A double-sided coating device includes: a conveying mechanism for a base material that includes a first surface and a second surface; a first die that applies a first coating material onto the first surface; and a second die that applies a second coating material onto the second surface. The conveying mechanism includes: a roll that conveys the base material, in which the position at which the base material separates from the circumferential surface is higher than a target coating height of the base material; and a drawing section that draws the base material such as to bring the base material closer to the target coating height.

A double-sided coating device includes: a conveying mechanism for a base material that includes a first surface and a second surface; a first die that applies a first coating material onto the first surface; and a second die that applies a second coating material onto the second surface. A powder-rubbing apparatus comprises: a rotatable rubbing roll having a rotational axis; a substrate path; an oscillating mechanism for oscillating the rotatable rubbing roll along the rotational axis; and a powder coating die comprising an inlet port in fluid communication with an outlet port disposed adjacent to the substrate path. The substrate frictionally contacts the rotatable rubbing roll within a rubbing zone. A dispenser for dispensing gas-borne powder is in fluid communication with the inlet port of the powder coating die. The dispenser is aligned such that at least a portion of a gas-borne powder dispensed from the powder coating die is deposited directly onto at least one of the rotatable rubbing roll or the substrate and conveyed into the rubbing zone. A method of using the powder-rubbing apparatus and a powder-rubbed web preparable thereby are also disclosed.

The apparatus for producing a functional film includes a coating device which has a backup roller and a die coater and applies a coating solution having a dissolved oxygen concentration of 1000 ppm or less and including 10000 ppm or less of an organic solvent to a flexible support transported in a state where the support is wound around the backup roller to form a coated film, a lamination device which laminates a coated surface of the coated film and the film on the backup roller, and an inert gas atmosphere forming device which forms an inert gas atmosphere in a space including the coated surface from a coating start position to a lamination start position on the backup roller.
