MULTI-FUNCTIONAL LAYER FOR STOP ETCH IN LASER COATING REMOVAL
An aircraft skin coating assembly for an aircraft. The coating assembly includes a primer layer deposited on the aircraft skin, an optical stop-etch layer deposited on the primer layer that is reflective at a predetermined wavelength, a coating stack-up deposited on the optical etch-stop layer that provides performance features for the aircraft, and a sealant layer deposited on the stack-up. When a laser coating removal process employing a laser beam is used to remove the coating stack-up for replacement, the stop-etch layer reflects the laser beam to prevent it from penetrating and possibly damaging the aircraft skin.
METHOD FOR FORMING MULTI-LAYER COATING FILM
A method for forming a multilayer coating film, comprising the steps of applying a color paint (W) to a substrate to form a colored coating film; applying an effect pigment dispersion (X) to the colored coating film, wherein the effect pigment dispersion (X) contains an effect pigment (x2), and the content of the effect pigment (x2) in the effect pigment dispersion (X) is within a range of 15 to 80 parts by mass, based on 100 parts by mass of the total solids content in the effect pigment dispersion (X), to form an effect first base coating film; applying a transparent colored second base paint (Y) containing a color pigment (y2) to form a transparent colored second base coating film; and applying a clear paint (Z) to form a clear coating film, wherein the clear paint (Z) contains a hydroxy-containing acrylic resin (z1) and an aliphatic triisocyanate compound (z2-1) having a molecular weight within a range of 200 to 350.
Process for the preparation of metallic nano-particle layers and their use for decorative or security elements
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of thin silver nano-particles containing layers, which are produced directly on a substrate as part of a coating or printing process. The layers can show different colours in transmittance and reflectance. The invention further relates to decorative and security elements. When the layers are applied over a security element, such as a hologram, the obtained products may show different colours in reflection and transmission, an extremely bright optically variable image (OVD image). Depending on the thickness of the layer a more or less intensive metallic aspect appears.

METALLIC COATING COMPOSITIONS
A pigment-containing coating formulation combines (i) polymeric wetting and dispersing additives that absorb onto pigment particles to surround pigment particles to prevent or limit sedimentation; (ii) a self-crosslinking acrylic dispersion with low surfactants and long open time, allowing the pigment to lay flat instead of migrating and agglomerating at the surface; and (3) rheology modification facilitating good Newtonian flow behavior and balanced thixotropic thickening of the coating for improved brushability, flow and leveling for improved appearance with keener light reflection and more uniform pearlescent and metallic effect appearance.
