Porous Composite Membrane for Solvent Extraction
An example porous composite membrane for solvent extraction is provided. The porous composite membrane includes a Janus membrane with a first side and a second side opposing the first side. The first side exhibits hydrophobic characteristics and the second side exhibits hydrophilic characteristics. At least one of the first side or the second side is sized to perform nondispersive membrane solvent extraction.
HYDROGEN PURIFICATION USING MOLECULAR DYNAMICS
A membrane is described for purifying or separating hydrogen from a multi-component gas stream such as syngas. This membrane uses a molecular pre-treatment, a transition metal, fluorine containing polymer, carbon fibers and carbon matrix sintered on a supportive screen. The membrane may be a bilayer membrane comprised of a layer containing high surface area carbon and another layer containing lower surface area carbon. Methods for purifying hydrogen are also described.

ELECTROSPUN NANOFIBROUS POLYMER MEMBRANE FOR USE IN AIR FILTRATION APPLICATIONS
An electrospun polymer nanofibrous membrane that provides high filtering efficiency and excellent porosity is disclosed herein. The membrane may be treated with one or more antimicrobial or antiviral agents. The treatment may preferably be a coating of one or more antiviral agents on the surface of the membrane. Alternatively, one or more antiviral agents may be impregnated into the membrane. The membrane may additionally or alternatively be impregnated with one or more metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The membrane has a high filtering efficiency and sufficient porosity to provide breathability characteristics. In some embodiments, the membrane is suitable for use in making facemasks and respirators that are highly resistant to infectious pathogens and/or other small particulates. In some embodiments, the membrane is suitable for use in HVAC applications. In some embodiments, the membrane is suitable for use in removal of VOCs and CO.sub.2 in conjunction with a carbon nanofiber membrane.
MULTILAYERED ION EXCHANGE MEMBRANES
An ion exchange membrane has multiple layers of ionic polymers which each contain substantially different chemical compositions. i.e. varying side chain lengths, varying backbone chemistries or varying ionic functionality. Utilizing completely different chemistries has utility in many applications such as fuel cells where for example, one layer can help reduce fuel crossover through the membrane. Or one layer can impart substantial hydrophobicity to the electrode formulation. Or one layer can selectively diffuse a reactant while excluding others. Also, one chemistry may allow for impartation of significant mechanical properties or chemical resistance to another more ionically conductive ionomer. The ion exchange membrane may include at least two layers with substantially different chemical properties.
SEPARATION MEMBRANE
The present invention provides a separation membrane that is suitable for separating an acid gas from a gas mixture containing the acid gas and has a high acid gas permeability. A separation membrane (10) of the present invention includes: a separation functional layer (1); a porous support member (3) supporting the separation functional layer (1); and an intermediate layer (2) disposed between the separation functional layer (1) and the porous support member (3), and including a matrix (4) and nanoparticles (5) dispersed in the matrix (4).
CERAMIC FLAT MEMBRANE
A flat ceramic membrane 1 has a plate-shaped porous support 21 made of ceramics and a filtration membrane 22 formed on an outer surface of the porous support 21. A plurality of water collection channels 2 where filtrate water obtained by permeation of water-to-be-treated through the filtration membrane 22 flows are formed inside the porous support 21. Further, a region where a thickness between a membrane surface 20 of the filtration membrane 22 and the water collection passage 2 is different is ensured inside the porous support 21.
ERI-structure zeolite membrane and membrane structure
A peak intensity of a (002) plane is greater than or equal to 0.5 times a peak intensity of a (100) plane in an X-ray diffraction pattern obtained by irradiation of X-rays to a membrane surface of the ERI membrane.
SINTERED POROUS BODY WITH MULTIPLE LAYERS
Described are porous, sintered inorganic bodies that include multiple layers made from different types of metal particles, that may be useful as filter membranes, and also to methods of making and using the porous, sintered inorganic bodies.
ZEOLITE MEMBRANE COMPLEX AND METHOD OF PRODUCING ZEOLITE MEMBRANE COMPLEX
A zeolite membrane complex includes a porous support and a zeolite membrane provided on the support and composed of RHO-type zeolite. In a case where a surface of the zeolite membrane is measured by an X-ray diffraction method, a peak intensity derived from a (310) plane of RHO-type zeolite is not higher than 0.4 times a peak intensity derived from a (110) plane thereof and a peak intensity derived from a (211) plane thereof is not higher than 0.3 times the peak intensity derived from the (110) plane.
