Doctor blade, doctor blade chamber, and printing unit equipped therewith
A doctor blade, intended for a doctor blade chamber (6) for a flexography printing unit (1) equipped with a screened cylinder (4), presents in the form of a rectangular blade, with a functional longitudinal side (34) of which a longitudinal edge is capable of making contact with the screened cylinder (4), a longitudinal fastening side (33) and two lateral sides (36, 37). The doctor blade comprises at least one opening located towards the functional longitudinal side (34) and towards the first of the two lateral sides (36, 37).
Method and apparatus for coating on baggy web
Methods and apparatuses for applying coatings on a baggy web are provided. A Mayer rod and a back-up roll engage with each other to form a nip. The back-up roll has a deformable inner layer with a surface thereof covered by a deformable outer layer. The Mayer rod and the flexible web at a contacting area are impressed into the back-up roll with a machine-direction nip width W and a nip engagement depth D, which enables formation of a coating having a substantially uniform thickness.
Device for applying a free-flowing medium to a web
A device for applying a free-flowing medium to a continuously conveyed web, wherein the medium can be transferred to the web by a continuously rotating transfer (gravure) roll. An application head is provided in order to transfer the free-flowing medium to the circumference of the gravure roll. The application head includes a chamber which is open toward the circumference of the gravure roll and has an inlet and an outlet for the medium to be applied. The front outer face, in the direction of rotation, of the chamber is delimited by a front doctor blade and the rear outer face, in the direction of rotation, is delimited by a rear doctor blade. Both doctor blades are seated against the circumference of the gravure roll. The front doctor blade can be pressed against the circumference of the gravure roll by a pressing body with an adjustable pressing force.
Rotary coater with coating element that substantially maintains speed during use, and device for the additive manufacture of an object using the rotary coater
The invention relates to a spin coater for a device for the additive manufacture of an object, having a support that can be connected to the device in a rotable manner about a rotational axis; and a coating element that is coupled to the support and that is suitable for applying or leveling a powder layer on a plane in the device while the support is rotating, the plane running perpendicularly to the rotational axis. The coating element substantially maintains its orientation during the rotational movement of the support within a specified rotational range. The coating element does not substantially move in a longitudinal direction of the coating element during the rotational movement of the support within a specified rotational range.
Applicator with interchangeable heads
An applicator for dispensing a viscous material from a container. The applicator comprises a nozzle for fluid communication with the container. The nozzle has an outlet at a first end and base in proximity to an opposed second end. The nozzle further includes a support arm spaced apart from the nozzle. The support arm and the nozzle collectively forming a slot therebetween for releasably receiving a blade. An attachment portion extend from the base and is configured to releasably engage the container to permit material within the container to flow under pressure through the nozzle and onto a surface. When the blade is received within the slot, it contacts the material as it exits the nozzle and assists in forming the material into a desired shape or configuration.
DOCTOR BLADE UNIT FOR AN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING SYSTEM HAVING A PULVEROUS STARTING MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a doctor blade unit for an additive manufacturing system having a pulverous starting material. By means of the doctor blade unit according to the invention, improved linearity of the doctor blade and parallelism with respect to the build plane are achieved. The doctor blade is suspended on a crossmember by means of adjustable fastening elements, and the crossmember in turn is fastened, on one side by means of a fixed bearing and on the other side by means of a floating bearing, to a guide support.
System and Method for Coating Substrates
A system for coating of a donor material onto a laser radiation transparent substrate, the system including a donor material applicator, applying donor material to the laser radiation transparent substrate, a multi-pass precise donor material thickness determiner for providing a desired thickness of the donor material on the laser radiation transparent substrate and including a linearly displaceable blade support, a layer thickness uniformizing blade lockably pivotably mounted onto the linearly displaceable blade support about a pivot axis, the blade having a straight edge and a blade position maintainer operative for maintaining the straight edge at a desired separation distance from the laser radiation transparent substrate, the separation distance being uniform along the straight edge of the layer thickness uniformizing blade.
DOCTOR BLADE WITH POLYMERIC RETENTION MEANS, DOCTOR BLADE HOLDER COMPRISING SUCH A DOCTOR BLADE AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING RETENTION MEANS ON A DOCTOR BLADE
A doctor blade is disclosed that includes a blade surface and at least one shaped feature that is formed of a polymeric material and is provided to assist in maintaining the doctor blade with a doctor blade holder.
