Dense phase pump with easily replaceable components

A dense phase pump has two housings that are attached together using a single releasable fastener. The fastener can be released to allow the two housings to be separated thereby providing access to replaceable components. The replaceable components may include one or more pinch valves or one or more barrier elements. A pinch valve for a dense phase pump has a shape or profile for aligning the pinch valve when the pinch valve is installed in a pinch valve body. The pinch valve optionally has two end flanges, with each end flange having a shaped periphery. The two end flanges may have the same size and shape so that the pinch valve can be installed in either of two orientations that are inverse. A dense phase pump has a pump chamber that can be purged by purge gas that enters the pump off-axis from a purge path axis.

The present invention concerns a pump for high-density powder transfer. The pump for high-density powder transportation according to the present invention has four-stroke operation, in which four pumping chambers in reality constitute a system of two pairs of chambers in line with each other. This makes it possible to divide the overall flow rate per minute over four tanks. Each of the four tanks has a reduced capacity, to the benefit of the compactness of the pump and the reduction of the loading/emptying times of the single tank, by exploiting the fluid-dynamic principle of communicating vessels the system of pairs of chambers in line increases the overall powder storage volume, thanks to a constant depression.

The at least one powder container has at least one suction channel which is preferably formed in a suction pipe and which has a suction opening that opens into the interior of the powder container and an opposite discharge opening that opens into a connection, wherein the suction side of the at least one powder pump can be fluidically connected to the connection of the powder container.

The invention relates to a dense-phase powder pump for conveying coating powder from a first powder reservoir to a second downstream powder reservoir or to a downstream powder spray-coating gun or similar device for spraying coating powder. The dense-phase powder pump has at least one powder conveying chamber, which is/can be fluidically connected to the first powder reservoir via a powder inlet, and to the second powder reservoir or to the powder spray-coating gun or similar device for spraying coating powder via a powder outlet. At least one powder inlet valve is provided at the powder inlet and at least one powder outlet valve is provided at the powder outlet. According to the invention, in order to make the dense-phase powder pump less prone to require maintenance during operation and, in particular, to constantly guarantee a continuous and uniform conveying of the powder, regardless of the type of powder, the at least one powder inlet valve and/or the at least one powder outlet valve has/have an effective flow cross-section in the respective open state, which corresponds to at least 35% of the effective flow cross-section of the at least one powder conveying chamber.

A powder feeding device, in particular for coating powder, is disclosed. The powder feeding device includes a dense phase powder pump which has at least one conveying chamber with a powder inlet valve and a powder outlet valve. Furthermore, a control device is provided for selectively operating the dense phase powder pump in a powder conveying more or a flushing operating mode. The powder inlet valve and the powder outlet valve of the dense phase powder pump are configured in each case as a pneumatically actuable compression valve which can be closed when an actuating pressure is applied. The control device is configured to set the pressure value of the actuating pressure which is selected for closing the powder inlet valve and/or powder outlet valve depending on the respective operating mode of the dense phase powder pump and/or depending on a pressure which prevails in the conveying chamber.

A powder conveyor has a pneumatically actuated dense phase powder pump and a pressure controller. The dense phase powder pump comprises at least one conveyor chamber having a powder inlet valve and a powder outlet valve. The pressure controller can be used to adjust and maintain a set pressure on the at least one conveyor chamber of the dense phase powder pump that is or can be previously defined and/or to adjust and maintain an actuation pressure on the powder inlet valve or the powder outlet valve that is or can be previously defined. The powder conveyor further comprises a gas flow detection device for detecting or determining a quantity of gas that is fed or removed per time unit when the set pressure is adjusted and maintained on the at least one conveyor chamber or a quantity of gas that is fed to the powder inlet valve or the powder outlet valve per time unit when the actuation pressure is adjusted and maintained. An evaluation device compares at least one detected or determined gas flow value with a corresponding set value and automatically generates an error and/or alarm signal when a deviation is detected.

The invention provides a powder conveying device including: a pump body (1), a powder sucking plunger (4), a powder suction conduit (2), a powder discharge conduit (3), a powder suction valve (5), and a powder discharge valve (6), wherein the pump body (1) comprising a transfer chamber (13) that is configured with a powder inlet (11) connected to the powder suction conduit (2) and a powder outlet (12) connected the powder discharge conduit (3); and a powder sucking plunger (4) configured in the upper part of the transfer chamber (13) and movable up and down inside the transfer chamber (13). When the powder sucking plunger (4) moves upward, the powder suction conduit (2) is opened by the powder suction valve (5) and the powder discharge conduit (3) is closed by the powder discharge valve (6) so that the powder is sucked into the transfer chamber (13) through the powder suction conduit (2). When the powder sucking plunger (4) moves downward, the powder suction conduit (2) is closed by the powder suction valve (5) and the powder discharge conduit (3) is opened by the powder discharge valve (6) so that the powder is discharged from the transfer chamber (13) through the powder discharge conduit (3). The powder inlet (11) is configured in the inner sidewall (130) of the transfer chamber (13), and the powder inlet (11) is above the powder outlet (12). Therefore the powder outflow is much smoother. Further, the quantity and stability of the powder feeding is improved.
