The shank (38) of the pin comprises a first cylindrical portion (44) and a second cylindrical portion (46) connected by a shoulder (48), the first portion being adjacent to the head and having a first diameter, the second portion being adjacent to the threaded portion and having a second, smaller diameter.

Fastening tool

A fastening tool using a fastener of a type which is configured such that swaging is completed while an end region of a shaft part of a bolt remains integrated with the shaft part, and more particularly, a technique that may help provide a compact device structure while facilitating output management required for swaging, in the fastening tool. The fastening tool is configured to fasten a workpiece with a bolt and a collar without breaking a shaft part of the bolt, and a control part performs swaging operation while controlling the driving current of a motor to become a specified target current value and completes the swaging operation based on rotation speed of the motor.

A tool for installing a blind fastener including a core bolt and a core nut is provided. The tool includes a driving member, a collet driven by the driving member for engaging the core bolt, and an external sleeve for holding the core nut and preventing the core nut from rotating during installation of the blind fastener. The external sleeve is movable between a first position in which the external sleeve is driven by the collet to rotate with the collet and a second position in which the external sleeve is stationary despite rotating action of the collet.

Paper fastening rivet and tool system

A method and system of attaching rivets to secure sheets of paper together. The rivets have a head, a recess, a skirt and a tail. A tool is configured so that the tail fits through a hole in the tool. Before the tail is inserted into the hole in the tool, the tail is inserted through two holes in the paper(s) and then in the hole in the tool. Pressure is placed on the paper by pressing downward on the tool thereby causing the paper(s) to snap into the recess, thereby securing both pieces of paper together.

FASTENING TOOL

A fastening tool includes a housing, a handle, an anvil, a pin-gripping part, a motor, and a driving mechanism. The driving mechanism is configured to move the pin-gripping part along a first axis defining a front-rear direction, relative to the anvil. The driving mechanism includes a rotary member, a movable member, a driving gear and an idler gear. The rotary member has a driven gear formed on its outer periphery and is rotatable around the first axis. The movable member is connected to the pin-gripping part and configured to be linearly moved in the front-rear direction by rotation of the rotary member. The driving gear is configured to be rotated around a second axis extending in parallel to the first axis below the first axis. The idler gear is engaged with the driving gear and the driven gear.

Installation tool for a blind fastener and installation procedure for a fastener

An installation tool for a fastener of the pull screw type, comprising a breakable gripping element includes a body, a first sleeve movable axially and rotationally in the body that can drive the gripping element, a second sleeve movable axially in the body and immovable in rotation, and a driving device provided with a turning shaft. The shaft comprises a first free wheel for driving the first sleeve in rotation, a second free wheel, and a driving element positioned coaxially around the second free wheel. The driving element cooperates using a helical link with the second sleeve. The first free wheel drives the first sleeve in rotation in a first rotation direction of the shaft. The second free wheel brings the driving element in rotation in a second rotation direction of the shaft to move the second sleeve axially, allowing full setting in a single operating sequence.

Method for aligning a first hole of a first part with a second hole of a second part and kit for its implementation

A method enabling two holes belonging to two parts to be aligned relies on use of a tool, comprising a body, having a first outer surface which gradually wanders from a longitudinal axis of the body as it extends from a first end of the body, and a hollow part having a second outer surface with a complementary section to the section of the holes. The hollow part comprises a hole through which it is removably mounted on the tool so that the second outer surface extends the first outer surface on an opposite side to the first end of the body. The method comprises inserting the first end of the body into the first hole, and then operating the tool to push the body and then the hollow part together into the holes. This method especially applies to the assembly of a floor module to an aircraft fuselage.

Method and joining element for joining at least two components by means of a flow-formed rivet sleeve

A method for joining at least two components, in particular two sheet components of a vehicle body, by a flow-formed rivet sleeve is disclosed. The flow-formed rivet sleeve includes a cladding region, a first edge region, and a second edge region. A traction shaft including a base body and a head is introduced in the flow-formed rivet sleeve and the flow-formed rivet sleeve is inserted into respective through openings of the components. By a relative movement of the traction shaft to the flow-formed rivet sleeve, the flow-formed rivet sleeve is widened in the first edge region and is brought into contact with one of the components. The second edge region is bent towards the other component by a reshaping tool surrounding the traction shaft and is brought into contact with the other component.

Fastener and fastening system

A fastening system includes a fastener having a bolt with a pull portion having at least one pull groove, and an outer sleeve having a head with an inner face, the bolt being inserted within the sleeve. The fastening system includes a fastener installation tool having a puller with at least one tooth and a front face. The inner face of the head of the sleeve is angled at an included angle measured transverse to a longitudinal axis of the fastener, while the front face of the puller of the fastener installation tool is angled at an included angle measured transverse to a longitudinal axis of the puller. The included angles are chosen to match or be substantially the same. The front face of the puller of the fastener installation tool is adapted to engage the inner face of the outer sleeve of the fastener when the fastener installation tool engages the fastener, and the inner face of the outer sleeve facilitates the receipt of the front face of the puller and the alignment of the at least one tooth of the puller with the at least one pull groove of the bolt by allowing the puller to shift forward or backward to facilitate such alignment.
