CLUSTER FOR AND METHOD OF CASTING GOLF CLUB HEADS
Disclosed herein is a casting cluster for casting a body of a golf club head made of titanium or a titanium alloy. The casting cluster comprises a receptor and a plurality of runners coupled to the receptor and configured to receive molten metal from the receptor. The casting cluster also includes at least twenty-eight main gates. At least two of the main gates are coupled to each of the runners and each main gate is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the plurality of runners. The casting cluster further comprises at least twenty-eight molds. Each mold of the at least twenty-eight molds is configured to receive molten metal from a corresponding one of the main gates and to cast a body of a golf club head that has a volume of at least 100 cm.sup.3.

The first and second connection portions are tilted in such a manner that center portions in a longitudinal direction are reduced in thickness. A sprue mark is formed on a side portion of the third boss portion on an opposite main body portion side.

A foundry mold includes at least one molding cavity and one pair of feeder arms. The molding cavity extends, along a horizontal axis, from a first end to a second end, and the first pair of feeder arms comprises a first feeder arm, oriented in a substantially vertical direction and connected to the first end of the first molding cavity, and a second feeder arm, substantially parallel to the first feeder arm and connected to the second end of the first molding cavity.
Directional solidification casting assembly and method
A directional solidification casting assembly includes a directional solidification mold having an interior chamber with a shape of an object to be cast using directional solidification of molten metal in a growth direction of the mold and a feed line conduit. The conduit is fluidly coupled with a container source of the molten metal and is coupled with the mold at a gating. The feed line conduit conveys the molten metal into the mold through the gating for directional solidification of the object to be cast in the mold. At least a downstream portion of the feed line conduit that is between the intermediate location of the feed line conduit and the second open end of the feed line conduit is located below the gating along the growth direction of the mold.
CASTING METHOD, AND CASTING DEVICE
According to a casting method, a molten metal is sustained at a sustain position between a casting and the next casting, and the molten metal flow is divided from one pouring gate (44) to a plurality of sprue runners (46 and 47) in the casting. The sprue runners (46 and 47) are branched by a V-shaped portion (45) in a V-shape, and the sustain position of the molten metal is set above (any one of P1, P2 and P4) the V-shaped portion (45). The V-shaped portion (45) is filled with the molten metal while a repeated casting is carried out.

A number of variations may include at least one mold portion that may define a first cavity, a circular gating system, and at least one sprue. The circular gating system may surround the first cavity and define a continuous in-gate from the circular gating to the first cavity. CASTING PROCESS AND SAND MOULD PROVIDED WITH A GATING SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AT LEAST PARTLY THIN WALLED ALUMINIUM CASTS WITH SAND MOULDING TECHNOLOGY BY MEANS OF GRAVITY CASTING
The subject of the invention is a process for the production of at least partly thin-walled and aluminium castings with sand moulding technology by gravity casting, which allows producing casts with 100 times or favourably 200-400 times larger overall dimensions in case of 1-3 mm wall thickness. The main idea of the process is that sand mould containing mould cavity is provided, melt of aluminium content is produced, the melt is introduced into the mould cavity at several points through a gating system of narrowing cross section. A further subject of the invention is a sand mould fitted with a gating system to produce at least partly thin-walled castings with sand moulding technology, by gravity casting. The wall thickness of thin-walled segments is 1-3 mm and the largest dimension is more than a 100 but favourably at least 200-400 multiple of the wall thickness. The main idea behind the sand mould with a gating system is that it contains a mould cavity allowing the production of at least partly thin-walled castings, and is equipped with a gating system, which is composed of at least two sprues and one ingate to each having a porthole into the mould cavity and in liquid contact with the sprues.
