Method of Fastening a Fastener
A clinch-in fastener with a cylindrical body having a top, a bottom, sides and an axial internal bore. The fastener has a single shank at the bottom end of the body having a top surface orthogonal to the bore and a chamfer tapering to the bottom of the body. The top surface of the shank is adapted for receiving the cold flow of material surrounding a receiving hole of a workpiece. The shank may have a plurality of notches in its outermost edge that extend through both the top surface of the shank and the chamfer. The bore of the fastener extends completely through the fastener body from top to bottom and may be threaded. A fastener installation system having a tool with means for affixation to a rotary and vertically reciprocal element of an industrial machine. The tip of the tool has a distal end face with at least one arcuate displacer adapted for deforming a workpiece as the tool rotates and is pressed against the workpiece. A bore within the tip holds a fastener installed by the tool. The displacer is vertically and radially tapered along an arcuate ridge centered about the axial bore. The width of the displacer is also tapered to a point.
Tamper proof seal assembly
A tamper proof locking mechanism incorporating a first fixture for attachment to an index protective cover, a second fixture for attachment to an instrument, and a third fixture for connecting the first fixture to the second fixture. The first fixture may have a receptacle, the second fixture may have a plate with an opening, and the third fixture may have a protrusive structure that fits into the receptacle of the first fixture and into the opening in the plate to connect the first fixture to the second fixture. The protrusive structure may have a rivet that is partially embedded with a plastic-like material that reveals tampering when an attempt is made to break a connection between the first fixture and the second fixture.
Fastener placement tool
A fastener placement tool has a mandrel able to place a series of captive rivets in sequence. The tool employs a single electric motor capable of driving the tool into either a first cycle for rivet placement, to a second cycle for selective release of the mandrel form the tool for rivet replenishment. The tool includes a user-operable switch actual to select which of the first or second cycle the tool is to operate.
Power tool
A power tool includes a motor and a gear speed reducer. The motor has a motor shaft that is rotatable in a normal direction and in a reverse direction. The gear speed reducer is operably coupled to the motor shaft. The gear speed reducer is configured such that a reduction ratio of the gear speed reducer is changed in response to a change of a rotation direction of the motor shaft.
Rivets
A rivet for fastening workpiece members, the rivet including a body comprising a shank extending in a first, longitudinal direction and a head extending in a second, substantially transversal direction, a bore being defined through the shank and the head of the body; and, a stem comprising a main longitudinal portion arranged for insertion into said bore, and an enlarged portion arranged for radially expanding the shank when the enlarged portion is forced into said bore to fasten the workpiece members; the rivet being configured for insertion into respective apertures formed in the workpiece members; and the rivet being further configured such that when the workpiece members are fastened, the head of the body of the rivet is displaced relative to the shank to engage with the stem to lock the stem in place relative to the body and/or the workpiece members.
POWER TOOL HAVING FASTENER GRIPPING PORTION POSITION TRACKING FUNCTIONALITY
A power tool comprising: a motor; a fastener gripping portion operatively coupled to the motor for causing movement of the fastener gripping portion between a home position and a retracted position to set a fastener; a home position sensor for generating output indicative that the fastener gripping portion has reached the home position during a reset stage of operation in which the fastener gripping portion is moved towards the home position; and a controller for receiving motor turn information indicative of the number of turns of the motor and for monitoring the position of the fastener gripping portion based on the motor turn information and the output generated by the home position sensor.
Single groove single-sided fastener and installation method thereof
A single groove single-sided fastener comprises: a rivet consisting of a rivet head, a polish rod, a locking groove, a tail pulling groove and a tail tooth in sequence, and a lantern ring consisting of a sleeve and a dead head; a tail of the rivet is of a single groove short-tail structure, a ratio of a length of the tail pulling groove to a total length of the tail tooth is 0.1˜1.5, an included angle between a bottom generatrix of the tail pulling groove and an axis of the rivet is −30°˜0°, two axial ends of the bottom of the tail pulling groove and the tail of the tail tooth are of a fillet transition structure, a ratio of a length of a straight part of the tail tooth to the total length of the tail tooth is 0.1˜1.
Ergonomic riveting tool system
The present disclosure relates to riveting apparatuses, riveting devices, and methods for their use. An example riveting apparatus includes a pneumatically operated riveting tool having a working end for squeezing a rivet. The riveting apparatus includes a support bracket connected to the riveting tool proximate the working end, the support bracket having arms projecting on each side of the riveting tool. The riveting apparatus also includes a pair of spaced-apart edge rollers coupled to the support arms. The edge rollers are configured to rollably engage an edge of a work-piece so as to support the weight of the riveting tool and enable movable adjustment of the working end relative to the work-piece. The riveting apparatus includes a handle rotatably mounted to the riveting tool to enable axial rotation of the handle, the handle having an actuatable switch configured to selectively operate the riveting tool.
