Ligand bound MBP membranes, uses and method of manufacturing

Compositions and methods are described for self-assembled polymer materials having at least one of macro, meso, or micro pores.

Polymeric sorbent, preparation and use thereof

Polymer sorbents selectively remove cytokines and bacterial endotoxins from whole blood and other body liquids, in particular blood plasma, lymph etc., as well as from aqueous protein solutions and aqueous organic compound solutions, also containing inorganic salts. The sorbent is able to remove both cytokines and bacterial endotoxins, improve selectivity of the polymer sorbents in respect to the compounds as well as provide a simple and effective method of producing said sorbent.

Activated Carbon and Method of Fabrication Thereof

The present invention relates, in general terms, to methods of forming activated carbon. The method of forming activated carbon comprises mixing carbon black with an activation catalyst and heating the carbon black in order to form the activated carbon. The present invention also relates to applications of activated carbon as disclosed herein. In a preferred embodiment, the activation catalyst is selected from ammonium persulfate, sodium persulfate, potassium persulfate or a combination thereof.

SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE REMOVAL OF AIR OF PASSENGER CABINS OF VEHICLES

The present invention relates to systems and methods for conrolling the atmosphere in the cabin (1) of a vehicle. The system comprises a carbon dioxide removal conduit (2) comprising a regenerable carbon dioxide removal chamber (5,6) containing a carbon dioxide sorbent material and a regeneration circuit (7) arranged to expel the desorbed carbon diocide at a location exterior (8) of the cabin (1) The system is operable to maintain a carbon dioxide level below 1000 ppm in the passenger cabin for a period of at least 5 minutes while restricting the flow of air from outside the vehicle into the passenger cabin to 10 L/s or less.

Chromatography media and method

Adsorptive media for chromatography, particularly ion-exchange chromatography, derived from a shaped fiber. In certain embodiments, the functionalized shaped fiber presents a fibrillated or ridged structure which greatly increases the surface area of the fibers when compared to ordinary fibers. Also disclosed herein is a method to add surface pendant functional groups that provides cation-exchange or anion-exchange functionality to the high surface area fibers. This pendant functionality is useful for the ion-exchange chromatographic purification of biomolecules, such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).

The present invention relates to chromatography ligands having improved caustic stability, e.g., ligands based on immunoglobulin-binding proteins such as, Staphylococcal protein A, as well as methods of making and using such ligands.

Composition of matter for adsorbing scents and releasing active ingredients
11358120 · 2022-06-14 ·

A composition of matter is described characterized by its qualities to adsorb scents present in gas, liquid and solid matter phases, while simultaneously serving as a carrier for an active ingredient or combination of active ingredients. The composition may also include an additive. The active ingredients are simultaneously and/or independently released gradually by the carrier, or a combination of carriers.

Composite particle and method for removing contaminants from liquids

Described here is a free-standing composite particle with a large surface area. The particle is capable of adsorbing heavy metal contaminants from water. The particle itself is comprised of a granular activated carbon particle to which are attached one or more carbon nanotubes, the combination of which is covered by at least a partial thin film of polydopamine or other polymeric material derived from dopamine-like compounds. The composite particles are mixed with contaminated water, after which the water and particle mixture is injected into a hydrocyclone separator specifically designed for use with the composite particle. The hydrocyclone separator removes the particles from the water, allowing the particles holding the contaminants to be extracted for treatment, while the purified water flows out of the separator for reuse. The separated particles can be treated to remove all the adsorbed contaminants, after which the reclaimed particles may be reused.

Oxygen absorbing and carbon dioxide emitting composition

A composition that absorbs oxygen and emits carbon dioxide in response to absorbing oxygen including ascorbic acid, an organic acid, a catalyst that promotes oxidation of the organic acid and emission of carbon dioxide and a soluble transition metal salt characterized by multiple oxidation states.

LITHIUM ION ADSORBENTS

A lithium ion sorbent includes an organosilane-grafted lithium ion sieve. The organosilane-grafted lithium ion sieve is a reaction product of a lithium ion sieve and an organosilane. The lithium ion sieve is either a delithiated orthosilicate or a delithiated metal oxide. The organosilane reagent is of the general formula: R.sup.1—(CH.sub.2).sub.n—Si—R.sup.4.sub.3 where R.sup.1 is an organic moiety containing a functional group selected from an acrylate, methacrylate or vinyl group or their derivatives, R.sup.4 is either a hydrolysable alkoxy group or a methyl group, where at least one of the three R.sup.4 groups is a hydrolysable alkoxy group and n is 1-3. This lithium ion sorbent is durable and useful for adsorbing lithium from aqueous resources. The lithium ion sorbent can also be used in the manufacture of a composite material where the organosilane-grafted lithium ion sieve is covalently incorporated into a porous crosslinked polymeric support scaffold.
