Liquid-liquid mixing device suitable for sample preparation by liquid-liquid extraction

A liquid-liquid mixing device (10, 210) includes a barrel (20, 220) with a liquid port (23) at or adjacent one end. A plunger assembly (30) is reciprocably moveable along an axis in the barrel (20, 220) and includes a seal member (31, 231) and an agitator (50, 250). The seal member (31, 231) is in sealingly slidable engagement with the internal wall of the barrel (20, 220) to define a variable volume chamber (24, 224) therein in communication with the liquid port. The agitator (50, 250) is reciprocably moveable in the variable volume chamber (24, 224), which agitator (50, 250) includes one or more end to end passages (54) through which liquid in the chamber (24, 224) is forced as the agitator (250) reciprocates in the chamber (24, 224). The device (10) also includes a mode selector mechanism (60, 28, 46, 64, 65, 90, 92, 94, 96) for selection between at least two modes of operation for the plunger assembly, wherein the mode selector mechanism (60, 28, 46, 64, 65, 90, 92, 94, 96) is adjustable between two or more modes whereby movement of the plunger assembly (30) effects either movement of the agitator (50, 250) with the seal member (31, 231) or movement of the agitator (50, 250) relative to the seal member (31, 231), depending on the selected mode.

The present invention relates to a mixer and applicator device for mixing and applying a compound obtained by means of mixing two products which comprises: a casing which internally houses a movable push rod, where the casing allows housing a container which is fixed to the casing, a drill or rotor for driving the movable push rod, a base part coupled to a rear portion of the drill or rotor, at least one guide which is secured at a first end on the base part and at a second end on the casing where the ends of the at least one guide are fixed on the casing such that the at least one guide allows the fixing and rotation of the casing, and at least one member going through the at least one guide respectively such that the rotation of the casing does not take place in response to the actuation of the drill or rotor. As a result of this device it is possible, using the same device, to prepare a compound by means of mixing a base product and a catalyst and to further be able to dispense it without having to perform any disassembly or adaptation whatsoever in the container or in the means used for the mixing.

METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF GRIT IN A SLAKER EQUIPPED WITH A GRIT COLLECTOR

Methods and a slaker for removal of heavy grit during batchwise slaking of burnt lime in a slaker (2) for the production of lime slurry with a high degree of fineness and prolonged sedimentation time are described, where the following processing steps are carried out during the slaking process: a)—reduction of the stirring of the slaker (2) from a normal stirring speed to a lower stirring speed, b)—opening of an upper inlet valve (60) in a collector (70) mounted in the lower part (54) of the slaker (2) to lead sinking grit in the slurry batch to the collector (70), whereupon the upper inlet valve (60) is closed after a given time period, c)—increase the stirring in the slaker (2) back to the normal stirring speed, d)—after a given time period with normal stirring speed, a regulating valve (22) in the lower part (54) of the slaker (2) is opened for emptying of a batch of slurry to an external storage tank (3), and e)—when said regulating valve (22) is opened for emptying of a batch of slurry, a lower outlet valve (62) in the collector is optionally opened for emptying of collected grit.

FROZEN PRODUCT MACHINE

A frozen product machine that solves problems associated with conventional home ice cream and frozen product machines by prevents loss of product in the chamber and decreases freezing time for a liquid product. A cooling chamber is cooled by a cooling element that provides variable cooling temperatures throughout the cooling chamber. A temperature gradient, progressing from lower temperatures at the bottom of the chamber, or the outlet, to higher at the top of the chamber, or inlet, create a more efficient means of cooling a frozen product. An auger, that may be shaped to match the shape of the cooling chamber may include slots that allow for controlled flow of frozen product through the chamber to promote efficient cooling. Hinged fins may rotate from open to closed within the slot to further enhance flow of frozen product through the frozen product machine.

A bone filler mixing and delivery device includes a mixing section adapted to mix components to form bone filler. A syringe barrel is coupled to the mixing section and has an opening through which the bone filler can be dispensed. A controllable portal can be manipulated to open a flow path between the mixing section and the syringe barrel. A plunger assembly is adapted to extend telescopically in an axial direction through the syringe barrel to dispense the bone filler through the opening.

Mixing Device and Methods For Making Bone Cement

A mixing device and methods for making bone cement. A piston (156) of the mixing device is located in a first region (158) of a chamber (112) such that a mixing paddle (154) rotates to mix bone cement components at a first pressure to make a bone cement mixture. The piston (156) is moved passed an inlet opening (136) to be located within a second region (160) of the chamber (112) to compress the bone cement mixture to a second pressure greater than the first pressure to compress the bone cement mixture and make the bone cement. The bone cement may be transferred to a delivery device. The mixing device may include features that automatically initiate the compression and transferring phases after completion of the mixing phase, and further include features that automatically terminate the operational cycle. A three-step intuitive workflow utilizing the mixing device to improve efficiency in the surgical suite is also disclosed.
