OIL-IN-WATER SILICONE EMULSION COMPOSITION FOR DIE CASTING RELEASE AGENT
Organopolysiloxane emulsions having improved release properties when employed in die casting, contain an organopolysiloxane with long chain alkyl groups and/or aryl groups, and a partially hydrophobicized silica as an emulsifying agent.
ORGANOFUNCTIONAL SILICON PARTICLES, PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF AND USE THEREOF
Organofunctional silicon particles are covalently functionalized on their surface with at least one organic compound, for example a plurality of —O—(C.sub.1-C.sub.48)-alkyl compounds. The functionalization of the surface of the silicon particles makes it possible to adjust the properties of fluids in terms of their profile of properties by addition of the modified silicon particles. For instance, the alkoxy-functionalized silicon particles may preferably be added to a motor oil as additives for reducing viscosity.
Silicone modified by long-chain hydrocarbon group-containing diglycerin derivative, and use thereof
The present invention provides a glycerin-modified silicone which has an excellent emulsification/dispersion performance and thickening effect when used alone, particularly when the oil phase is a continuous phase. The present invention is a specific diglycerin derivative-modified silicone having a long-chain hydrocarbon group at a prescribed ratio in a molecule and having as a hydrophilic group only a diglycerin derivative group not having an oxyalkylene structure with an average value of the number of repetitions of oxyalkylene units of two or more; and a composition containing the diglycerin derivative-modified silicone.
SURFACTANTS FOR INKS, PAINTS, AND ADHESIVES
Inks, paints, adhesives, and paint strippers may be formulated to include one or more surfactants, from one or more surfactant classes, such as siloxane derivatives of amino acids that have surface-active properties.
Asphalt release agent
A composition for promoting the release of bituminous materials and other adhesive materials from a substrate and methods of use thereof. More particularly, a composition comprising a silicone oil-in-water emulsion, which is stabilized by an alkoxylated polysiloxane surfactant, for use as a release agent that can be applied to a substrate, such as a truck bed, prior to use for promoting the free release of a bituminous material, such as asphalt, from the substrate.
Method of forming an antifoam granule containing a silicone polyether
An antifoam granule includes a carrier and an antifoam compound deposited on the carrier. The antifoam granule is formed using a method that includes providing an emulsion and contacting the emulsion with a carrier to deposit the antifoam compound on the carrier and form the antifoam granule. The emulsion includes an oil phase, an aqueous phase, and a silicone polyether. The oil phase includes an antifoam compound. The antifoam compound includes a hydrophobic fluid and a hydrophobic filler dispersed in the hydrophobic fluid. The aqueous phase includes a binder and water. The emulsion is formed using a method that includes combining the oil phase, the aqueous phase, and the silicone polyether to form the emulsion. The antifoam granule is also utilized in a method of facilitating rinsing of a detergent from a substrate that includes applying the detergent, including the antifoam granule, to the substrate and rinsing the substrate.
Nano-silica dispersion having amphiphilic properties and a double-particle structure and its production method
The present invention provides a nano-silica dispersion having amphiphilic properties and a double-particle structure and its production method. The production method comprises: producing a lipophilically modified nano-silica alcosol which is denoted as a first reaction solution by adding a silane coupling agent containing a lipophilic group to a nano-silica alcosol as a raw material; producing a hydrophilically modified nano-silica alcosol which is denoted as a second reaction solution by adding a silane coupling agent containing a hydrophilic group into a nano-silica alcosol as a raw material; producing the nano-silica dispersion having amphiphilic properties and a double-particle structure by adding 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane to the first reaction solution, stirring, then mixing the resultant with the second reaction solution. The present invention further provides a nano-silica dispersion having amphiphilic properties and a double-particle structure produced by the above production method. It has both hydrophilic and lipophilic properties, and has the double-particle structure, with a particle size of less than 100 nm. The production process is simple and low in cost.
OIL-PHASE COMPOSITION FOR GENERATING WATER-IN-OIL LIQUID DROPS BY MEANS OF CENTRIFUGATION
An oil-phase composition for generating water-in-oil droplets by means of centrifugation, consisting of the following components: 7-15% (v/v) of a long-chain alkyl-containing silicon-oxygen chain nonionic surfactant and 0-10% of mineral oil, with the balance being diethylhexyl carbonate; or consisting of the following components: 85-95% (v/v) of a long-chain alkane ester and 5-15% (v/v) of a long-chain alkyl-containing silicon-oxygen chain nonionic surfactant; or consisting of silicone oil and a surfactant. Also provided is a method for generating water-in-oil droplets by means of centrifugation using the oil-phase composition as a second liquid.
SILICONE SURFACTANTS FOR EMULSION ASSAYS
System, including methods and compositions, for making and using emulsions that include a silicone oil and a silicone surfactant. The emulsions may include aqueous droplets disposed in a continuous phase that includes a silicone oil and a silicone surfactant. The aqueous droplets may contain an analyte, optionally at partial occupancy, and/or a luminescent (e.g., photoluminescent) reporter. An assay of the analyte may be performed with the droplets. In some cases, signals may be detected from the droplets, and a characteristic of the analyte, such as an analyte level or activity, may be determined based on the signals.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR FORMING EMULSIONS
The present invention generally relates to compositions and methods for forming droplets and/or emulsions. In some embodiments, the compositions and methods comprise two or more components miscible at a first temperature and immiscible at a second temperature, dispersed in an outer phase.
