Coating apparatus with donor surface, application device, and surplus extraction system
An apparatus is disclosed for coating a surface that is movable relative to the apparatus with a layer of metallic particles or particles having a metal-like appearance and reflectivity, the particles adhering more strongly to the surface than to one another. The apparatus comprises at least one spray head for directly or indirectly applying to the surface a fluid stream within which the particles are suspended, a housing surrounding the spray head(s) and defining an interior plenum for confining the fluid stream, the housing having a rim adjacent the surface that is configured to prevent egress of particles from a sealing gap defined between the rim of the housing and the surface to be coated, and a suction source connected to the housing to extract from the plenum the sprayed fluid and particles suspended in the sprayed fluid. In operation, the suction source extracts substantially all particles that are not in direct contact with the surface, so as to leave only a substantially single particle layer adhering to the surface on exiting the apparatus.

A system may include: a coating form roller; a metering roller adjacent to the coating form roller; and a sealing chamber. The sealing chamber may include first and second blades that engage with the coating form roller and the metering roller, respectively.
System for lacquer transfer
A system for lacquer transfer is disclose having a device for lacquer transfer. The device includes a frame, a transfer roller with a circumferential lateral wall, and a slit nozzle for dispensing lacquer. The slit nozzle is connected to the frame. An outside contact surface of the lateral wall includes several depressions. The transfer roller is mounted rotatably to the frame. The slit nozzle is arranged contactless to or in direct contact with the outside contact surface of the lateral wall for dispensing lacquer into respective depressions in the lateral wall while the transfer roller is rotated. The transfer roller is configured to roll with the outside contact surface on a work surface of a work piece for transferring the lacquer from the depressions to the work surface.
System and device for a lacquer transfer
A device is disclosed including a frame, a transfer roller with a circumferential lateral wall, a drive unit, a slit nozzle with a muzzle end for dispensing lacquer, and a deformation unit. The slit nozzle and the deformation unit are each connected to the frame, and an outside contact surface of the lateral wall includes several depressions, the transfer roller is mounted rotatably about an axis of rotation at the frame. The drive unit is configured to drive the transfer roller in a rotation direction of the transfer roller, such that the lateral wall continuously passes through a first angular range and the second angular range, each fixed to the frame. The deformation unit is arranged to elastically deform the lateral wall resulting in a respective first deformation section of the lateral wall passing through the first angular range and a respective second deformation section of the lateral wall passing through the second angular range.

A glue applying mechanism of an edge banding machine for applying glue to an oblique surface and a vertical surface of a workpiece includes a base including a glue tub, and a glue applying unit rotatably disposed on the glue tub and including a glue shaft and an obliquely glue applying member connected to the top end of the glue shaft and having a glue applying surface which is a tapered surface with a wide top and a narrow bottom. At least the partial top of the glue shaft and the glue applying surface are exposed outside the glue tub. The glue applying unit is rotatable to extract the glue in the glue tub to the outer surface of the glue shaft and the glue applying surface, enabling the glue to be applied to the oblique and vertical surfaces of the workpiece simultaneously by only one glue applying mechanism.
Device for lacquer transfer
A device for lacquer transfer is disclosed having a frame, a nozzle with a dispensing end for dispensing lacquer, and a transfer roller with a circumferential lateral wall, a circumferential outer contact surface of the lateral wall comprises several depressions, wherein the nozzle and the transfer roller are arranged such that lacquer is dispensable from the dispensing end onto the outer contact surface and into the depressions, wherein the transfer roller is configured to roll with the outer contact surface on a work surface of a workpiece for transferring the lacquer from the outer contact surface and from the depressions to the work surface of the workpiece. A first hardening unit is formed as a UV-light unit configured for partially hardening the lacquer in a contactless way by emitting UV-light, the first hardening unit is arranged within an interior space defined by the transfer roller. The lateral wall of the transfer roller is transparent for UV-light, and the first hardening unit is arranged such that UV-light is emittable towards the work surface in a first operational area of the work surface to partially harden the lacquer in the first operational area.
Device for lacquer transfer
A device and method for lacquer transfer includes a lacquer application unit and at least one of a masking application unit and a masking removal unit, the application unit for applying lacquer to a work surface, wherein the masking application unit is configured to apply a masking to the work surface and is attached to the lacquer application unit so the masking application unit is moved in the application direction ahead of the lacquer application unit across the work surface when the lacquer application unit is moved across the work surface in the application direction. The masking removal unit can remove a previously applied masking from the work surface and is attached to the lacquer application unit such that the masking removal unit is moved in the application direction behind the lacquer application unit across the work surface when the lacquer application unit is moved across the work surface in the application direction.
COATING DEVICE
A coating device includes a roll that conveys a material to be coated or onto which a coating material is applied, and a coater used to apply a coating material onto the material to be coated or onto the roll. At least a portion of the roll to be in contact with a material to be coated or at least a portion of the roll onto which a coating material is applied is formed of a low expansion material that has a linear expansion coefficient in the range from 0 [1/K] to 6.0×10.sup.−6 [1/K] inclusive.
Dual pressure sensitive adhesive sheet for instore signage
A tandem system of metering and donor rolls is used to apply two different adhesives to a fully adhesive backed multilayer sheet to produce variably distributed adhesives and properties. Each of the two adhesives is unique and is cured differently to create a layer of adhesive that has differing adhesive properties on the sheet. A clear adhesive is applied to a top portion of cards before they are cut from the sheet and has a higher tackiness than the adhesive applied to the rest of the cards on the sheet in order to reduce glue buildup on blades cutting the cards from the sheet.
