Cavitation reactor
11491450 · 2022-11-08 · ·

A cavitation reactor that may be obtained from a centrifugal pump is described. The reactor comprises a stator and a rotor having at least one centrifugal stage accommodated in a chamber of the stator. Two walls of the centrifugal stage define a gap therebetween, which is divided into compartments in fluid communication with the chamber of the stator at the peripheral portion of the centrifugal stage. The wall of the centrifugal stage that is next to the inlet opening of the chamber of the stator is closed at the central portion of the centrifugal stage, to thereby prevent the flow of fluid from the inlet opening to the peripheral portion of the centrifugal stage through the gap.

The invention relates to a generator and its operation and use for generating toroidal and spatial vortices in a liquid. It comprises a rotationally symmetrical stator housing with an inlet opening and an eccentric outlet opening. It further comprises a rotor rotatably arranged in the stator housing with radially outwardly extending channels in constant fluid connection to the inlet opening. The rotor comprises a rotor disc, radially outside of the rotor with a side surface with inner notches in fluid connection to the rotor channels. The stator housing comprises a stator disc comprising a side surface with stator notches. When these notches face each other due to rotation of the rotor disc, a periodical liquid flow from the inner notches to the stator notches is formed and toroidal vortices are generated in the portioned liquid by shear stress as the portions of liquid move back and forth in the notches.

A method of evaporating a fluid is provided. The method comprises forming a flow with toroidal vortices in the fluid, such that the fluid is exposed to alternating flow velocities and alternating pressures, thereby increasing evaporation of the fluid. A method of precipitating salt out of an aqueous solution is also provided. The method comprises forming a flow with toroidal vortices in the aqueous solution, such that the aqueous solution is exposed to alternating flow velocities and alternating pressures, thereby initiating precipitation of salts from the solution.

DISPERSING AND GRINDING DEVICE

A dispersing and grinding device for dispersing or grinding particles in a particle-containing liquid with a shear force generated when the particle-containing liquid passes through a gap, the dispersing and grinding device including: a casing; a rotor, a stator, and an impeller; and drive means. The gap is defined between the stator and the rotor. When the rotor and the impeller are rotated by the drive means, the particle-containing liquid is allowed to flow into the casing through an inflow portion of the casing by a rotating force of the impeller, and passes through the gap to cause the particles in the particle-containing liquid to be dispersed or ground with a shear force generated when the particle-containing liquid passes through the gap.
