ADJUSTABLE DIE
20180009020 · 2018-01-11 · ·

A die including a first support having a plurality of panels with adjacent ones of the panels defining a gap therebetween, and a second support having a plurality of panels with adjacent ones of the panels defining a gap therebetween. The first and second supports are configured to be interleaved by positioning at least one panel of each support within one of the gaps of the other support. The first and second supports are positionable in an interleaved configuration in a plurality of different positions relative to each other. The die further includes a coupling component configured to engage at least one of the supports to couple the at least one support to an underlying surface when the first and second supports are in one of the plurality of different positions.

HOT STAMPING FORMING METHOD ENABLING FORMATION OF COMPONENT HAVING DIFFERENT STRENGTH AT EACH PART BY CONTROLLING COOLING BY POSITION

According to the present disclosure, a hot stamping forming method for forming components having various strength according to parts through cooling control for each position includes: setting a required strength for each product part for a sheet supplied into a multi-point forming mold device to which a plurality of forming modules are coupled; adjusting an arrangement of the plurality of forming modules according to the set required strength; and performing cooling control for each part by controlling an amount of cooling air or mist sprayed to the sheet by the air jet nozzle in order to achieve a required cooling speed for each strength part of the supplied sheet, wherein components having various shapes are formable with respect to the supplied sheet in a single mold.

TURRET ROLL FORMERS, FORMING ROLLER CASSETTES AND RELATED ARTICLES AND METHODS

A turret roll forming machine includes at least one turret assembly carrying multiple rows of tooling (e.g., forming rollers), rotatable about an axis to selectively align rows of tooling with an input or output. A transmission is accessible from an exterior of the turret assembly without disassembling of the turret assembly to perform a changeover of roll tooling and/or maintenance on gears, bearings, or shafts of the transmission. Thus, a chain drive may be employed, advantageously accommodating differing rotational speeds for top and bottom forming rollers of each pair of forming rollers, e.g. to reduce roll scuffing. Pairs of forming rollers may be provided as cassettes, which are removably coupleable to the turret assembly allowing quick and easy reconfiguration and/or servicing, minimizing negative effects of changeover. The turret assembly may be a unitary structure (e.g., a weldment) improving rigidity and increasing accuracy of roll forming operations.

Guided keeper assembly and method for metal forming dies

A guided keeper assembly for metal forming dies includes a base having a mounting face and a fastener aperture to mount the base to an associated die shoe, as well as a central guide aperture. A guide pin having a central portion is closely received in the central guide aperture for precisely guiding reciprocal motion between the die pad and the die shoe. The guide pin has an enlarged head at one end which abuts the base to positively limit travel between the die shoe and the die pad, and a shoulder at an opposite end with an alignment mechanism that precisely locates the guide pin on the die pad. A fastener extends through the fastener aperture in the base to securely connect the same with the die shoe. Another fastener securely connects the second end of the guide pin with the die pad.

A modular guided keeper base, guided keeper assembly, and related method includes a modular guided keeper base that mounts to a die member. The guided keeper base has an integrated stop for guide pin retention. The guided keeper base can also accommodate a variety of bushings within the base. The guided keeper base is attached to a die member using a mounting flange(s). Mounting fasteners pass through the fastener holes in the mounting flanges and are anchored in the die member to securely retain the guided keeper assembly in place. A retainer ring is mounted in an associated groove in the base over the heads of the mounting fasteners to prevent unintentional unfastening of the fasteners from the die member.
