An alkali-resistant water repellent member according to the present invention has: a silica layer on at least one surface of a base material, said silica layer having a film thickness of from 1 nm to 5 μm, while containing 50% by mass or more of silica nanoparticles and 1% by mass or more of an organosilicon compound that has a plurality of silanol groups in each molecule; and a water repellent oil repellent layer on the outer surface of the silica layer, said water repellent oil repellent layer having a film thickness of from 0.5 nm to 30 nm, while being mainly composed of a cured product of a hydrolyzable fluorine-containing organosilicon compound. This alkali-resistant water repellent member is able to easily provide various base materials with a water repellent oil repellent coating film in a stable manner, said coating film having excellent alkali resistance and wet wear resistance.
Gemstone coatings and methods of making and using the same
Disclosed herein are coated gemstones, coatings for gemstones, methods of coating gemstones, and methods of using coatings on gemstones to avoid blemishes on gemstones. In some embodiments, diamonds are functionalized with anchor molecules that bind hydrophilic cyclodextrin molecules to confer hydrophilicity on the diamond. In some embodiments, the diamonds resist dirt and grime build-up.
EXTRUSION COMPONENT HAVING LUBRICIOUS COATING AND METHOD OF EXTRUDING ABRASIVE MATERIAL
A method of increasing the lubricity of an extrusion component, the method comprising: functionalizing a surface of a wall of an extrusion body with PDA material to form a PDA treated surface; coating the PDA treated surface with a lubricious material; and heat treating the wall of the extrusion body for a time and a temperature sufficient to cause the lubricious material to adhere to the PDA material, and for the PDA material to adhere to the wall; wherein the surface of the wall is optionally oxidized prior to the functionalizing. Also an extrusion component comprising: an extrusion body comprising an inlet face and an outlet face, the body comprising a base structure comprising an internal wall defining at least a portion of an extrusion pathway from the inlet face to the outlet face, wherein at least part of the internal wall comprises a lubricious coating that defines at least part of the extrusion pathway.
Method for enhancing resistance to delamination of a coating layer applied to a rigid, monolithic substrate
The present disclosure provides a method for enhancing resistance to delamination of a coating layer applied to a rigid, monolithic substrate (204, 404). The method comprises forming a plurality of holes (208, 408) on the substrate (204, 404), to define passages from a first operative surface to a second operative surface of the substrate (204, 404). The first operative surface is coated with a first coating material and the second operative surface is coated with a second coating material, to obtain a first operative surface having a first coating layer (202, 402), and a second operative surface having a second coating layer (206, 406). A portion of the first coating material and/or the second coating material is allowed to flow through the passages to configure contiguous ties (210, 410) between the first and the second coating layer. The contiguous ties formed between the first and the second coating layer aid in enhancing the resistance to delamination of the coating layer applied to the rigid, monolithic substrate (204, 404).
COOKING UTENSIL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a cooking utensil, comprising a blank of the cooking utensil, and a non-stick layer coated on the surface of the blank; the non-stick layer comprises a primer layer in contact with one side of the blank, and a sheet-like graphene, a sheet-like graphene derivative or a combination thereof uniformly distributed in the primer layer. The present disclosure also provides a method for manufacturing of the cooking utensil. The present disclosure fully realizes the heat conduction between the blank and the food through the sheet-like graphene, the sheet-like graphene derivative or the combination thereof, and effectively improves the heating speed and the heating uniformity.
UNION SCREW FOR A PIPELINE PROVIDED WITH AT LEAST ONE FLANGE, IN PARTICULAR A BRAKE PIPE
A union screw (1) for pipes (2) provided with at least one flare (21) comprises a metal base body (10) which accommodates the pipe (20). The union screw (1) further comprises a screw head (12), a threaded portion (13), a contact portion (15) which is configured to abut the flare (21) of the pipe (20), and a functional layer (40) with which the base body (10) is coated at least in the region of the threaded portion (13) and the contact portion (15). The functional layer (40) is multi-layered and consists of at least one base coat (41) and a top coat (42) applied to the base coat (41) at least in some areas. The base coat (41) forms a structure for creating corrosion protection and a far-reaching invariance with regard to the material of the usual friction partners of the union screw (1) which, in addition to a binder, also contains zinc in the form of zinc-containing lamellae (43), which are oriented to lie substantially flat on the base body (10).

FOAM NODES FOR CREATING STAND OFF ON APPAREL ITEMS
Aspects herein relate to apparel items and apparel systems that utilize applied or printed foam nodes to provide, among other things, stand-off between an apparel item and a wearer's skin surface. One or more of the foam nodes, or areas of the textile surrounding the foam nodes, may be perforated to provide a fluid communication path between an inner-facing surface and an outer-facing surface of the apparel item. The communication path may be used to facilitate air exchange between the external environment and the wearer's body and/or to provide an exit path for moisture vapor generated by the wearer.
