METHOD OF PAINTING A VEHICLE BRAKE COMPONENT USING A SEALING PLUG
A system and method for painting a component (3) of a vehicle brake (1) includes a sealing plug (7) inserted into a recess (5), the recess extending in the direction of a longitudinal axis (L) and which has an inner face (9) which is intended to be kept free from paint. The method include providing the component (3) and introducing a sealing plug (7) into the recess (5) of the component. The sealing plug (7) has at least one sealing face (11a-11h) and the sealing face (11a-11h) is disposed inside the recess (5). The sealing face is moved into sealing abutment with the inner face (9) in a radial direction. The method includes painting the component (3) after the sealing plug (7) has been introduced. The sealing plug blocks paint from being deposited on the inner face.
ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED OBJECT USING MASK OVER OPENING FOR COATING
An additively manufactured (AM) object may include a body including an opening in an exterior surface thereof, the opening having a shape and a first area at the exterior surface of the body. A mask may be positioned over the opening. The mask has the shape of the opening and a second area that is larger than the first area so as to overhang the exterior surface of the body about the opening. A plurality of support ligaments couple to the mask and the exterior surface of the body at a location adjacent to the opening to support a portion of the mask. A coating can be applied to the object, and the mask removed. The final AM object includes a plurality of ligament elements extending from the exterior surface of the body and through the coating adjacent the opening, each ligament element at least partially surrounded by the coating.

COVERING ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING A PAINT-SENSITIVE AREA
A covering element is adapted to protect a paint-sensitive area wherein at least one opening is defined. The element includes a central stem having a distal portion intended to go through the opening, and a cap peripherally extending from a proximal portion of the central stem, for covering the area.
MASKING PLUG FOR COLD SPRAY REPAIR AT COUNTERBORE HOLE
A method of improving a structure of a component adjacent a feature is provided including removing a portion of the structure including at least one area where damage of corrosion has occurred or is likely to occur to expose a surface of the structure. A masking plug is installed into the feature such that a base of the masking plug is coupled to a first portion of the feature and a head of the masking plug is arranged adjacent a second portion of the feature. A structural deposit is formed on the surface and is integral with the structure. Excess material of the structural deposit and a portion of the head of the masking plug is removed. The second portion of the feature is reformed and the masking plug is removed from the feature.
Apparatus for applying a hot-melt adhesive to a substrate
The invention relates to applying a liquid to pasty hot-melt adhesive to a substrate (44), comprising a template (29), having at least one cavity (38) for the hot-melt adhesive, and also comprising an adhesive-transfer infeed (33), which is assigned to the template (29) and through which the adhesive can be introduced into the cavity (38). The special feature consists in that the apparatus (10) further comprises a transporting-fluid-supply opening (35), assigned to the template (29), and a device for displacing (13, 15), in particular pivoting, the template (29) between a first position, in which the cavity (38) is assigned to the adhesive-transfer infeed (33), and a second position, in which the cavity (38) is assigned to the transporting-fluid-supply opening (35), and therefore the adhesive, in the second position, can be discharged from the cavity (38) by a transporting fluid flowing through the transporting-fluid-supply opening (35).
ELECTRICAL COVER
The electrical cover is a flexible, friction-held electrical cover that guards outlets from finish materials such as paint, spackling, and other foreign materials. The frictionally-held finish material electrical covers utilize specifically shaped features on the surfaces, such as negative draft, that contact the electrical components to increase the hold on the electrical device. Some of the shaped features of the frictionally-held covers also help minimize stress in the cover. The electrical covers are shaped with an arched rear surface that assists in minimizing edge warping when the electrical cover is positioned against the wall surface. Features are also molded into the parts to assist and strengthen the cover flatness once installed, and thus protect against the intrusion of finish material behind the cover.
Masking strip
A masking strip for masking the interior surfaces of a gap between two substrates to be painted is provided, the strip comprising: a backing having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface having an adhesive region to fix the masking strip to an interior surface of the gap; a gap filler extending from the backing and adapted to prevent paint flow into the gap; wherein the first surface of the backing is also provided with a spacing means adapted to space the backing of the masking strip away from the interior surface of the gap to which the strip is fixed, and wherein the masking strip is pre-formed.
