PRODUCT FOR METAL ADSORPTION
A product for adsorbing one or more heavy metals from a liquid is disclosed. The product may comprise attapulgite that has been surface functionalized with a surface coating agent that includes one or more mercury affinity functional groups that chemically bond to the attapulgite surface, wherein the weight percentage of components of the product includes: 91-99 wt. % attapulgite and 1-9 wt. % surface coating agent that includes the one or more mercury affinity functional groups. The product has a surface area in the range of 115-145 m.sup.2/g as measured using the BET method. The heavy metal includes mercury and/or lead. Also disclosed is a method of producing the product and a method of adsorbing at least one heavy metal in a liquid using the product.

PROCESS AND PRODUCTS FOR REMOVAL OF CONTAMINANTS IN LIQUID COMPOSITIONS
Functionalized polymer adsorbents for removing impurities from a feed stream comprising an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) include particles of functionalized with at least one functional moiety capable of binding one or more contaminants, the polymer being a macroreticular polymer and the functionalized polymer adsorbents having a pore volume of at least 0.65 cm.sup.3/g. Alternatively, the adsorbent can comprise a polymer functionalized with either 2,4,6,-dimercaptotriazine-ethylenedithiol (DMT-EDT) adduct, 2,4,6,-trimercaptotriazine-ethylenedithiol (TMT-EDT) adduct, or a combination thereof, and the polymer can be either a macroreticular polymer or a swellable polymer. The adsorbents can be used in either continuous or batch processes for removing contaminants from an API-containing feed stream wherein the contaminants can include elemental impurities, particularly palladium.
ZEOLITE ADSORBENTS HAVING A HIGH EXTERNAL SURFACE AREA AND USES THEREOF
The present invention concerns the use, for gas separation, of at least one zeolite adsorbent material comprising at least one FAU zeolite, said adsorbent having an external surface area greater than 20 m.sup.2.Math.g.sup.−1, a non-zeolite phase (PNZ) content such that 0<PNZ≦30%, and an Si/Al atomic ratio of between 1 and 2.5. The invention also concerns a zeolite adsorbent material having an Si/Al ratio such that 1≦Si/Al<2.5, a mesoporous volume of between 0.08 cm.sup.3.Math.g.sup.−1 and 0.25 cm.sup.3.Math.g.sup.−1, a (Vmicro−Vmeso)/Vmicro ratio of between −0.5 and 1.0, non-inclusive, and a non-zeolite phase (PNZ) content such that 0<PNZ≦30%.
Metal-Organic Material Extrudates, Methods of Making, and Methods of Use
The present disclosure relates to compositions including metal-organic framework materials and a polymeric binder. The compositions may have a crush strength of about 2.5 lb-force or greater. The present disclosure also relates to processes for producing metal-organic framework extrudates. Processes may include mixing a metal-organic framework material, a polymeric binder, and optionally a solvent to form a mixture. The process may also include extruding the mixture to form a metal-organic framework extrudate.

METHOD OF PURIFYING ALPHA-OLEFIN AND COMPOSITION FOR PURIFYING ALPHA-OLEFIN THEREFOR
Provided are a method of purifying an alpha-olefin and a composition for purifying an alpha-olefin therefor. More specifically, a method of purifying an alpha-olefin having an excellent effect of removing impurities in the alpha-olefin and a composition for purifying an alpha-olefin therefor are provided.
Chromatography media and devices
Chromatography devices contain chromatography media and methods of making and methods of using chromatography devices. Chromatography devices enable a more efficient, productive and/or environmentally friendly chromatographic operation due to one or more of the following advantages over conventional chromatographic operations: elimination of a device packing step by the user; elimination of clean-in-place (CIP) steps; elimination of clean-in-place (CIP) steps utilizing sodium hydroxide solution; elimination of any validation steps by the user; and use of a chromatography device comprising biodegradable material. The chromatography media includes porous inorganic particles having a functionalized surface and having a median pore size of at least about 300 Angstroms (A), or at least about 300 A up to about 3000 A. The inorganic particles may have a BET surface area of at least about 20 m2/g, or at least about 25 m2/g, or about 30 m2/g, up to about 2000 m2/g.
Functionalized porous organic polymers as uranium nano-traps for efficient uranium extraction
Compositions are provided for efficient uranium extraction, for example from wastewater, seawater, or other water sources. The compositions can include a functionalized porous organic polymer functionalized with one or more uranium binding moieties, e.g. having a plurality of amidoxime or amidrazone groups covalently attached thereto. The compositions can include covalent organic frameworks, porous aromatic frameworks, and various porous organic polymers, especially those having a hierarchical pore size distribution over a range of pore sizes. The compositions can have functional groups such as amidoxime or an amidrazone covalently attached thereto. The hierarchical pore size distribution can be determined based upon at least 60% of the pore sizes in the range of pore sizes having a pore volume of at least 0.01 cm.sup.3 g.sup.−1 in the pore size distribution at 77 K. Methods of making the compositions and methods of using the compositions are also provided.

The present invention provides a separation material that comprises porous polymer particles comprising a styrene-based monomer as a monomer unit; and a coating layer comprising a macromolecule having hydroxyl groups, which covers at least a portion of the surface of the porous polymer particles, and the separation material has a 5% compressive deformation modulus of 100 to 1,000 MPa, and has a mode diameter in the pore size distribution of 0.1 to 0.5 μm.
