in fluid flow connection with the CEM and AEM. Each resin wafer comprises a cation exchange resin and an anion exchange resin. The units are oriented with the CEM facing the cathode and the AEM facing the anode, with space between the units defining ion concentrate chambers. Bipolar ion exchange membranes separate the anode and cathode from their nearest resin wafer exchange units.
Humidifier
A humidifier having a multiplicity of metallic flow plates and a multiplicity of water transfer membranes, in particular for humidifying process gas for an electrochemical system or for HVAC applications is described. The humidifier has a construction in which the metallic flow plates and the water transfer membranes are arranged such that in each case at most one of the single-layer flow plates is arranged between adjacent water transfer membranes of the stack; and at least one of the water transfer membranes is in each case accommodated in a sealing manner, in particular clamped in a sealing manner, between the mutually facing sealing lines of adjacent flow plates of the stack. The humidifier has lower production costs, greater efficiency and lower weight.
Hemofilter for in vivo blood filtration
Hemofilters for in vivo filtration of blood are disclosed. The hemofilters disclosed herein provide an optimal flow of blood through the filtration channels while maintaining a pressure gradient across the filtration channel walls to enhance filtration and minimize turbulence and stagnation of blood in the hemofilter.
Hydrogen purification devices
Hydrogen purification devices and their components are disclosed. In some embodiments, the devices may include at least one foil-microscreen assembly disposed between and secured to first and second end frames. The at least one foil-microscreen assembly may include at least one hydrogen-selective membrane and at least one microscreen structure including a non-porous planar sheet having a plurality of apertures forming a plurality of fluid passages. The planar sheet may include generally opposed planar surfaces configured to provide support to the permeate side. The plurality of fluid passages may extend between the opposed surfaces. The at least one hydrogen-selective membrane may be metallurgically bonded to the at least one microscreen structure. In some embodiments, the devices may include a permeate frame having at least one membrane support structure that spans at least a substantial portion of an open region and that is configured to support at least one foil-microscreen assembly.

A motor vehicle with a fuel cell device having a humidifier is also provided.

SWITCHING SYSTEM OF EDR WATER PURIFIER WITH FOUR WAY SOLENOID VALVE
A switching system for an EDR water purifier has a first raw-water inlet end, a second raw-water inlet end, two four-way solenoid valves, an EDR membrane stack, a freshwater outlet end, and a wastewater outlet end. Each four-way solenoid valve has a first inlet end, a second inlet end, a first outlet end, and a second outlet end. The first inlet end of each four-way solenoid valve can communicate with one of the first outlet end and the second outlet end of the same four-way solenoid valve, and the second inlet end of the same four-way solenoid valve can communicate with the other one of the first outlet end and the second outlet end, to execute water-route switching. By switching two water routes passing through the EDR membrane stack, forming of limescale is alleviated, lifespan of the EDR membrane stack is extended, and water-purifying efficiency is improved.

The flat-plate filter for water treatment according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a piece-shaped filtration member comprising a first support and a membrane formed on both sides of the first support; and a support frame fitted in and coupled to the edge of the filtration member so as to support the filtration member, and having a flow path through which filtered water introduced from at least one surface of the filtration member flows, wherein a part of the filtration member is disposed in the flow path or at the edge of the flow path such that the first support is exposed.

An assembly includes a housing with opposite first and second layers. The first and second layers are spaced apart to define a confined interior space. A semi-permeable membrane is attached to the first layer, the semi-permeable membrane covering a porous area portion of the first layer. An outlet port and an inlet port are in fluid communication with the interior space. The assembly includes a first circulator for circulating a first fluid between the outlet port and the inlet port, and a second circulator for circulating a second fluid along an exterior surface of the semi-permeable membrane. The second circulator includes a fluid duct attached to or integrated within the housing. The fluid duct is isolated from the interior space and is porous to provide fluid access to an exterior surface of the semi-permeable membrane. The semi-permeable membrane forms a barrier allowing exchange of compounds across the membrane.
