Microfluidic device and a method of loading fluid therein
A microfluidic device comprises upper and lower spaced apart substrates defining a fluid chamber therebetween; an aperture for introducing fluid into the fluid chamber; and a fluid input structure disposed over the upper substrate and having a fluid well for receiving fluid from a fluid applicator inserted into the fluid well. The fluid well communicates with a fluid exit provided in a base of the fluid input structure, the fluid exit being adjacent the aperture. The fluid well comprises first, second and third portions, with the first portion of the well forming a reservoir for a filler fluid; and the second portion of the well being configured to sealingly engage against an outer surface of a fluid applicator inserted into the fluid well. The third portion of the well communicates with the fluid exit and has a diameter at the interface between the third portion and the second portion that is greater than the diameter of the second portion at the interface between the third portion and the second portion.
PIPETTE FOR USE WITH A PIPETTE TIP
A pipette for use with a pipette tip includes a chassis. An apparatus is coupled to the chassis and is configured to detachably hold at least one pipette tip. A drive apparatus is coupled to the chassis and is configured to displace a displacement element to suck liquid specimens into the pipette tip and eject the specimens from the pipette tip. A tubular pipette housing is configured to surround and connect to the chassis. The longitudinal direction of the chassis is aligned in the longitudinal direction of the pipette housing. The chassis includes multiple chassis elements which are arranged behind one another and are connected to one another. The apparatus for detachably holding at least one pipette tip and the drive apparatus are connected to one or more of the multiple chassis elements.
Pipette for use with a pipette tip
A pipette for use with a pipette tip includes a housing, a pin on the bottom end of the housing holding a pipette tip having first means for form-fit connection and a second means for form-fit connection which can be shoved onto the pin, constricting the pin, and/or expanding the tip before form-fit connection with the pin, a drive apparatus, at least one locking sleeve arranged concentric to the pin which is guided toward the pin in the housing, wherein the locking sleeve has a locked position having a pin in the inside constricted by shoving on a pipette tip, and/or is bordered on the outside by a tip shoved onto the pin, preventing a release from the pin, and the locking sleeve is upwardly displaceable out of the locked position so that the pin, and/or the tip is released, and the tip is removable from the pin.
Pipetting apparatus, a liquid handling system and a method of controlling pipetting
A pipetting apparatus having a pipette tube with a first end provided with an opening for aspirating and/or dispensing of a sample fluid and a second end operationally connected to a pressure generating means. The pipetting apparatus has at least one measuring unit adapted to determine at least one measurement value of the sample fluid based on the aspirating and/or dispensing of the sample fluid and to provide a sample fluid measurement signal representative thereof to an output of the measuring unit. The pipetting apparatus also has a control circuit operationally coupled to the output of the measuring unit and the input of the pressure generating means, the control circuit is configured to control said pressure generating device based on the sample fluid measurement signal.
Pipette tip adapter
An adapter for connecting an array of pipette tips having through bores with conical upper ends to a multichannel air displacement pipettor having a plurality of ports with compliant internal sealing surfaces. The adapter comprises a planar base with an array of openings extending between its top and bottom surfaces. Sealing tubes project upwardly from the top surface, and tip mounting tubes project downwardly from the bottom surface, with pairs of sealing tubes and tip mounting tubes being arranged coaxially and in communication with respective ones of the openings in the base. The tip mounting tubes are externally dimensioned and configured for insertion into the conical upper ends of the pipette tips, and the sealing tubes are externally configured and dimensioned for insertion into the ports of the pipettor and into sealing interengagement with their compliant internal sealing surfaces.
Automated pipetting apparatus having a combined liquid pump and pipette head system
The technology described herein generally relates to systems for extracting polynucleotides from multiple samples, particularly from biological samples, and additionally to systems that subsequently amplify and detect the extracted polynucleotides. The technology more particularly relates to microfluidic systems that carry out PCR on multiple samples of nucleotides of interest within microfluidic channels, and detect those nucleotides. The technology still more particularly relates to automated devices for carrying out pipetting operations, particularly on samples in parallel, consistent with sample preparation and delivery of PCR-ready nucleotide extracts to a cartridge wherein PCR is run.
Child resistant bottle closure system
The present application provides a child-resistant liquid dispensing closure apparatus, which includes a plunger and pipet, and preferably a dosage measuring system that is integrated that appears as the plunger is withdrawn from the pipet. The closure may be used for a bottle containing a liquid for oral administration of solutions, syrups, suspensions, elixirs, tinctures, concentrates, and the like.
PIPETTE TIP FAMILY COMPRISING PIPETTE TIPS FOR USE WITH PIPETTES OF A PIPETTE FAMILY AND PIPETTE FAMILY COMPRISING PIPETTES FOR USE WITH PIPETTE TIPS OF A PIPETTE TIP FAMILY
A pipette tip family includes a plurality of pipette tips each including a tip cylinder, each of the plurality of pipette tips further includes a hollow body including a bottom end and a top end such that the bottom end defines a tip opening and the top end defines a mounting opening, a seating region is configured to clamp to the spigot and a cylindrical plunger travel path is defined between the tip opening and the seating region, a tip plunger includes a plunger guided along the plunger travel path and a plunger rod comprising a top end, the plurality of pipette tips of each subfamily are configured to be used for pipetting with pipettes of a pipette type matched thereto and are not configured to be used with pipettes of a pipette type not matched thereto.
Modified Dropper Device and Method for Accurate Dosing
A method and apparatus for controlling and visually, audibly, and tactilely communicating the administration of discrete unit doses of material dispensed from a dropper through use of a modified plunger having a geometric profile corresponding to a unit dose. This profile engages with the dropper interior in a manner that creates audio, visual, and tactile cues as each unit dose is administered. The profile may take the form of peaks and valleys or teeth. Alternatively, the plunger profile may be threaded and may include a channel along the plunger's longitudinal axis.
