SINGLE-SCREW EXTRUDER
A single-screw extruder for conveying and plasticizing a meltable material, including a screw and a heated cylinder, wherein the screw is rotatably held in the heated cylinder, the screw has a core and a helical main flight, which is at a first distance from the internal wall of the cylinder, a region of a transition zone and a melting zone has at least two successive, non-overlapping barrier portions, and a cylinder-side outside flight surface of one or more overflow flights is chamfered in full or in part over a flight width such that a conical gap that gets narrower in an overflow direction is formed between the internal wall of the cylinder and the cylinder-side outside flight surface.
SOLDER PASTE ON DEMAND APPARATUS
A system and method are presented for producing solder paste having undercooled metallic core-shell particles. In one or more arrangements, the system includes a reconstitution assembly, a dispenser assembly, and a mixer, among other components. The reconstitution assembly is configured to place the cores of the solid core metallic core-shell particles into an undercooled liquid state to form a plurality of undercooled metallic core-shell particles. The dispenser assembly is configured to dispense one or more of a set of available flux components. The mixer assembly is configured to mix the one or more of the set of flux components dispensed by the dispenser assembly with the plurality of undercooled metallic core-shell particles formed by the reconstitution assembly to form a solder paste.
MIXING DEVICE AND METHODS OF OPERATION
Apparatus for mixing polymer, the apparatus comprising (i) a mixer housing including an internal chamber, said internal chamber having first and second sections in fluid communication with each other through a passageway; (ii) a first ram received in said first section; and (iii) a second ram received in said second section, where the apparatus is adapted to receive a composition including polymer within said internal chamber and move said composition between said first and second chambers through said passageway by operation of said first and second rams.

STATIC MIXER FOR BLENDING FLUIDS WITH MELT
A static homogenizing apparatus for blending a fluid additive with a polymer melt includes: (a) a homogenizing conduit; and (b) a plurality of homogenizing elements in the conduit for flow of the melted resin and fluid additive through the homogenizing elements in series. The plurality of homogenizing elements includes a plurality of mixing elements and at least one amplifier element. Each mixing element has a quantity of mixing channels passing therethrough, and each amplifier element has a quantity of amplifier channels passing therethrough. The quantity of amplifier channels is greater than the quantity of mixing channels.
APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING GLASS MELT INCLUDING TUBE SEGMENTS JOINED TOGETHER AT AN INTEGRAL SOLID-STATE JOINT AND METHODS
An apparatus for processing a quantity of glass melt comprises a segmented tube including a first tube segment and a second tube segment. A second end portion of the first tube segment is joined to a first end portion of the second tube segment. In further examples, methods of fabricating a segmented torsion tube include joining together segmented torsion tubes at an integral solid-state joint.
METHOD FOR PREPARING STARCH BLENDS
The present invention relates to a single-stage process for the production of starch blends in a twin-screw extruder or two twin-screw extruders arranged in series, where i) the starch, together with a plasticizer, passes through a wetting section of length 8D to 30D in an extruder or in a wetting section of length 8D to 80D if two extruders are used at temperatures below the gelatinization temperature of the starch, with mixing, where D is defined as the screw diameter of the screw cylinder and the wetting section is defined as starting at that point on the extruder screw at which the starch and the entire or partial quantity of plasticizer encounter one another and ending at that point in the extruder at which the starch is gelatinized and is digested to give thermoplastic starch; ii) in a plastifying section of length 10D to 50D the extruder temperature is adjusted stepwise to above 130° C., where the starch is digested, destructured and thermoplastified, and is dispersed in a starch-immiscible polymer, and a water content below 5%, based on the starch blend, is established before the material leaves the extruder; where the starch-immiscible polymer is added in molten or granular form at any desired point in the extruder, and a mixture of all of the components present is consequently produced.
AUTOMATED MIXING AND DISPENSING CLEANSER APPARATUS
An automated soap mixing and dispensing apparatus is configured to automatically melt a quantity of solid soap for mixture with a liquid carrier to provide a source of liquid soap solution. The apparatus includes a fluid reservoir configured to initially contain liquid carrier. A grill with apertures supports the solid soap. A heating element heats the solid soap to a molten state and the molten soap drips through the apertures into the liquid carrier. A rotary mixing unit mixes the molten soap with the liquid carrier to form the liquid soap solution. The dispensing apparatus may then be utilized to dispense the liquid soap for cleaning activities, such as personal hygiene. The apparatus improves the carbon footprint for hygiene activities by eliminating the requirement for plastic containers containing premixed liquid soap solutions.
