Packing Element Placed Inside a Chamber to Promote Contact Between Circulating Fluids
The invention relates to a lining (10) intended to be positioned inside a chamber (1) to promote contact between fluids circulating inside said chamber, said lining comprising a plurality of separate criss-crossing strips (12): —first strips (12.1i) parallel to a first direction (D1) and defining a plurality of first planes spaced apart from each other, —second strips (12.2i) parallel to a second direction (D2) forming an angle with the first direction (D1) and defining a plurality of second planes spaced apart from each other. In each first plane, a free space separates two first adjacent strips I a direction perpendicular to the first direction and receives a second strip, the first and second strips being secured together. Each separate strip of at least one stage is perforated (12) and selected from a strip made from a stamped metal sheet and a strip made from an expanded metal sheet.
A REACTOR FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF UREA
A reactor for the synthesis of urea comprising a vertical shell and perforated baffles or trays (3) arranged to define compartments of the reactor, wherein each baffle comprises an array of individual perforated tiles (10) wherein each tile (101) comprises side walls (101A-101D) and a top face (101F), the side walls having first perforations for the liquid and said top face having second perforations for the gas, wherein said second perforations are smaller than said first perforations, and the tiles are distributed over the baffle with a two-dimensional pattern where adjacent tiles are separated by gaps (17).
STRUCTURED PACKING AND CROSSFLOW CONTACTOR EMPLOYING SAME
A structured packing module for crossflow applications is provided and includes a plurality of corrugated structured packing sheets positioned in an upright, parallel relationship to each other. The corrugations of adjacent structured packing sheets are in contact with each other and extend at a crossing angle. Apertures and raised ridges may be positioned on sidewalls of the corrugations. The structured packing module may be used in a crossflow contactor, such as in a process for removing carbon dioxide from air.
EXPANDABLE CENTER ARRANGEMENT
An expandable center arrangement for a reactor is disclosed. The arrangement comprises an expansion tube; a center support inside the expansion tube and three or more spring elements. The spring elements are fastened to the center support and arc out to the expansion tube. A reactor is also disclosed.
CONTACT DEVICE FOR HEAT/MASS EXCHANGE AND PHASE SEPARATION
The invention relates to packed contact devices used in heat/mass exchange column apparatuses in which the processes of rectification, distillation, absorption, and extraction are run, and can be applied in the oil refining, petrochemical, chemical, gas-processing, and food-manufacturing industries. A contact device for carrying out heat/mass exchange and separation of phases in sectional cross-flow packed columns in gas/liquid and liquid/liquid systems comprises a plurality of identical contact elements assembled one upon another in one or more rows in blocks held together by spokes and vertical posts, with formation of walls in the column body that are restricted on horizontal end faces by horizontal segmental baffles conjugated in an arc with the column body; thereat, arranged between the walls are liquid distributors having a perforated part, an additional baffle, deflector plates, and vertical support plates. The space between the lower and upper walls is sealed by means of battens.
Structured packing module for use in a mass transfer column and method of assembly
A structured packing module for use in a mass transfer column. Corrugated sheets of structured packing in the structured packing module are held together by fasteners that extend into the corrugated sheets from opposite sides of the structured packing module at an angle of inclination or perpendicularly with respect to the sides of the structured packing module. The fasteners may have an outer surface with protrusions or indentations that resist removal of the fasteners from the structured packing sheets.
Reformer tube having a structured catalyst and improved heat balance
A reformer tube for producing synthesis gas by steam reforming of hydrocarbon-containing feed gases, in which a structured stream reforming catalyst is used, is proposed. According to the invention, a heat exchanger tube is arranged in the interior of the structured catalyst, with the feed gas stream flowing firstly through the structured catalyst and subsequently in countercurrent through the heat exchanger tube. This improves the heat exchange between the synthesis gas product stream and the structured catalyst and the feed gas stream flowing through it, especially in the radial direction.
MATRIX INTEGRATING AT LEAST ONE HEAT EXCHANGE FUNCTION AND ONE DISTILLATION FUNCTION
A matrix, configured to form at least part of a material-transfer separation unit, the matrix having a stack of several plates arranged parallel to one another in a direction known as the direction of stacking, thereby defining passages, the matrix having a length, a width and a thickness, the length of a matrix being the greatest dimension of the parallel plates, the width of the matrix being measured perpendicular to the length, and the thickness of the matrix being measured in the direction of stacking of the plates.
Three dimensional structured packing for improving the contact between a gas phase and a dispersed solid phase following in counter-current
The present invention describes a packing with a three-dimensional structure which is particularly suited to creating homogenous and anisotropic mixing between the gas phase and a dispersed solid phase moving in counter-current flow. Application of this packing to the stripper of fluidized catalytic cracking units.
PACKING SECTION FOR A GAS/LIQUID SEPARATION COLUMN
A packing section intended to be installed in a casing so as to form a gas/liquid separation column comprises a block for treating a fluid that has a generally cylindrical shape extending along a longitudinal direction, the treatment block being formed by a stack of plates for treating the fluid along the longitudinal direction, the treatment block having a first disc-shaped face and a second disc-shaped face that each extend in planes parallel to one another, the treatment block having an external face extending over the perimeter of said treatment block between the first disc-shaped face and the second disc-shaped face, the packing section having at least one element for holding the treatment block that extends at least partially around the external face of the treatment block, the holding element having a portion for holding the treatment plates of the treatment block in position.
