Seal to prevent lubricant escaping, and rolling stand having said seal

A seal (100) for sealing a lubricant space prevents lubricant (320) escaping. A rolling stand has a seal of this kind. The seal (100) is made at least partially from elastic material. To enable a pressing force FR, with which the bottom face (112) of the seal is pressed against an opposite contact surface (218), for example of a roll journal (212), to be variably set, the seal (100) has at least two cavities, which are separated from each other in the circumferential direction and which are open towards the lubricant space of the bearing.

ROLLER ASSEMBLY

The invention relates to a roller assembly (1) comprising two roller shafts which are mounted in a housing. The roller shafts are preferably mounted parallel to each other, and each roller shaft has at least one roller ring on the axial end region of the roller shaft. A seal assembly is secured on or in the housing, said seal assembly being used to allow the axial end region of the roller shafts, together with the roller rings, to be sealed off from the interior of the housing. In order to allow the seal assembly to be serviced in a substantially shorter amount time than before in the event of wear in the seal assembly and in order to allow the replacement of seals in particular, the seal assembly has: a seal support plate which is secured to or in the housing or is part of the housing; two slide rings for each roller shaft, said slide rings being arranged on the roller shaft; a double-lip seal with two seal lips for each roller shaft, said double-lip seal being arranged on the seal support plate, wherein each of the seal lips rests against a slide ring; and a support ring for each roller shaft, said support ring being arranged in the radially inner region of the double-lip seal and radially supporting same. A rotation prevention mechanism is provided, by means of which the double-lip seal is prevented from rotating relative to the seal support plate.

ROLL STAND

The invention relates to a roll stand, comprising: a working roll, which is mounted in the roll stand floatingly and for rotation about an axis of rotation extending axially and which has two axially opposite end faces; and at least one bearing assembly, which is arranged on one of the two end faces of the working roll and by means of which the working roll is floatingly supported in the roll stand and which has a housing, in which the working roll is mounted using a fixed bearing. According to the invention, the bearing assembly has a supporting device, by means of which the bearing assembly can be axially supported in the roll stand.

Systems and methods for cooling a roll in metal processing

Provided herein are systems and methods for containing a viscous material, such as coolant, applied to cool a roll or a roll processed engineering material such as a metal strip. In particular, a viscous material containment system can include a housing, a viscous material delivery system, a plurality of movable seals and a plurality of gas delivery devices. A method for cooling a roll can include applying a vicious material, such as coolant, to the roll and containing the viscous material on the roll using the viscous material containment system. In some cases, the viscous material containment system can be used to facilitate removal of the viscous material from the roll.

PRESS ROLL APPARATUS

In a press roll apparatus, bearing portions rotatably support end portions on both sides of a pair of press roll portions, respectively. Each of the bearing portions includes a bearing body portion, a rolling bearing, and a pair of oil seal portions. The bearing body portion has an annular shape, and the press roll portion is inserted. The rolling bearing is positioned on the side of the press roll portion inserted into the bearing body portion as viewed from the bearing body portion, and rotatably supports the press roll portion. The rolling bearing is coated with lubricant. The oil seal portions are positioned on both sides in the first direction as viewed from the rolling bearing. The oil seal portions are connected to the bearing body portion. The oil seal portions are positioned so as to be spaced from the press roll portion inserted into the bearing body portion.

Roll arrangement

A roll arrangement for rolling rolling material in a rolling system. The roll arrangement includes a roll that is rotatably mounted by its roll journal in a bearing bush of a chock. A ring gap for receiving a lubricant is formed between the bearing bush and the roll journal. The ring gap is sealed both on the ball side of the chock and on the side of the chock away from the balls, using sealing rings. In order to increase the load capacity or the rolling force of a roll arrangement while maintaining or reducing the construction size thereof and without the roll arrangement overheating, discharge channels are provided in a through-flow angular range of the bearing bush for discharging the lubricant out of the ring gap into an oil-receiving chamber.

Roll assembly for rolls in a rolling mill
10449582 · 2019-10-22 · ·

To increase the load-carrying capacity or rolling capacity of a roll assembly in a rolling mill, throttle elements are used, which shut off the lateral flow of the lubricating film in a partial region between the roll neck and the bearing surface of the roll neck bearing assembly, thereby bringing about an increase in pressure in the lubricating film. At least one throttle element is embodied as an annular segment, forming an angular shut-off region for the lubricant in the annular gap. The invention makes it possible for existing installations to be easily retrofitted, without the need for structural modifications. In the case of new installations, the same load-carrying capacity as before can be provided while the dimensions of the installation space are reduced. The load-carrying capacity of the bearing assembly can be flexibly adjusted based on the dimensions of the shut-off region for the flow of lubricant.
