UTILIZATION OF POLYUREA-BASED COATINGS IN ENHANCING STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF POLYETHYLENE (PE) / POLYPROPYLENE (PP) PIPES AND PIPE FITTINGS
The present invention is directed to a pipe or pipe fitting comprising a polyurea-based coating, wherein the pipe or pipe fitting is made from plastic, wherein the plastic is selected from polyolefins, preferably polyethylene (PE) and/or polypropylene (PP). The polyurea-based coating allows for enhanced mechanical strength and performance of the pipe or pipe fitting comprising the polyurea-based coating compared to a corresponding pipe or pipe fitting not comprising the polyurea-based coating, wherein the mechanical strength and performance relate to hydrostatic pressure resistance according to the Hydrostatic Pressure Test under ISO 1167 and/or resistance to failure according to the Notched Pipe Test under ISO 13479 and/or long-term hydrostatic strength according to ISO 9080:2012 standard. This makes the pipes suitable for high-pressure applications, for example in the Oil and Gas industry, in particular to use of plastic pipes of the present invention comprising a polyurea-based coating for conveying process fluids in both water and hydrocarbon environments.
UNSATURATED RESINS AND COATING COMPOSITIONS THEREFROM
The disclosure provides a resin having unsaturated functionality effective for self-cross linking in compositions that are at least substantially free of external cross linkers and still achieve desired performance for internal and/or external food or beverage can coating applications. Unsaturation may be provided by reactants having a carbon-carbon double bond less reactive than a carbon-carbon double bond of maleic anhydride.
CONTAINER WITH A COATING LAYER
Container (1) with a coating layer. The invention is in the field of containers for foods and drinks. There is provided a method for applying a coating layer (2, 4) on a preform (1, 2) for a container (1) using plasma deposition. There is also provided a preform (1, 2) for a container (1), as well as a container (1) obtainable by stretching of the preform (1, 2).
Medical devices
Described are medical devices including expandable tubular bodies configured to be implanted into a lumen, wherein the outer surface of the expandable tubular bodies are coupled to a polymer(s).
COATING DEVICE, COATING METHOD, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PHOTOCONDUCTOR
A coating device includes: a coating liquid holding part provided with an upper opening portion and a lower opening portion and holding a coating liquid that is supplied from a coating liquid supply part; and an annular body that is disposed inside the coating liquid holding part, through which a cylindrical body penetrating the upper opening portion and the lower opening portion of the coating liquid holding part penetrates, and in which the coating liquid held by the coating liquid holding part flows in from an upper side and flows out from a lower side with a relative movement to the cylindrical body, the annular body being installed to be relatively displaceable along an installation surface intersecting a direction of the relative movement with respect to the coating liquid holding part.
TAPERED MULTI-LAMINATED TUBULAR SLINGSHOT BAND
An improved slingshot band having a tapered outer contour. The slingshot band has a tubular body having a first fork end and a second pouch end. The tubular body comprises a first layer of an elastic polymer. The first layer has a constant thickness. The tubular body further comprises a second layer of an elastic polymer. The second layer has a greater thickness near the fork end of the tubular body and lower thickness near the pouch end of the tubular body. The increased thickness of the section of the tubular body near the fork end of the slingshot band reinforces the most vulnerable section of the slingshot band against failure, thereby extending its longevity.
MANUFACTURE OF AEROSOL CONTAINERS
A production line is for aerosol containers (AC) whose exterior surface is printed with inks in a predetermined pattern to form a desired design including both imagery and graphics. The line includes an inking station and a varnish application station through which aerosol containers successively pass. Inks are applied to containers at the inking station and a varnish to the inked exterior of the container at the varnish station. A LED light module (12) installed between the ink station and varnish station emits a light within a predetermined frequency range onto inked containers. The temperature produced by the LED light source is cooler than that of Uv light sources that could be used for the same purpose. The exterior surface of finished containers exhibit no lapping or discolorations and have improved scratch resistance.
Method for producing insulated pipes
Described herein is a process for producing insulated pipes including providing a media pipe and a film hose continuously formed from a film or a media pipe and a jacketing pipe, wherein the media pipe is arranged inside the film hose or the jacketing pipe and a slot is formed between the media pipe and the film hose or jacketing pipe, wherein an adhesion promoter is applied to the surface of the media pipe facing the film hose or the jacketing pipe, introducing a polyurethane system at least including an isocyanate component (a) including at least one isocyanate, a polyol component (b), and at least one catalyst into the slot before the adhesion promoter is fully cured, and foaming and curing the polyurethane system. Also described herein are insulated pipes obtainable or obtained by such a process.
Hydrophilic lubricating coating for medical catheters and its preparation method
The invention discloses a photocured medical catheter hydrophilic lubricating coating and a preparation method thereof. The hydrophilic lubricating coating comprises a primer coating and a lubricating coating. The primer coating is attached to the surface of a device, and the lubricating coating is attached to the primer coating. The primer coating comprises 1-10 parts by weight of one or more polyester acrylates, 50-90 parts by weight of one or more solvents, 0.5-5 parts by weight of one or more photoinitiators, 0.5-2 parts by weight of one or more wetting agents and 0.5-5 parts by weight of one or more reactive (or active) diluents. The lubricating coating comprises 1-10 parts by weight of one or more water soluble macromolecules, 1-5 parts by weight of one or more crosslinking (or crosslinked) macromolecules, 0-1 part by weight of one or more photoinitiators, 0.1-1 part by weight of one or more surfactants and 50-98 parts by weight of one or more solvents. The preparation method of the hydrophilic lubricating coating is simple and easy in operation. Substance residues caused by complicated high-temperature chemical reactions are avoided. The cured coating forms a crosslinking (or crosslinked) structure, has good adhesion on the surface of a medical catheter and has excellent and lasting lubricity in an aqueous medium. The friction coefficient of the surface of the medical catheter is reduced. Harm to human tissues and adhesion of macromolecules in blood are decreased.
Lateral applicator kit for a pipe
A lateral applicator kit for a pipe has a first and a second application unit that are configured to apply a primer material or other substance to the exterior and interior lateral walls of a pipe. The first unit receives primer through a first supply engagement feature, which is in fluid communication with a first material reservoir internal to the first application unit and further in fluid communication with an application receptacle configured to receive, and apply primer to, the exterior lateral surface of a pipe. The application receptacle has at least one first material applicator connected across at least one first application opening through which primer is absorbed and distributed to the pipe. The application receptacle has a tapered, flexible applicator wall for adaptably accommodating a range of pipe diameters. The second unit is similarly but inversely configured to adaptably apply primer to the interior surface of a fitting.
