A spraying device for producing a spray of particles in a carrier gas at ambient pressure, includes a storage volume for a liquid substance; at least one nozzle having an inlet and an outlet, the nozzle inlet fluidly communicating with the storage volume; a counter electrode; an electric supply coupled between the at least one nozzle and counter electrode for providing a first potential and create a first electric field between the nozzle outlet and the counter electrode. The device further includes at least one discharge electrode coupled to the electric supply for providing a second potential between the discharge electrode and the counter electrode, the polarity of the second potential being opposite to the polarity of the first potential. The at least one nozzle and the at least one discharge electrode are arranged adjacent and parallel to each other and facing the counter electrode from a substantially same direction.

ELECTROSTATIC SPRAY NOZZLE INCLUDING INDUCTION RING

An electrostatic spray nozzle assembly is described that includes an induction ring and a fluid tip. The induction ring generates an electrical field for inducing an electrical charge on droplets of a feedstock liquid from the fluid tip that pass through an opening of the induction ring. The induction ring is electrically coupled to an electrical induction field source via a first conductive path provided by conductive surfaces of: a nozzle head holding the induction ring, and a purge gas tube holding the nozzle head. Feedstock flowing through the fluid tip is electrically coupled to a charge carrier source via a second conductive path provided by at least a conductive surface of a fluid tube coupled to the fluid tip. The first conductive path and the second conductive path are electrically isolated by an insulating barrier.

A method of generating a mixed aerosol by the aerosol-generating device is also provided.

The present invention provides an electrostatic spraying device and an electrostatic spraying method. The electrostatic spraying device includes: a high-voltage electrostatic generator configured for generating high-voltage static electricity and including a positive output terminal and a negative output terminal; a charging electrode connected to the positive output terminal or the negative output terminal of the high-voltage electrostatic generator and configured for directly contacting a liquid to be sprayed and applying electrostatic charges to the liquid to be sprayed; and an ionizing emitting electrode connected to the negative output terminal or the positive output terminal of the high-voltage electrostatic generator and configured for ionizing the surrounding air to realize an ionizing grounding.

The discharge device forms a discharge path having at least partial dielectric breakdown between the discharge electrode and the protruding electrode, when the discharge occurs. The discharge path includes a first dielectric breakdown region generated around the discharge electrode and a second dielectric breakdown region generated around the protruding electrode.

An electrostatic atomizing apparatus includes: a liquid nozzle portion for releasing a liquid column into an open space; a liquid conduit portion for introducing pressurized liquid into the liquid nozzle portion; a liquid-side electrode disposed inside the liquid conduit portion for coming into contact with the pressurized liquid; a gas conduit portion made of an insulation material and having a gas nozzle portion disposed around the liquid nozzle portion for converting the liquid column into fine particles to generate an atomized stream by making a gas stream from the gas nozzle portion act at an atomization point of the liquid column released into the open space from the liquid nozzle portion; and a ring-shaped induction electrode disposed around the atomization point located in the open space and having an electrode conductor made of a conductive material and coated with an insulation material.

VOLTAGE APPLICATION DEVICE AND DISCHARGE DEVICE

A voltage application device includes a voltage application circuit. The voltage application circuit applies application voltage between discharge electrode and counter electrode which face each other with a clearance left from each other to generate a discharge. The voltage application device forms discharge path partially and dielectrically broken between discharge electrode and counter electrode when a discharge is generated. Discharge path includes first dielectric breakdown region formed around discharge electrode, and second dielectric breakdown region formed around counter electrode.
