A processing system and method of producing a particulate material are provided. The processing system includes a system inlet connected to one or more gas lines to deliver one or more gases into the processing system, a buffer chamber, a dispersion chamber, a heating assembly, a reaction chamber and a system outlet for delivering particulate material out of the processing system. The method includes delivering one or more gases via a system inlet into a buffer chamber of a processing system, jetting a liquid mixture into one or more streams of droplets using one or more power jet modules into the processing system, delivering flows of one or more heated gases via a heating assembly, forming a reaction mixture and processing the reaction mixture at a reaction temperature into a product material inside the reaction chamber.

The weir quench incorporates an inlet having an inner diameter (Di) and an upper chamber having an inner diameter (Duc), wherein the inlet inner diameter (Di) is at least 90% of the upper chamber inner diameter (Duc). The apparatus constitutes a reactor having an outlet with an inner diameter fluidly coupled with the weir quench inlet, wherein the ratio of the reactor oulet inner diameter (Dr) to the weir quench inlet diameter (Di) is greater than one. The weir quench, and apparatus are advantageously utilized in processes utilizing a limiting reagent.

The wall encloses an unobstructed gaseous flow passageway. At least a portion of the wall has CPOX catalyst disposed therein and/or comprising its structure. The catalyst-containing wall structure and open gaseous flow passageway enclosed thereby define a gaseous phase CPOX reaction zone, the catalyst-containing wall section being gas-permeable to allow gaseous CPOX reaction mixture to diffuse therein and hydrogen rich product reformate to diffuse therefrom. The liquid fuel CPOX reformer also can include a vaporizer, one or more igniters, and a source of liquid reformable fuel. The hydrogen-rich reformate can be converted to electricity within a fuel cell unit integrated with the CPOX reactor unit.

METHOD AND REACTOR FOR PRODUCING ONE OR MORE PRODUCTS

A feedstock gas, such as natural gas, is introduced into a mixing chamber. A combustible gas is introduced into a combustion chamber, for example simultaneously to the introduction of the feedstock gas. Thereafter, the combustible gas is ignited so as to cause the combustible gas to flow into the mixing chamber via one or more fluid flow paths between the combustion chamber and the mixing chamber, and to mix with the feedstock gas. The mixing of the combustible gas with the feedstock gas causes one or more products to be produced.

A device for processing a flow of particulate material by contact with a gas flow includes a housing defining a processing chamber. This chamber includes a gas distribution plate having openings. The gas distribution plate separates a lower gas plenum from a solid-gas contact zone. The contact zone has at least one cylindrical partition upstanding from the gas distribution plate dividing an inner section from an adjacent annular outer section. The at least one partition is provided with a transfer opening for the particulate material. The housing is also provided with an inlet for supplying particulate material to the inner section and an outlet for discharging processed particulate material from the annular outer section.
