FILTER AIDS FOR NON-AQUEOUS LIQUIDS
A method for filtering a non aqueous liquid such as a biodiesel to reduce the levels of sterol glucosides and/or saturated monoglycerides.
Filter aids
The present disclosure includes compositions and methods for filtering a liquid, e.g., water. The compositions herein may include a filter aid comprising a filter medium and packaging having at least one water-soluble portion. When the filter aid is introduced into the liquid to be filtered, the water-soluble portion(s) may dissolve or otherwise degrade in order to expose the filter medium to the liquid.
NEUTRALIZING ABSORBENT FOR DECONTAMINATING LEAKED CHEMICAL SUBSTANCE, METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME, AND NEUTRALIZER FILLED WITH THE SAME
The present invention relates to a neutralizing absorbent for decontaminating a leaked chemical substance, a method of preparing the same, and a neutralizer filled with the same. The neutralizing absorbent for decontaminating a leaked chemical substance according to the present invention includes an inorganic adsorbent, which is commonly usable in neutralizing absorption of acidic, basic, and/or organic chemical substances, at 40 to 60 wt %, a thickener at 20 to 30 wt %, a surfactant at 20 to 30 wt %, and a color change indicator, and is formulated in a solid state. The neutralizing absorbent is effective in promptly and safely taking an initial action regardless of the type, nature, and characteristics of acidic, basic, and/or organic chemical substances leaked in the leakage accident of the chemical substance, and accordingly, is useful in preventing secondary accidents. Also, when the neutralizing absorbent is used, there are no concerns about the spread of contamination due to water generated by an acid-base reaction, concerns about the additional occurrence of secondary contamination due to a decontaminating agent can be minimized by using a non-toxic chemical absorbent, and a decontamination process can be visually checked in real time regardless of the type, nature, and characteristics of the leaked chemical substance. Furthermore, when a neutralizer filled with the neutralizing absorbent for decontaminating a leaked chemical substance according to the present invention is used, the leaked chemical substance can be more safely and effectively decontaminated during an initial action.
Litter compositions
Provided herein are compositions and methods comprising a fragrance and from about 0.5 weight % to about 5.0 weight % of a granular malodor adsorbent which can be used to eliminate malodor in animal waste. The granular malodor absorbent can be granular molecular sieves or granulated activated carbon and has a pore size from about 0.4 nm to about 2.0 nm and a total surface area from about 100 m.sup.2/g to about 1500 m.sup.2/g.
Co-Agglomerated Composite Materials
A composite filter aid may include diatomaceous earth, natural glass, and a precipitated silica binder, wherein the filter aid has a permeability ranging from 3 to 20 darcys. A composite filter aid may include diatomaceous earth, perlite, and a precipitated silica binder, wherein the filter aid has an alpha density less than 15 lbs/ft.sup.3. A method for making a composite material may include blending diatomaceous earth and perlite, adding alkali silicate to the blended diatomaceous earth and perlite, and precipitating the alkali silicate as a binder to make the composite material. A method for filtering a beverage may include using a composite filter aid and/or composite material.
MOISTURE CONTROL MODULE FOR AUTOMOBILE LAMPS
Proposed is a moisture control module for an automobile lamp, the moisture control module includes a moisture absorption composition in the accommodating part and seals the moisture absorption composition with a breathable film and a cover, thereby reducing mounting time, space, and cost as compared with a pouch type absorbent. In addition, the moisture absorption performance continues for a long time, and when used in a closed device, which is prone to dew condensation inside according to temperature changes, especially when used in automobile lamps, the internal humidity is kept low, so that dew condensation does not occur inside, and at the same time, has the effect of preventing damage to the packaging material, etc.
Pet litter having an activated carbon layer and methods of making the litter
A method of making absorbent granules can include mixing activated carbon with a liquid and a binder to form a slurry; applying the slurry to particles of absorbent core material to at least partially coat the particles of the core material with a first distinct layer containing the activated carbon; and applying a clumping agent to the first distinct layer to at least partially coat the first distinct layer with a second distinct layer containing the clumping agent. The absorbent granules can be used as a deodorizer and/or a pet litter, and each of the absorbent granules can include an absorbent core, a first distinct layer containing activated carbon, and a second distinct layer containing a clumping agent such that the first distinct layer is between an outer surface of the absorbent core and an inner surface of the second distinct layer.
Sorbents for the oxidation and removal of mercury
A promoted activated carbon sorbent is described that is highly effective for the removal of mercury from flue gas streams. The sorbent comprises a new modified carbon form containing reactive forms of halogen and halides. Optional components may be added to increase reactivity and mercury capacity. These may be added directly with the sorbent, or to the flue gas to enhance sorbent performance and/or mercury capture. Mercury removal efficiencies obtained exceed conventional methods. The sorbent can be regenerated and reused. Sorbent treatment and preparation methods are also described. New methods for in-flight preparation, introduction, and control of the active sorbent into the mercury contaminated gas stream are described.
SORBENTS FOR THE OXIDATION AND REMOVAL OF MERCURY
Various embodiments disclosed relate to sorbents for the oxidation and removal of mercury. The present invention includes removing mercury from a mercury-containing gas using a halide-promoted and optionally ammonium-protected sorbent that can include carbon sorbent, non-carbon sorbent, or a combination thereof.
