PRODUCTION METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR APPLYING FAUX WOOD GRAIN FINISH ON MATERIAL
A method and apparatus for applying a faux wood grain finish to plastic architectural plastic boards. The method employs a climate-controlled area for denibbing of boards to prepare a surface and a sprayer to achieve a desired depth of color. A wiper spreads the sprayed on material to form a faux grain finish which may include faux wood knots. The boards are directed through a combination infrared and convection oven having independent curing zones providing specific drying profiles. Once cured, the boards are cooled with forced air cool down fans and transferred into a climate-controlled area for applying a topcoat. The topcoat board is passed through an oven set to a defined temperature for curing and cooled down with forced air cool down fans before packaging and shipping.
Analytic substrate coating apparatus and method
An apparatus and method for producing a coated analytic substrate using a compact and portable automated instrument located in the laboratory setting at the point of use which can consistently produce one or a plurality of coated analytic substrates “on demand” for using the analytic substrate immediately after coating, preferably without a step of rinsing the coated analytic substrate before use. The apparatus preferably uses applicator cartridges having a reservoir containing the coating compositions used to form the coatings. Preferably the cartridges are removable and interchangeable to facilitate the production of individual analytic substrates having different coatings or different coating patterns. These coated analytic substrates have superior specimen adhesion characteristics due to the improved quality of the coatings applied by the coating apparatus and due to the quickness with which the coated analytic substrates can be used in the lab after production.

The method includes providing a substrate configured to receive application of a molten entrained polymer. A particulate entrained polymer in molten form is applied in a predetermined shape, to a surface of the substrate, to form a solidified entrained polymer structure on the substrate. The entrained polymer includes a monolithic material formed of at least abase polymer and a particulate active agent. The surface of the substrate is compatible with the molten entrained polymer so as to thermally bond with it. In this way, the entrained polymer bonds to the substrate and solidifies upon sufficient cooling of the entrained polymer.
SYSTEM AND PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING INTEGRATED ROOF SYSTEM WITH ENGINEERED WOOD
A method to manufacture, on one or more production or manufacturing lines, an integrated roofing product, such as a roofing panel or roofing plank. A blank panel of engineered wood is cut or sawn into a plurality of raw planks or raw panels, each with an outer face, an inner face, a top edge, and a bottom edge. Each raw plank or panel is then processed by cutting or routing a profile into the top edge, the bottom edge, or both; affixing a gasket seal to the profile in the top edge or the bottom edge, or both; coating at least some or all of the outer face with a silicone-based or silicone-containing coating; applying a mix of granules and/or sand to the silicone-based coating while wet; and curing the coated plank or panel. A plurality of panels or planks can then be installed on a roofing structure.

Methods for dispensing and adhering hot melt entrained polymers to substrates
Disclosed are methods for forming and adhering an entrained polymer structure to a substrate. The methods include providing a substrate (114) configured to receive application of a molten entrained polymer (118). A mineral entrained polymer in molten form is applied in a predetermined shape, to a surface of the substrate, to form a solidified entrained polymer structure on the substrate. The entrained polymer includes a monolithic material formed of at least a base polymer (25) and a mineral active agent (30) to absorb excess moisture. The surface of the substrate is compatible with the molten entrained polymer so as to thermally bond with it. In this way, the entrained polymer bonds to the substrate and solidifies upon sufficient cooling of the entrained polymer. The polymer can have a channeling or foaming agent (35), eg polyglycol. To apply the polymer is provided a hot melt dispensing apparatus comprising: a feeder (102) (optionally an extruder or loader) for providing a flow of mineral entrained polymer in molten form; one or more hoses (104), each of which having an internal lumen in fluid communication with an exit (106) of the feeder to receive flow of the mineral entrained polymer in molten form, the lumen terminating at an applicator (110) to which the entrained polymer in molten form is conveyed; the applicator comprising a dispenser (112) for applying the entrained polymer in the predetermined shape to the surface of the substrate. METHOD AND DEVICE FOR COATING A METAL STRIP
A method and a device for coating a metal strip with a coating material that is still liquid at first. During the coating, the coated metal strip runs through a roller pair. One of the rollers of the roller pair can be adjusted toward the other as a correction roller in order to eliminate a possible curvature of the metal strip. Then the metal strip runs through a blow-off apparatus for blowing off surplus coating. In order to prevent an uneven thickness distribution of the coating on the metal strip even when the correction roller of the roller pair has been adjusted, the actual position of the metal strip is controlled to a specified setpoint center position in the slot of the blow-off apparatus by an appropriate movement of the blow-off apparatus.
