The apparatus and method combine continuous casting, rolling, and heat-treating means for single material production with continuous and large-scale production of composite plate strips, and production efficiency of composite plates is sharply improved. Single-sided or double-sided composite plate production having different thickness specifications can be performed, the optional range of a base layer or cladding material is wide.
STARTING HEAD FOR A CONTINUOUS CASTING MOLD AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
Provided herein is a method and apparatus for a starting head for a continuous casting mold, and more particularly, to a starting head configured to clinch a casting for drawing the casting from a continuous casting mold in a manner that reduces stresses within the casting decreasing the likelihood of stress cracks forming in the casting. An example starting head for a continuous casting mold includes: a body; a top surface of the body; two or more recesses defined within the top surface, where each recess extends from a first end to a second end, where the first end of a respective recess is closer to a center of the top surface than the second end of the respective recess, and where a depth of the first end of the respective recess relative to the top surface is less than a depth of the second end of the respective recess relative to the top surface; and a clinch point defined by the second end of the respective recess.
COLD CRUCIBLE FOR THIN SLAB CONTINUOUS CASTING OF LIGHT METAL WITH HIGH-PURITY
The present invention provides a cold crucible for continuously casting high-purity light metal thin slab, which can control the electromagnetic force applied from the inner wall surface of a cold crucible to the surface of molten metal in order to change the shape of the cold crucible to various shapes during electromagnetic casting, while stabilizing the molten metal inside the cold crucible and casting an ingot having uniform particles.

Determining a presence or absence of water in a DC casting starter block : method and direct chill apparatus claims
A method to determine a presence or absence of water in a cavity of a starter block having a non-horizontal surface of DC casting equipment including emitting a wave using a device containing a sensor, the wave propagating along a virtual beam path, directing the wave towards the cavity of the starter block such that the wave is reflected on a horizontal surface of the water, if water is present in the cavity, or is reflected on a non-horizontal surface of the cavity of the starter block, if no water is present in the cavity, detecting the reflected wave using the sensor, or not detecting the wave using the sensor, determining that there is water present in the cavity if the sensor detects the reflected wave, and determining that water is absent in the cavity if the sensor does not detect the wave while the sensor emits the wave.
Tool for fixing a connecting head on an electrode casted in a mold, associated apparatus and method
The tool according to the invention comprises a connecting head (22) support (70) extending along a longitudinal axis (B-B′); a mold base (72), supported by the support (70), the mold base (72) defining an axial orifice for passage of the connecting head (22); an end-piece (74) for mounting the support (70) on a movement member for moving the tool in the mold; and a mechanism (76) for longitudinal immobilization of the connecting head (22) on the support (70). The mechanism (76) for longitudinal immobilization is longitudinally adjustable relative to the support (70) in order to immobilize the connecting head (22) relative to the support (70) in at least two different longitudinal positions along the longitudinal axis (B-B′).
