WATER PURIFICATION FILTER
An object of the present invention is to provide a water purification filter comprising activated carbon as a filtration material and a biodegradable polymer as a binder component, which water purification filter has a filtration flow rate sufficient for practical use as a pot-type water purifier while maintaining a certain free residual chlorine filtration capacity, and has a certain degree of hardness and excellent handleability. Provided is a water purification filter obtained by winding a nonwoven sheet containing fibrous activated carbon and a heat fusible core-sheath composite fiber and then heat fusing the sheet, wherein the heat fusible core-sheath composite fiber includes a sheath portion containing a biodegradable polyester resin having a melting point of 80 to 140° C. and a core portion containing a synthetic resin having a melting point at least 20° C. higher than the melting point of the biodegradable polyester resin, and wherein the water purification filter has a density of 0.12 to 0.30 g/cm.sup.3 and a specific surface area of 500 to 1800 m.sup.2/g.
Dehumidifying element, dehumidifying device including dehumidifying element, and method of manufacturing dehumidifying element
A dehumidifying element includes a plurality of sheets that have moisture adsorption and desorption properties and that are stacked on top of each another. At least some of the sheets each have an irregular shape. The sheets each contain a hygroscopic agent having properties of a re-moistening-type glue that exhibits adherence when adsorbing moisture and that solidifies when being dried. The sheets are bonded to each other by the hygroscopic agent.
SORBENT DEVICES
A layered sorbent material sheet includes a substrate sheet and a spacer sheet. The spacer sheet defines a plurality of spaced apart sorbent material strips. The sheets may be layered or rolled together. Multiple layers of alternating sheets are also disclosed. In some embodiments, the sorbent material sheets are arranged in a stacked configuration.
SELECTIVE ADSORBENT FABRIC FOR WATER PURIFICATION
A water purification chamber is provided. In one embodiment, a system comprises a purification chamber comprising a selective adsorbent activated carbon fiber fabric including one or more selective functional groups that bind arsenic.
Apparatus for hydrocarbon removal
A hydrocarbon removal apparatus includes a plurality of fibers and a backing substrate. Each of the plurality of fibers includes a proximal end and a distal end. Each proximal end is secured to the backing substrate.
Assembly of structured adsorbent modules
Adsorbent layer for adsorbing a fluid, comprising at least two adjacent modules of structured adsorbent, arranged in parallel in the direction of circulation of the fluid, characterized in that at least one of the two facing surfaces of the two adjacent modules is an adsorbent surface.
MODIFICATION OF ZEOLITIC IMIDAZOLATE FRAMEWORKS AND AZIDE CROSS-LINKED MIXED-MATRIX MEMBRANES MADE THEREFROM
Disclosed is a method of modifying a metal-organic framework (MOF), the modified MOF, and methods for using the same. The method of modification can include heating a mixture comprising an azide compound and a MOF to generate a nitrene compound and nitrogen (N2) from the azide compound and covalently bonding the nitrene compound to the MOF to obtain the modified MOF.
TARGETED APHERESIS TO TREAT PREECLAMPSIA
This invention teaches a targeted apheresis method of treating a pregnant woman with preeclampsia, or who is predisposed to developing preeclampsia, utilizing immobilized binding agents contained within an apheresis device to remove sVEGFR-1 and sVEGFR-2, and one or more other harmful factors associated with preeclampsia selected from a list that includes: sEndoglin, Endothelin-1, TNF, IL-1, IL-6, IL-12, IL-18, digitalis-like factor, ouabain-like factor,
marinobufagenin, .marinobufotoxenin, and telocinobufagin. The binding agents used are antibodies or aptamers or binding peptides. Reducing the concentration of sVEGFR-1, sVEGFR-2 and other harmful factors in the pregnant woman's blood using targeted apheresis will alleviate or delay the symptoms of preeclampsia, and thus postpone premature delivery of the baby so that the baby is born at term or as close to term as possible.
EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL ARTICLES INCLUDING ACTIVATED CARBON
The present disclosure relates to hydrocarbon emission control systems. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to substrates coated with hydrocarbon adsorptive coating compositions and evaporative emission control systems for controlling evaporative emissions of hydrocarbons from motor vehicle engines and fuel systems. The hydrocarbon adsorptive coating compositions include particulate carbon having a BET surface area of at least about 1300 m.sup.2/g, and at least one of (i) a butane affinity of greater than 60% at 5% butane; (ii) a butane affinity of greater than 35% at 0.5% butane; (iii) a micropore volume greater than about 0.2 ml/g and a mesopore volume greater than about 0.5 ml/g.
Modified Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Compositions, Process of Making and Process of Use Thereof
This invention relates to modified MOF materials, methods of preparing them and processes using them. A modified MOF of the invention is modified by impregnating a MOF with an inorganic metal salt. The starting MOF contains at least one linker or ligand which contains an aryl amino group as part of its structure. These modified MOFs are able to adsorb either basic or acidic toxic industrial compounds (TIC). The modified MOFs can be used to remove TICs from various gaseous streams such as air.
